We all expect a tonking this afternoon. No question. Manchester City seem to be in imperious form and us, well, we’re not. Payet is still out and not expected to feature even on the bench. No one quite knows why, but suspicions are growing that … well, I can’t quite bring myself to even type it.
Lanzini will be on the bench and may get some playing time but otherwise it’s very much as you were. The only question is whether we will drop Tore and have an extra man in midfield, probably Nordtveit. Like Tore, he has been a massive disappointment so far, but an extra defensive minded player would probably be a good idea in the circumstances. I wouldn’t rule out playing five at the back with Ogbonna, Reid and Collins playing centrally.
Up front, it would be a travesty if Valencia or Calleri played in favour of Ashley Fletcher. Fletcher deserves his chance, and it might not be the ideal game for him to make his first start, but cometh the hour, cometh the man.
