How I came to support West Ham

Born as Wolfgang Berger in Austria some decades ago, I have decided to adopt the nickname of “RapidHammer” around 2005, when West Ham got promoted to the Premier League under the tenure of Alan Pardew and a certain Mark Noble had made his debut in the Hammers’ first team. I reactivated my earlier interest in English football and began to follow my favourite team in claret and blue quite regularly via internet and social media. I have witnessed in person Carlos Tevez’s maybe most beautiful goal (which he scored against Chelsea at Upton Park), and then started a blog of my own just after the “great escape” in 2007. That made me a regular follower and contributor to all things West Ham over land and sea. I am of course still a supporter also of my hometown club Rapid Vienna. -> rapidhammer.com
