10:00 For those expecting a late deal for Joleon Lescott today I am reliably told it is a dead deal from both sides with 0% chance of happening, West Ham are not prepared to pay £90,000 per week. The player is not prepared to drop his wages and Manchester City do not want to subsidise a loan deal. Manchester City have no replacement so need him as cover for cup games. 08.57 Lee Clayton (a very reliable source) writes on the Daily Mail Deadline Day page that West Ham were offered Adel Taarabt before he went to AC Milan. If anyone has read Harry Redknapp’s book, you’ll be relieved that we didn’t take him. Hugely skilful but his attitude is a real issue. As Fulham discovered.
08.55 The Mail reckon we’re back in for Lescott today. I;m not so sure. Sources tell me that this deal is dead as a dodo. The Mail also speculates that we may be moving for Spanish international Fernando Navarro who plays for Seville.
08.41 I hope we don’t see any ‘tanties’ from Ravel Morrison today. My one great hope for today is that we don’t mention him at all. He’s such a major talent, we need to keep him. The most likely sales are Diarra, Maiga, Collison, Taylor, Rat, Vaz Te and Joe Cole, I’d have thought.
