Weekend Transfer News!

This weekend has seen some big moves in the transfer market, and West Ham have apparently stepped up their interest in England international David Beckham. Playing wise, he could still do a job for West Ham, but not consistently. At the age of 35, he is certainly in the winter of his playing career, and he may not get back into the tempo and vigour of the Premier League after so long away. He would definitely be more of an impact sub rather than a regular starter, so i’m not sure how much sense it would make to have him in the team on his wages.

Another player linked with West Ham over the weekend, and who could possibly be called The David Beckham of the Brazil national team is Ronaldinho. He could be available for a fee of around £6million but with wages around £100,000 a week, it would be a very expensive experiment for West Ham. Although both these players are no longer at their peak, both would no doubt do a very decent job for The Hammers, and it shows West Ham are trying to add some flair to the squad, whilst increase revenue as both star names would guarantee increased merchandise sales.

Reports today also suggest West Ham are close to finalising the deal to sign France international Francois Clerc. The 27-year old is available on a free after his Lyon contract ran out and hopefully he will be added to the squad before the start of the season to bolster the backline.

It is also being said that Lyon or Bordeaux will now win the race to sign French striker Loic Remy. It’s believed he would prefer to stay in France despite everything he has said about finding the Premier League an attractive proposition. For me now, i think it would be best for Sullivan to withdraw his offer and look for other striking options available for a similar price or cheaper as Remy and Nice have both from the word go being consistent in stalling on West Ham, are we really prepared to have a player in our ranks who clearer would rather be at numerous other clubs?

The race for a new no2 goalkeeper also altered again yesterday as Ex Everton goalkeeper Stephen Wessels played in goal for West Ham yesterday in the friendly game against Burton. The 31 year old could now be brought in to play back up to Robert Green and increase competition for the number 1 jersey.

Once again, there are no new signings to report, but by the looks of things, one could be imminent. However, the thing that is concerning a lot of Hammers that i no is there may also be a depature soon, but who this is at the moment remains to be seen with midfielder Valon Beharmi the latest name being tipped for an exit at the moment.

I agree completely on Remy, and have hoped we would either place a take it or leave it demand on Nice or just tell them to get lost. I'm done even reading the name.

As for the keeper, the Algerian should get the job. I was so impressed with him during the World Cup I wanted him then. Reading that he was training with us seemed like a premonition.

  2. icon_hammer says:

After watching Wessels play yesterday at Burton there is no way he should get a second weeks trial let alone a contract!

    • Shropshire says:

Absolutely agree re Wessels. He was pretty poor yesterday. The guy that did impress me was the Saudi Arabian youngster, not sure of his name, but looked good up front.
Just checked the official site; it was Abdulla, looks a good prospect from yesterdays showing. Yao also looked quite lively.

  3. Braderz says:

I think the Remy deal is still on the cards! I have read this morning about Lyon and Bordeax links to him but this is all old news that is resurfacing.

Bordeax pulled out because they said they couldn't match our offer and Remy rejected the chance of returning to Lyon as he prefered a move to the premier legue.

Reading Karen Brady's interview, she claims that talks are still very much on going with Nice to get the Remy deal concluded so don't blow that one out just yet, i too am fustrated at how long the deal has taken but i feel a conclusion is near.

As for Ronaldhinio and Becks, can't see it happening, don't get me wrong it would be great if one of them signed but i see them as 'over the hill' players who would only be in it for a decnet pay at the end of the week.

  4. Braderz says:

As for Clerc, i hope that this deal goes through quickly, whilst Sullivan is in France looking to seal the Remy deal, it would appear he is looking to finalise the Clerc deal also, hope this come true to help our backline, it really needs it!

Goings out is a tough one, so much speculation but nothing confirmed, its a tough one but im sure things will develop over the coming weeks.

  5. Dying_Blog says:

All a load of speculative crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. TerraceChant says:

I think there is alot of speculation flying about from France and most of it is rubbish, Bordeaux have alredy stated they aren't in the running for Remy as they can't match the original offer we put in, I dont think Lyon are in a better position than Bordeaux, so there is still a very good chance that by Tuesday Remy will be a Happy Hammer, the Clerc deal I think may be a very good long awaited signing but there is speculation that Silvestre is an option to, with the outside possibility of Caraglio coming in as well there looks like a mass clearout going to happen to reduce the 1st team squad to 25, lets see what happens

    • Braderz says:

Yeah exactly right TerraceChant, i still remain optomistic that Remy will sign for us, it looks like we will nealry have a completely brand new looking squad for next season, It's who will be leaving i am now interested in!

