Sam Allardyce has been named the Barclays Premier League Manager of the Month for February as widely predicted.
After holding Chelsea to a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge on 29th January, Big Sam steered West ham to four wins out of four in the Premier League through February, with wins against Swansea City, Aston Villa, Norwich City and Southampton.
In receiving the award Sam dedicated it to his players saying:
“It was an absolutely brilliant February considering the difficulties we had moving into February through December and January and for the players to respond in the manner they did was absolutely fantastic, so it’s thanks to the players for their achievements throughout February. Trying to predict a result is nearly more impossible this year than ever before, you hope it is you that win on that day but it could easily not be you this season so i think from that point of view it has made it has made it a very, very entertaining Premier League, not for us managers, it has sent us that that very bit greyer but one where it has entertained the public from the very, very start and I think it will entertain them to the very finish”
This is the fifth time Big Sam has received the manager of the month award, with the most recent in December 2006 when he was manager of Bolton Wanderers.
Former West Ham manager Glenn Roeder also won the Manager of the Month award for February 2003 after going through the month without conceding a goal although West ham went on to be relegated that year.
