Breaking News: Spurs Bid for Parker

Sky Sports are reporting that West Ham have rejected a bid from Tottenham for Scott Parker… Gulp…

UPDATE: The Club have released THIS statement on the website.

The club would like to state that regardless of the size of the bid, nothing will break the promise that Chairman David Sullivan made to our supporters. As repeatedly stated, Scott Parker is not for sale and there are no circumstances and no amount of money that will cause us to break that pledge to the fans.

The club informed Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy prior to him making the offer that we would not welcome any approach to unsettle the player. Scott Parker has three years left on his contract and the club has opened talks with his agent over a new five-year deal.

David Sullivan said: “I made a promise that I would not sell Scott and I will not, for any amount of money, break that promise to the West Ham supporters. Scott is not for sale at any price, to anyone. West Ham supporters, for far too long, have had owners that sell their best players and promise one thing and do another.

“This is a new era. We are building a bigger, better West Ham and when we make a promise, we honour it.”

That’s pretty categoric. I just wonder if Scott Parker himself will take the same views.

    Not For Sale!!!!

  2. AussiHammer says:

be ready for the "player asked to be kept informed, at his age he felt it was the last chance to prove himself at the highest level" the 12million quid had nothing to do with us accepting the offer, said we have said all along, WHU are only interested in retaining those that want to stay and help the club. That was WHU of old of course and I for one don't think it will happen again, we may be cashed strapped but Gold has plenty of cash and he has waited 15 years for this!

    • Soldier_Tom says:

If he actually asks to go Aussie then if I were Gollivan I'd let it be known … not for sale and wants to leave are two different things …. for me the bidding starts at least at £15m … we have Berahmi who has a better engine and is a ready made replacement … and Noble for me has a better distribution ..

  3. musicmob says:

    up yours spuds !!!!!!!!!

  4. Goatygav says:

Bravo David Sullivan. Perfect statement at the perfect time.

I don't know how his relationship with Avram Grant is coming on but I think that will be key in convincing him to sign the excellent contract he's been offered by the club.

  5. SkinnyChris says:

    I dont think he'll go.

He loves it here, he loves the fans and he can see we are improving now. If we lacked direction after last season he'd probably want to leave, and who could blame him.

If he stays he'll undoubtably go down in history of one of our greatest players. Go to Spurs and the fans who loved him, the club who turned his career around will turn on him.

Intrestingly i think if this bid had come in the day after Zola was sacked i reckon he'd be interested.

    • Soldier_Tom says:

Totally agree with you Chris, I am suprised teams have left it so late … maybe Masherano saying he wanted out of Liverpool has promted Spuds to bid ?

      • SkinnyChris says:

The more i think about this bid the more surprised i am. Tottenham already have three defensive midfielders. I'm not sure why they have gone for Parker as well.

Its ironic that three years ago Martin Jol was refused the funds to sign a defensive midfielder and now its all they seem to be interested in.

  6. AussieGraham says:

Anyone smell a transfer request and Hairy doing some wheeler dealing?2 choices sign the 20 million offer or become a Jermain Defoe!odd how yesterday the 20 mill was placed unsigned on the table and 24 hours later the offer from Daniel Levy is an official statement!smell of fishiness!something is happening especially Hairy knew a month ago we were chasing Remy, something is not quite right!

  7. brayhammer says:

Loyalty is a great word….intersting couple of weeks ahead. I would accept the deal only as follows
Parker = Pavlechenko, Jenas & £10m!! And even then when they think it is done change your mind and tell them to stuff it up their arse!!!!
Davids Squared this is your moment!!!!!

    • Soldier_Tom says:

Bray Hammer, thats an incredible offer … would you actually turn it down with Berahmi and Noble good enough to replace him in the new formation …

      • brayhammer says:

Soldier I was being smart if I am honest as auld Hari would not do that…of more importance is the image and signal if sends out to both players potentially coming in and those we have. If Davids Squared reject every offer for Parker it sends out a possitive sign to both fans and players and people will attack new season positively….if they take the money and we lose first few games (very possible either way as we have tough start) people will turn on owners for selling Parker and the doom and gloom starts all over again, Thats why it is VITAL we say no to any offer for Scottie P

  8. chrischris says:

    Bloody Redknapp!
He's on a mission to destroy us!
    Hate spurs
    Hate Millwall
    Hate Redcapp!! toss pot!
Hope we dont get the "Well the player wanted to leave so there's nothing We could do" ARRRRRRRRRRRR Hulk Smash!!!!

  9. well after reading that statement i'm sure parker wont be sold. there's no way sullivan would shoot himself in the foot by going back on that promise.

they are offering parker a new 5 year deal so mayb parkers giving indication that he will sign it and doesnt want to move…………..hopefuly

  10. DevoDevo says:

    Great statement by Sullivan!