  7. Just says:

The problem is no one really what’s going on with Remy. It appears that he is not interested but this is a pure guess. We really need defenders and another winger and what worries me is that all the talk is about strikers or midfielders when we already have behrami, Parker hitzelsperger and noble for central midfield and a choice of cole, piqiuonne, McCarthy, Hines and Nouble as good striker options.

We really need to look at a right back and central defenders and maybe one winger.

Anyway the good news is this has been one of the most exciting summers in many years so things are looking promising with the manager and possible olympic stadium.

  8. HornchurchHammer says:

I would like to see 2 deals go through this week at least, considering the club did post on th website stating they hoped to add more signings in the next 72hours. I know things don’t always go to plan but don’t put things up on the website if there is a chance they won’t go through. I am hoping we sign clerc and maybe Luke Young. Defenders is what is needed at the mo. Playing dyer at the back doesn’t fill me with confidence even if we didn’t concede still the other night. The Remy deal is dragggggggiiiiiinnnnnngggggg on far to long. We will prob get him and he will flop in the PL. I’d rather we put up 12 mil on Hugo Rodileiga (spelling might be wrong on surname). At least he knows the league and scores.. Usually against us. If not maybe a cheeky 10 mil bid for roman pav from spurs or maybe a player swap deal with Upson. Players I’d wouldn’t mind seeing the back of would be: dyer, kovac, spector, benni, upson, illunga, tomkins, sears. If any of these could generate some funds then I’d sell them in an instant. Behrami and Faubert I’d sell if needed and I’d imagine both to be worth over 5mil at least. Cole I don’t want to sell but would understand it if the club did cash in, let’s be honest he hasn’t always been good.

  9. chrischris says:

this remy stuff's complete bolox, don't know why everyones wetting their knickers,he dont fancy us so sod him.

    • celtichammer says:

agree with you there, given the fact that Nice are willing to sell him then he should be proving that he wants to come to us. Splashing out £13M on a player who looks like he is hoping a better offer comes along doesn't fill me with confidence.

  10. Soldier_Tom says:

I've got to say the that I think the Beckham thing is clever thinking to put bums on seats if the move to the Olympic stadium comes off .. it would certainly put an additional 5000 bums on seats and the shirt sales would go throught the roof. Ronhaldinho tho is a non starter though, lets be honest were talking fantasy stuff if he started at Upton Park next season.

I actually think Remy will sign, it is just the typical french stance to bleed as much money as they can from premier league clubs, however the two Daves are masters at games so patience is the word on this one … with the boy Clerc too I think these will be huge additions

On the way out tho looks to be Cole and Berahimi, I also think we might see the departure of Faubert, Upson and maybe Scotty Parker if a silly money bid comes in from Villa

    • celtichammer says:

an additionall 5000 bums on seats would see us netting less than we do now at The Boleyn. This is just one of the many things that doesnt add up about a move to the olympic stadium..

      • Soldier_Tom says:

Celtic, the whole brand Beckham thing would bring in massive revenue for the club … along with trying to fill the new stadium on cheaper ticket prices. Its a staep in the right direction I feel. However slating Remy when it is his club that are stalling isn't right. Lets be honest, Liverpool or West Ham … game over on that one but if he comes then I think he'll be a massive addition and add pace to a slugish front line … with Dimante and Dyer or Boa Morte and faubert up alongside him I think we aree heading in the right direction

        • celtichammer says:

With all due respect Tom this talk of lowering ticket prices is just nonsense and an attempt to appease fans.
firstly if you lower ticket prices you have to sell more seats just to make the same money. Taking a crowd of 35,000 at Upton Park, if you lower ticket prices by 20% in the new stadium you now have to sell 43,750 tickets just to make the same money. That doesn't even factor in the percentage of of the ticket price that would have to go to the stadiums owner as part of the rent agreement. So in fact you may have to sell closer to 50,000 tickets just to make what you were making at Upton Park.
          How does this make sense?

          • bazzahammer says:

because you will get more fans wanting to watch better footballers, wanting to sit in a bigger stadium for a knock down price! simple business. west ham sell out near enough every game and the fans have to pay to watch spector! bring a global superstar, plus another global superstar, plus more global fans who are now interested in the club because of the new stadium. players and cheap tickets, i know what i would go for!

it would be really hard for me personally to leave the boleyn for the memories and legacy but if we really want the full experience of being a top club then this should definatly happen! i have a feeling chelsea may look at moving in the next few years purely for that reason.

