Umbro's first home kit

With last week’s announcement of the record £20m five year deal with Umbro, the next big question is what will the first Umbro home kit look like next season considering it is our last season at the Boleyn Ground.

There has been much speculation that Umbro and West Ham will re-create the original 1904/1905 season kit the Hammers wore when they first played in the Boleyn Ground on the 1st September 1904 beating Millwall 3-0 in front of 10,000 Irons fans. During the 1903/1904 season before the move from the Memorial grounds, West Ham adopted the now familiar colours of claret shirts with light blue trim around the neck and light blue sleeves, white shorts and claret stockings. These became the predominant colours of the Hammers ever since.

In the Inaugural Premier League season of 1992/1993 Umbro created a home kit for Aston Villa which uncannily is almost identical to our original kit of 1904. Villa went on to be top of the Premier League with six games to go wearing this kit but eventually settled for second place after being overcome by a stronger Manchester United that year.

Could this be what our final season home kit at the Boleyn ground looks like later this year?