Even celtic won't begrudge him that.

    Thumbs up, David!

  11. NCHammer says:

Thumbs up from me – great statement. I am with Brayhammer. They should waste the Spuds time and take negotaions to transfer deadline day… and then tell then to bugger off!!!

I really hope they crash out of the champions league in the qualifiers and go back to the mid-table position that they deserve… taht will also mean old Arry out of a job.

As for Parker – he is like a GOD here and by staying on he can only get BIGGER. I personally think he will stay unless someone offers the club £30mil and him £100k a week – then it will probably be too much to turn down.

Looking forward to seeing how we get on tonight – should be good with a few key players back in action…

    COYI

  12. FrankieBoyle says:

great statement and I really hope this is true.

I just pray his head isn't turned (you all know what Harry is like), if he hands in a transfer request what does Sullivan do then?

I'm sure Scotty will stay but at the same time I wouldn't want someone playing for us who doesn't want to be here

All the noises are positive so far…

can't wait for the villa game – Milner will be gone by then, no time for a replacement as Martin O'Neil leaves it too late as always in the transfer market so we can see Scotty smash through Nigel Reo-joker like a bloody steam train!

  13. AussieGraham says:

Jamie Redknapp best friend of Parker, still smell a deal!Hairy will comeback for more he wont like this out in the open but I reckon Sullivan[and Avram] have a cunning plan!

    • TeabagLA says:

Actually I taught there was something funny about Sullivans statement ,I wonder if Parker will put in a transfer request? with this statement Sull has appeared to done everything to keep him so if Parker leaves the blame will on the player!….I am not to bothered either way Parker is injury prone, 30 and a lot of yellows cards!….as for Noble & Parker just remember our home game against Wigan 2 seasons ago Wilson P now with Spurs made them look silly! Also I know they have good spirit about them I think it is not enough!

  14. Braderz says:

Get in there Sullivan, i would actually like us to accept an offer from Spurs then right at the last minute on transfer dealine day, tell them that Scotty has got a brand new mobile phone and that they can complete the deal on: 0 1 2 1 f***ing do 1. Would be excellent, Parker the nsigns brand new 5 year deal with us hammers, would love it!

Now we have this worry over with we hope, lets end this boring Remy saga and just get the deal done, Get the players in as quickly as we can, get them a few pre-season games and lets start the season with a bang. High optimism for this coming season with fresh looking kits and a top 10 finish would do just fine.

    Come On You Irons!!!!

    • AussieGraham says:

This is not over mate I tell you, gingernuts will be back he is a Pirannah on legs!

      • Braderz says:

Oh i no it isn't over don't worry haha, Harry will probably steel Remy from us now but oh well. Sullivan better stick to his word, he has claimed that Parker won't go no matter how much is offered, we shall see Sullivan, we shall see.

  15. AussieGraham says:

Just had a large lump on Glasgow Rangers at 5-4 to beat Sydney in 5 minutes they will murder Sydney get on large!Just watched Blackburn and they were Shite!5-4 Rangers easy Dosh!

  16. djclipz says:

That is the best thing Sullivan has ever said!!!

  17. veldom says:

    Well done Mr. Sullivan!

The icing on the cake would be a statement from Scott Parker himself saying he does not want to leave West Ham, the club where he has been appreciated and voted best player of the last 2 seasons.

  18. Sullivan has done a good job of making the Spuds look like mugs, good on him!

  19. Salesh says:

This is the first step. We sign better players we will play in better stadium we will earn more money and we will win the league!!!!

    Up the hammers

  20. Braderz says:

Even more news, this is great:

Roma's sporting director Daniele Prade claims the club have not and will not bid for Valon Behrami.

The Serie A outfit admit to being admirers of the versatile West Ham midfielder, but insist they have other areas to address in the transfer market.

Switzerland international Behrami has been strongly linked with a move to Italy this summer, with Palermo among those to have expressed an interest.

However, West Ham have made it clear that they have no intention of selling, and Roma have now revealed that they are not preparing to test the Hammers' resolve.

"He is a strong player, we like him, but we have not made any offer to West Ham," Prade told Sky Italia.

"Our priorities are a defender and a left winger, we are okay elsewhere."

    • djclipz says:

problem is Gold apparently said the other night on BBC Essex that players do need to be sold to balance the books somewhat, so what players are these going to be that are going to bring in some kind of decent money?

      • Braderz says:

I think the players we should let go are Spector, Kovac, and also sacrifice Upson. It is a tough one but we need to change things for the new season and im sure a few more new faces are yet to arrive.