          • Brentwood says:

Decreasing ticket prices increases ( as long as results are good) attendence figures, of those extra people, a large percentage will buy, drink, food, merchandise, programs, car parking, lottery ..more revenue.
Ive just read the karen Brady article, got me thinking, would i buy shares ?? throwing away good money.. but i would own a bit of my club. who else would buy shares??

          • Jolly says:

For all your 'expertise' CH, sometimes you miss the simplest things.
            35,000 paying on average £40 per ticket = £1.4m
            50,000 paying on avergae £30 per ticket = £1.5m
            No real differecne you say………
            So when you go to a game, you clearly don't;
            Buy a programme
            Buy any food or refreshment
            Visit the club shop
Purchase something from the club shop
            SPEND ANY MONEY WHATSOEVER!

It's not just the gate receipts that make the club money……….

          • bazzahammer says:

my sentiments exactly jolly! plus with stadium being a tourist attraction and with more worldwide superstars (i am not getting my hopes up by the way), it will only bring in more fans. plus with the shopping mall next to it the revenue will only go up!

          • celtichammer says:

Actually Jolly there has been no guarantee that we will own the match day concession stands. It has been completely absent from every Gollivan proclimation. You are also ignoring how much of each ticket will go to pay the rent?
Oh and here is one more thing since you seem to know so much, what are the chances of 50,000 people turning up to watch a team who are not challenging for honours? Yeah you missed that didnt you.
I know I know we wil lsign Beckham, AND Ronaldino AND Remy and that will make us brilliant so 50,000 people will be dying to get in to see a game BUT WAIT here is the problem with that, you have to spend a lot of money to get these players AND then you have to pay them a lot of money to keep them!
In fact adding £200k a week (3 good signings) to the wage bill means that 6500 tickets sold go directly to paying their wage.
I know what goes into making a clubs money and I KNOW this move spells disaster for the clubs finances.
Still why dont you just keep accepting what ever drivel that Gollivan spout as gospel and tell yourself that everything will be fine!

          • Soldier_Tom says:

Celtic, it may be a ploy, I am along with yourself one of Gollivans biggest critics, however when it comes to business, stupid they are not … I feel Beckham alone would add an additional 5000 fans, bring back an additional 5000 and add a new 5000 with bigger names and better access to the ground etc … this with, as the guys below have said adds merchandise sales to matchday revenue … it is only a vision but its all the same vision we'd all be aimimg for if we were in the chair …

          • celtichammer says:

Sorry Tom but if you think David Beckham could contribute around 10,000 tickets you are completely mistaken. Becks, legend though he is, is getting very close to the end of his career. How many people are going to part with their money simply to see him sit on a bench or play for 20mins.
People seem convinced that all we need is a 50,000 seater stadium and 50,000 people will turn up and empty their pockects at every concession stand.

          • Not sure how the new stadiums are being built in England, but over here in the States, the key element to the stadiums are the suites. Usually a corporation will buy them to use in sales. Also involved are the downpayment to the rights to seats, PSI. Winning teams do this this to inject extra monies + the price of the season tickets.

          • I tell you what, let's stay at Upton Park where for those who can't afford Season Tickets or can't get them through work commitments (me), have to pay nearly £60 for a matchday ticket in the cr@ppy Dr Martens stand.

Let's carry on watching the likes of Dyer, Gabbidon and Kovac, who really do not get my adrenaline pumping when in possession.

I would love to hear how some people here would take the club forward………but I think most would rather just criticise those who are having a go!

          • bloodylimey says:

You make a valid point, Celtichammer, reducing the prices across the board could prove counter-productive in terms of revenues. However, the 'cheap' tickets are likely to be 'gifted' in some way which allows the LOC to say there are getting something back and giving to the community. Kind of like Sunderland handing 5,000 tickets to school kids as they used to.
But looking longer term, you encourage a 'football on Saturday' tradition in the youngsters, who are likely to become long term supporters.
No even going into the merchandising and food/drink revenues….
Lets hope the Olympic Stadium has better beer than UP!!!!

  11. chrischris says:

    HaaaaaaaHaaaaaa! now its Ronaldinho!!

