About me

A West London lad but a Hammers fan since 1964. Played goalkeeper in a team called Viking Sports that had Alan Devonshire before he went to Southall and I was watched by Ron Greenwood while playing for Middlesex Schools against Essex. Unfortunately Ron didn't seem sufficiently impressed to call me to higher things! Now living in Namibia (since 1981) and can only get to a game at the Boleyn once every few years, but we have great satellite TV that shows a BPL channel so I can watch every game.

How I came to support West Ham

I was watching the 1964 Cup Final and my mum who was from 'up north' supported Preston. Probably because of that I wanted West Ham to win and have followed the Hammers ever since. My first live game was a 4-0 victory over Blackpool at the Boleyn at Christmas 1966.

My best West Ham memory

The 1975 FA Cup final win over Fulham with Bobby Moore in the unfamiliar white shirt. I took a day off school to queue up for the tickets at the Boleyn for myself and my school mate Jeremy who is now a season ticket holder.

The best West Ham game I’ve ever seen

The 1-0 victory over Man Utd at the Boleyn in December 2006. My wife and two sons were with me and we must have had the last available seats for the game, right in the top left hand corner of the Chicken Run. Great for the result and the occasion.
