Sakho in trouble

Diafra Sakho may face a FA investigation after Luke Shaw claims he headbutted him leaving a black eye.

The FA will wait to see if the alleged incident is mentioned in referee Lee Mason’s march report before deciding whether there is a case to answer.

It is claimed Shaw told linesman Andy Garratt about the incident, which took place off the ball. After the game Shaw said “We have actually had a lot of bad luck, especially with Wazza’s red card as I would say there was a handball before that but the referee didn’t stop play, earlier in the game, Sakho did the same to me. But I just focus on winning games and I’ll keep doing that.”

If the FA did find the striker guilty in video footage he faces a 3-match ban for violent conduct in the alleged off-the-ball incident

Sakho has scored 4 from 4 so far this season, the first Hammer to do so since Leroy Rosenior.

“I was delighted to see Diafra Sakho destroy my 26 year old record of a new Hammer scoring in his first three games. God, that makes me feel old! Diafra has now scored in his last four and that record could stand for even longer than mine. Let me be the first to congratulate him,” said Rosenior.

“He’s a real sparky character and one of my favourite Hammers for some time. Watching him you would think he’d been at the club a few years rather than a few weeks. He was excellent again at Old Trafford yesterday and is already a huge terrace favourite – that’s gonna grow and grow.”

*UPDATE: Diafra Sakho will not face retrospective punishment from the FA after allegedly headbutting Luke Shaw. According to one paper after reviewing video footage, the offence wasn’t deemed serious enough to warrant a red card had the referee seen it at the time. Lee Mason hadn’t included the incident in his post-match report, allowing the FA to review.