  12. Razor says:

reece dont know who you are but if you get a problem with this guy who insulted my fellow hammers supporters who are all giving there democratic views on transfer speculation and what team we put out this season ahead and enjoying posting then let me know as he already insulted ian and he knows as taken the posts off already but maybe a joke I dont like so if this guy wants to meet me inside or outside boleyn boozer he will know me for sure and we put can sort out his problem. Think reece your right about remy but he is so good trust me and will make huge difference to us adding clerc and another striker too must say like alot of others really looking forward to new season and will appologise to the two daves if most of speculation comes off as was not a fan of theirs but beginning to get impressed even if cole upson headless chicken and the crap sorry specs and sears also go off the radar

  13. whufc_lewis says:

i reckon we should go for ricardo carvalho he aint bad at £5m and we really need a strong back four plus i think hes a quality player

    • bazzahammer says:

sorry mate he would never leave chelsea for us and chelsea would not get rid of him, they would want more than five million for him anyway!

    • TerraceChant says:

There are alot of quality centre back available at the moment that would suit us down to the ground, the one that has not been mentioned as a target by any Prem clubs is William Gallas available on a free and would be about 35k a week and that has surprised me, but what a freebie back 4 Clerc, Gallas, Silvestre, Campbell all for nothing "Hmmm suits me Sir"

      • bazzahammer says:

gallas is good but his personality is the problem, like bellamy really. i would go for jay demerit, he was the "tough guy" in watford's defence and had a good world cup. plus he's on a free!

        • TerraceChant says:

Yeah would agreed with that but think Gallas has passion for the game, with De Merit, he would be an in and out player that I am sure would struggle in the Prem Watford are no top 10 team and although Championship football is solid it isn't the Prem

  14. leehammer says:

why remy , could not care less now ! message to sullivan get your arse to man city and take balatelli for 5 mill and cruz on loan for the season ,

  15. HammerRay says:

Only thing I have noticed lately is how our results have picked up under Avram, without Upson & Spector??
Funny that! (One goal conceded)?? Amazing. But anyway, welcome back Matt & Jonathon from your world Cup heroics! As usual, Matt will feel he should be the first name on the next team sheet!
    Don't fall for it Avram!

    • bazzahammer says:

haha yes wonder if they they will even make the team next year. can see spector as a back-up right back at the most. but with clerc possibly coming in and tomkins seemingly making that position his own now, i can see him being one of the first to go. upson is different. the young players coming through have said how much he's helped them progress and especially matt fry. i think he'll possible start against either mk dons or ipswich, they'll give him till january and if he hasnt improved they will move him on.

      • TerraceChant says:

Can see alot of players moving on Cole, Diamanti, Kovac, Gabbidon, Spector, Faubert, Behrami, Sears, Noble and Parker could all be on the move before the start of the season to bring us in line with the new Prem regulations, 8 home grown players in the squad so a few will get the chance for sure Tomkins, Hines, Stanislas, Collinson and Nouble will continue to get there chances this year with 3 more breaking in to the squad from the reserves, its going to be interesting who the 17 regulars are going to be

  16. EarlsCHammer says:

I simply do not want to move to the Olympic Stadium. A running track? Are you joking? I’ll only go to away games.

Take the Bobby Moore stand, redevelop the East stand so it is the same size as the the Bobby Moore and ‘wrap-around’ style and then meet it with the slightly smaller Brooking stand and you’ve got an extra few thousand seats. It would take us up to about 42, 45’000?! Except we wouldn’t be paying rent and there wouldn’t be a running track around it, meaning that the front row seats are still 30 metres from the pitch.

  17. VanHammer says:

Finally some silverware!!!!! Well done to the kids for bringing home the trophy.

  18. Mchummer says:

The two Davids are putting the money where their mouths are, instead of their feet for a change.Creating a nice media buzz saying we chasing big names like Beckham etc could help us get more games on Sky in the future, which is where the big money is.

  19. CamdenHammer says:

I think that we will sign clerc and remy as for beckham I think we have a chance but ronaldinho is a longshot. I think west ham should also get Nadir Belhadj from Portsmouth, I think ilunga should get sold and deprela will be a bright prospect. I also herd that Sullivan is in France finialising the deal for Remy.

  20. FleaTamer says:

Does anyone know where the final of the Uefa under 19s is going to be?

I am going on hols in Normandy on Friday and IF England beats Spain in the semis on Tuesday I wouldn't mind going a long to try and get a ticket to cheer on our very own Frank Nouble (note the IF in caps!!!).

  21. DevoDevo says:

More smokesceens keeping West Ham United in the news (free PR) whilst the REAL deals are being done!

