Kevin Nolan: An Apology

What a difference a day makes!

We started the day with poor expectations at Villa Park after losing the Andy Carroll appeal yesterday but finished the day out of the relegation zone in 14th place with 25 points, we recorded our 12th clean sheet to put us top of the clean sheet league this season after Arsenal lost 5-1 and Kevin scored two goals to make it four goals in two games.

I would be the first person to admit I over reacted earlier this week by saying whether Andy Carroll played or not over the next three games could mean the difference between relegation or survival. I was wrong and it was unfair on the rest of team as we can’t rely on one man. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

A senior person within the club who shall remain nameless recently told me that Kevin Nolan has been quite upset by the abuse received from West Ham fans after his form dipped and his two sending off incidents. The person told him the only way to win the fans back was to do it on the pitch. Well he seems to have taken that to heart and has proved the chicken dance is not dead.

Fair play to him, after the way he let the club and himself down I believe he now deserves some respect back from the fans after being the major contributor to win back to back games. I briefly met Kevin at the Season Ticket Supporters Forum earlier this year, there was a queue of around 30 people waiting to have their photograph taken with Sam Allardyce but none waiting to see Big Kev so I went up to have a chat with him and have the photo you can see below.

So Mr Nolan if you are reading this I would like to apologise for the things I have shouted and booed from the Sir Trevor Brooking Lower stand this season and the things I have criticised about you on the weekly West Ham podcast I co-present. I look forward to more of your chicken dances to guarantee our survival whether or not Mr Carroll plays.

Come on you irons!

A very Happy Hammer for once!
