In a lighter moment I did enjoy the Hawaiian hammers flag together with the self styled Hawaiian hammers dressed in their Hawaiian shirts. It proved to me that it doesn’t matter how bad the situation is, hammers fans retain their sense of humour. Although I must admit the Hawaiian Hammers didn’t look too happy at the game.
I spoke to the organiser of the Hawaiian Hammer, Gary Copeland also known as Lager, he explained it all started after an Hawaiian themed BBQ and escalated from there.
The Hawaiian Hammers include Gary, Errol, Butler, Andy, Sue, Paul, Terry, Ken, Coventry Steve, Tenerife, Big Bob, Brin and Mappy
I am told they can be found in the East Ham Working Mans club on match days. Their motto is ’We wear what we want!"