BTW – went into the lakeside shop today to look at the new kit and couldn't believe the new away kit's hoops are printed on! When I had the classic 70's away shirt as a kid the two hoops were stitched on!

Even the retro shirts of the 80's are nothing like the originals I owned.

  22. AussieGraham says:

The Nice Chairman has stated' West Ham and Fenerbache are the only 2 clubs he has talked to and Remy definitely wants to come to West Ham although a suitable offer has not been made for the player yet'straight from the Horses mouth not the gutter press!

  23. EarlsCHammer says:

Interesting, what did the quality seem like apart from that DevoDevo? I'm looking forward to seeing the new shirts in person. Designs looks good but you never know the overall quality until you see them in person.

  24. codisz says:

Rumours in Holland say that Grant is looking for an assistant coach and his name is Zeljko Petrovic

He will sign a one-year deal this week and there also some rumours stating that Petrovic will convince Miralem Sulejmani to come aswell (although the latter rumour may not be true)

I do think we will make a signing this week!

  25. SirHamFan says:

More slack journalsim has Cole and Parker going "maybe" – in any other profession (I use this term liberally) you get bollocked for poor performance but not press hacks it seems

  26. Express stating Cole and Parker going for just over £20m…..love it!! Sullivan has already come out and said that Villa won't have the money to buy Parker, and Sullivan also knows that if he sold Parker then there would be uproar from the fans. I don't think he is silly enough to sell him, and from what Brady said in The Independant, Parker is the face and soul of West Ham……. I love journalism.

I'm not so sure about signing this Argie for £5m. Never heard of him, never seen him play, and will take a while to settle in. Would rather we just sign Remy, and then spend £5m on a decent centre back. Or even that £5m plus whatever we could get for Upson, and spend that on the back line. 2 new centre backs please, to go with Clerc at RB and Daprela at LB.

Looking forward to seeing Hitzlsperger playing and dominating the centre midfiled with Parker and Noble!!

    • Dujonwhu says:

totally agree in regards to Caraglio. I'm not saying he isn't a good player, but very unproven imo (looking at his record) at would take time to settle in for sure.

  27. AussieGraham says:

If you want a proven goalscorer, Raul is a great 2 year option, classy and is a proven goalscorer at the highest level he would really fire up the Hammers!

  28. Braderz says:

Nice Chairman has come out and stated that Remy is really interested in joining us and that neither Liverpool, Arsenal or Chelsea have made an offer for him, only us and Fenerbache, negotiations have begun and Remy wants a move to England, anyone else see where this transfer story is heading!

    • Yeahh, we'll sort out all the details then the Spuds will come in a jump it

Seriously though, I hope we get this guy!

      • Braderz says:

Yeah wouldn't surprise me one bit, everything will be agreed, he wil fly to England, driver will go down a wrong route to shite heart lane and he will sign for Spurs, common mistake though!

    • bazzahammer says:

yeah i agree but he's gonna say he wants to join us in he. its been obvious for a while he doesn't actually want to join us as much as aresnal and possibly liverpool, which you can't blame him for of course. i respect sullivan for trying to break his back in getting this deal done but i just hope he's not biting off more than he can chew!

  29. chrischris says:

If Parker's sold………….THERE WOULD BE WAR ON GREEN STREET AND IN THEYDON BOIS DAVID!!!!

  30. Roshi says:

I would get the old cheque book out and sign Bellamy post haste, love him or hate him (I'm in the hate camp) you cannot deny the bloke is a cracking footballer!

    • chrischris says:

somehow i dont want to agree with that, but i do Roshi.

    • if i thought he'd come back i'd have signed him already. he is a great striker and would fit into that 4-3-3 4-3-2-1 formation well out as a winger and we'd get him at a cut down price aswel. he did state he never actually wanted to leave so would he want to come back???????

    • I am definitely in the hate camp as well Roshi, quick clinical striker but I think he is a disruptive and divisive merconary who will bleed us dry for his skills, he spent his first season with us on the treatment table gave us one decent half season then walked, there must be other options we could find other than him his attitude to football stinks.

    • SkinnyChris says:

Yeah mate good call i've been thinking the same for a while. but im very much in the love him camp.
He always gave us 110% and he's quoted saying West Ham helped him enjoy football again.
Problem being now is that even if we could afford his transfer, could we afford his wages? I bet he's on 90k up there.

