Just Like My Dreams They Fade and Die Part 3

My final post in this mini series about the final season at the Boleyn and this thread focuses on the ground itself. Apart from one photo, I took these on a stadium tour I managed to join before the gates were closed for the last time. It was quite emotional in many ways, looking out onto the pitch remembering some of the best matches in recent history, not least some very special results in the last season. I am sure many readers here will bring up some of these memories in the comments below. Hearing the crowd cheering on our team, shouting out at the referee and inevitable criticism of individual players from both teams became part of that special atmosphere that built Upton Park to be what it was for many over the years – our home. Time to draw a line now and move on? It has certainly been an emotional journey looking through my photos and editing them ready to post. Be great to read what others have to say.

Just Like My Dreams They Fade and Die Part 2

This is the second part of my series on our last season at Upton Park. Looking through my photos from that amazing season I realised that I had actually taken a few from the last match, but also I went on a stadium tour with one of my sons and have a few images of the old Boleyn ground empty. I’ve decided to post those in a separate thread for part 3. My photos needed a bit of work on them as the quality wasn’t so good especially for the final match at home against Man Utd. What a match to have as a lasting memory from a season that was filled with so many emotions, both highs and lows and the sadness of finally leaving the old ground. It was hard to let go. There’s no doubt about it and for many of us the memories will linger through our stories, photos, shirts, programmes and memorabilia the brought an end to many fans match day traditions. Traditions that were passed on to each generation. Anyway, hope you all enjoy these photos and I’ll post my final part in the series sometime next week.

Just Like My Dreams They Fade And Die - Part 1

I was unable to attend the Friday night match against Leicester this week so I thought it would be great to post some photos I had of our last season at Upton Park. Hopefully the images will bring back some memories of our home and provide some relief from our current season so far. Part 1 is about the journey from Upton Park tube station down to the ground itself, picking up some of the colour and character of the match day experience. Part 2 will be inside the ground with some images of the matches and crowd in the ground. I have some photos of the last match at home, but my photography was a little less developed back then. I’ll try and edit them as best I can. Included some black and white images as I know some of you prefer those.
