Marouane Chamakh has launched a personal attack on Sam Allardyce in the Sun on Sunday today under the headline ‘Big Sam made me want to quit England’
The story says the striker lost his love for the game during his five months after Sam Allardyce used him just three times during his loan at West Ham.
He is quoted as saying
“I thought long and hard about whether or not to leave England but I have a passion for the English league, which I have had since I was young. West Ham has been the only regret of my entire career, that was nothing to do with the club itself but more to do with the manager. I’ve got a good relationship with the manager here at palace. I listen to his advice and try to respect it”
When Chamakh joined Crystal Palace I had a bet with a fellow podcast presenter who is a Palace fan on a Premier League podcast called EPLRoundTable. I wagered him an Iphone 5 at the beginning of the season that Chamakh would not score six league goals for them. He is currently on five league goals and it looks likely he will cost me money. I wonder what Tony Pulis saw in him that Big Sam never did.
