Opposition Q&A Newcastle

This week I spoke to Magpies fan Ed Harrison from the Newcastle United Blog www.nufcblog.com/

Q1 – How do you rate your manager Alan Pardew?
A – Alan Pardew tends to be up and down and is not consistent with the results he gets, but he has done quite well since he arrived at Newcastle and certainly at the moment things are on a high at Newcastle since we’ve won six games in a row.

Q2 – Newcastle fans setup a sackpardew.com website before the six wins in a row and say that Alan Pardew is not the man to take the club forward. Do you agree?
A – The sackpardew group are still anonymous so we don’’t know who they are, but most fans are now happy that Alan Pardew has turned it around and with six wins in a row few Newcastle fans now want him out.We had a poll on our web-site after the Stoke defeat when we had 3 points form our first six games and around 80% wanted him fired at that time.As you may have expected not much is talked about firing Alan Pardew at the moment although the sackpardew group are still saying they will be proved correct and we eventually will start losing again – - we shall see. Alan Pardew is an emotional subject still at Newcastle.

Q3 – How do you rate our manager & former Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce?
A – Sam is a solid and experienced manager who did not do well at Newcastle and lasted only eight months – and the fans didn’t like the defensive football he tends to play – although he;s done well well at West Ham this season.

Q4 – What is your view on Andy Carroll and would you ever like to see him back at Newcastle?
A – Andy has been very injury prone since he left Newcastle and seems to miss half a season each season through some kind of injury. We still think he would do very well if he ever did return to Newcastle United, but his injury record is a concern – he was great at Newcastle before he left for Liverpool.

Q5 – What positions do you think Newcastle and West Ham will finish in the Premier League this season?
A – An inspired guess – Newcastle 7th – West Ham 10th

Q6 – Which three teams do you tip for relegation this season?
A – A guess – Hull, Leicester, Burnley

Q7 – How are West Ham fans perceived by Newcastle fans?
A – My view of West Ham is a team with a great history (3 players – Moore,Hurst and Peters in England’s World Cup winning side of 1966) and with very good fans.

Q8 – If you could have any current West Ham player in your team who would you choose.
A – Your striker Diafra Sakho – Newcastle were supposed to be after him in the summer.

Q9 – Favourite West Ham player of all time?
A – Bobby Moore – a really great player and probably under-rated if anything

Q10 – How do you expect Alan to setup against West Ham on Saturday?

A We have successfully switched to a 4-3-3 formation and we expect Newcastle to defend well, close down West Ham players when you get the ball, and hit West Ham with fast breaks – the confidence in our side is very high at the moment – as you might expect.

Q11 – Score and prediction for Saturday?
A – 1-0 win for Newcastle.
