I have just read that the chinese club Shanghai Shenhua are interested in signing one Matthew Upson. Could you ask Mr Sullivan, as a former employer of the afore mentioned player, would he recommend the chinese chairman (of the club not of the country, that would be going too far) take a punt on him?

I think the bigger problem will be traffic / infrastructure etc. Getting planning permission now would be very difficult.

If I had an open choice I would prefer a custom-built new stadium designed for football. The problem with this is both cost and land availability. The majority of new grounds built in the last few years have been in areas where land is cheaper although there are exceptions. Arsenal is the obvious one but they are one of the wealthiest and best run clubs in the country. Brighton and Southampton have also built new stadiums although, whilst expensive, land in those two areas is cheaper than around London. Brighton's took about ten years to get sorted and, I believe, Southampton got substantial funding in the way of grants due to re-development of the docks area.
Even Liverpool have struggled to get a new ground up and running. Location there is not an issue but cost of construction is.

I get where you are coming from, Tony, but they will surely be given a chance if they are thought to be good enough. If an academy can produce two each season it would be incredible as this very rarely happens anywhere. The Beckham era at Manure is an exception and when Cole and Carrick came through in the same season for us it was unusual. Even before that, Rio, Lampard, Johnson and Defoe all came into the first team in different seasons.
The closest we have had in more recent years has been Noble and Collison - and even they were two years apart.
Also, if you look at all the young players who didn't make it in recent years, only Leon Brittan at Swansea has gone on to bigger and better things and Liam Ridgewell and Jimmy Bullard did OK.