        • djclipz says:

yeh true i agree, but that is provding we get enough for them. For me, i don't see kovac or spector commanding much of a fee, so it all relies on blagging upson.. which could be hit or miss now.. i don't know.

So far we have spent about 5 mill, and i can see that increasing to around 10, or a lot more if this Remy deal does eventually come off. I just don't know how much they are looking to spend without recouping it all in sales. Personally I don't think if we spend 15mil we have to sell 15mil as they i believe they are looking at throwing a little money around but what are the two Daves looking to regain as a percentage of what we spend!?

          • Soldier_Tom says:

dj, There are rumours of £10m coming in from Ashton's insurance floating around and from my estimations £10m is what we had to spend anyway … I think if Remy comes then the sacrificial lamb will be Cole going to Stoke … I actually hope this happens as I really like the look of Remy … bags of pace to compliment what we have in our squad … as much as I have liked Cole I just don't think he scores enough goals, and with a pacy forward it will open up the channels for others to contribute

          • djclipz says:

oh really, i thought the ashton saga was dead in the water. That will be a little bonus i guess.

Yes i would like to see Remy come in too, it is definitely a sign of us changing our ways and signing exciting players, he could also prove to be very succesfull. However i would like Cole to stay on but.. like you say it is very likely he could go, and piquionne we step into playing his role.

        • Soldier_Tom says:

I agree Braderz, Kovac has his moments but at best is a squad palyer along with Specter, I am more suprised by the silence surrounding Matty Upson … no bids no news ? I was under the impression that if he didn't sign then he was to be sold … then again after the WC what is his stock value ? he is the player I thought Arry might have come for not Parker

          • Braderz says:

Well i am still hoping that Harry does come after Upson, they ca nhave him for £6m and we will take Bentley of there hands, good bussiness to me. i think we could get £3m for Kovac and possibly £1.5m for Spector so we then have £10.5m, spend £11.5m on Remy + the £6m already spent then we have spent £17.5m but with the sales it works out that we have actually only spent £7m for four good players, sounds like great bussiness to me, then get Clerc as a free transfer to make it 5 good signings. I want us to keep Coel as i think he will have a good season, if i was Grant and Remy and Clerc sign, id play 4-2-3-1 :

            Green

            Clerc Da Costa Tomkins Ilunga

            Parker Hitzlsperger

            Faubert Remy Barrera

            Cole

  21. Brentwood says:

My biggest concern at the moment is the defender situation, once weve signed one or two, i'll be much happier.
I think unless scotty says he wants a move, this topic is dead, well done sullivan.
This new west ham assistant manager…. does anyone know about him, im nieve.

  22. Soldier_Tom says:

I am very suprised at this news and especially the outburst by Sullivan. In Berahmi, Noble and Collison we have ready made replacements … a ludicrous bid of £15m would be silly to turn down …

That said Avraam may have already selected his skipper and apart from Noble he is the natural leader in the pack … for the record, I thought Bray hammers idear of Pav, Jenarse and £10m cash up front was a good package … if Arry really wants him, make him pay …

    • EarlsCHammer says:

I forgot about that and was preparing myself for another potential season with Matty 'The Brick' Upson as our captain! If Parker isn't our captain I will be massively shocked, and also a bit upset!

    • Braderz says:

I agree but cannot see Parker leaving no matter what is offered now after this promise from Sullivan, he would be mental to let him go after coming out with this statement, fans would go crazy if he turned his back on what he said. I think Parker will be our captain this season and Matt Upson will leave. I'm intersted to see who our next signing is going to be. I dont think it will be Remy though, that saga is soo boring now, gone on far too long. If he doesn't want to play for us then just say it so we can withdraw our offer and look elsewhere.

      • EarlsCHammer says:

Totally agree Braderz. If I was Remy I would tell West Ham my honest thoughts. Even if it was that he is hoping to move to Liverpool or something. He has to be upfront and try not to lead the club on.

      • Soldier_Tom says:

Braderz, the frogs are notoriously slow on transfers to premier league clubs … they drag there heels til the last minute trying to squeeze every penny out of us … with Masherano leaving liverpool with they have the pennies to up their bid ? its just business to them ..

        • Braderz says:

Well if we don't get a move on with the deal then other teams like Liverpool will come in and take him from us. I'm not that fussed any more if he signs or not because this saga has gone on so long now that it makes me think, he doesn't want to play for us. Well if he doesn't then we should say stuff it, will withdraw our offer and look elsewhere.

  23. good afternoon.. I've just heard the news now, I only hope we stick to our word and that a stupid bid of around 20 million doesn't come… i'm afraid that that would be to good to turn down!!

But this is the best news i've heard all year. All we need now is Parker to say he wants to stay!!!!