      • Roshi says:

Bellamy is running out of options, he will not get in the Man City team this year as it seems if you were from the Hughes era you are not part of the new managements plans.
His reputation stinks as both a disruptive individual and a snarling arrogant person, not many would be willing to take him on.
If he enjoyed his football at West Ham, he may see it as his last chance, knuckle down and forget the sham injuries that he has always been prone to getting, why not sign him, as I said earlier he is a cracking footballer and there is nowhere on this planet that would offer him the type of money he has been on at Man City. I could think of worse buys, like French teenagers who have never kicked a ball in the premier league for £13M…….we've seen it all before. Claret and Blue are our colours and we need to sign players who actually know that.

        • SkinnyChris says:

Bellamy was one of the best players in the premiership last season and Mancini is a complete idiot.

I take Bellamy over Remy. Proven quality over high expectation any day!

    • celtichammer says:

Bellamy is the type of player you love to hate when they are at other clubs but you can forgive his sins if he pulls on a Hammers jersey.
As you say he is an outstanding footballer and has the sort of ruthless will to win that we are lacking in our forward line.
If the figure of £6M that is being touted for him is correct then buying him back for £8M than we sold him for is an outstanding piece of business. I always felt that Dux played a blinder in getting that cash out of Citeh in the first place

      • Roshi says:

Gave you the old thumbs up for that one CH. Have a nice day

      • SkinnyChris says:

I hated Bellamy and i never wanted him to sign for us. but he won me over with his attitude on the pitch. And while he was with us i think he sorted himself out. Now he's a proper family man

It used to annoy me when he would moan at the other players especially as he was prone to many errors himself. But looking back now i think thats something we miss. If he was on the pitch against Wolves would we have been so pathetic?

I remember when Bellamy first left Upson suggested that he didnt get on with him and at first i thought it was good for the squad as a disruptive element had left. But maybe Bellamy didnt get on with Upson because Upson is a complete tool.

      • RoyClark says:

I've seen just £4m quoted, Celtic. At that price it would be a ridiculous steal and the fact he's a difficult bloke to get on with wouldn't matter.

        • celtichammer says:

I could forgive his transgressions for that kind of price Roy! The thing is at that price clubs will be lining up around the block for him, and you can bet that 'Arry will be leading the way.

When a bunch of went to see the Hammers in Ohio we stayed in the same hotel as the club. I saw Bellamy a lot. He was actually very personable and didn't mind taking pictures and all that. To me Bellamy really seems like he is having fun. And dare i say it sometimes it almost looks too easy for him.

i personally would take bellars back in a shot. when he had his first press conference as a citeh players thay asked him why he walked out of training, he said he didn't and that he left west ham on the best personal terms he'd ever left another club. the guy was dynamite in the box and he has been sorely missed by the club since he left. when upson came out saying he never got on with him, i wonder if most of the squad get on with him?

    • Goatygav says:

Can't bring myself to dislike him, Roshi, as he's proved himself the most selfless Premier League footballer with his work in Sierra Leone.

As for his on-field antics I genuinely think that he's got an extremely strong sense of right & wrong and finds it impossible to walk away from situations that he really should.

  31. Braderz says:

I wonder if West Ham will sign anyone this week, possible signings are:

    Remy
    Clerc
    Ben Haim
    Caraglio

    We will see.

And will West Ham be selling anyone this week, posibilities are everyone except Scott Parker haha.

  32. Braderz says:

Reports claim that Roma still want to sign Valon Behrami from us, they are prpeared to do a swap deal with them taking Behrami and us getting Doni and Okaka in return, what are you thaughts guys???

    • celtichammer says:

I thought Doni played for AEK?

      • Braderz says:

Im not sure, i just read this on news now, Doni the goalkeeper?

        • celtichammer says:

No you're right, he is at Roma, my mistake mate

          • Braderz says:

Oh right kool, no worries :) so what do you think about that offer Celtic?

          • celtichammer says:

Doni is a very decent keeper but Okaka did nothing to impress me at Fulham last season. Behrami for me is worth more than these two players combined. Maybe Doni plus cash would be a better deal.
I just think that there are options available on a free as a back up keeper, players like Cristiano Lupatelli who has played for Roma and Fiorentina and Timo Hildebrand who has been capped 7 times by Germany are both free agents and would make excellent additions. Dida is also available and still only 36 so has a couple of good years left in him and has never played in England so maybe he would fancy one last crack at the big time. If nothing else having him around can only do wonders for our young keepers.
I believe that if you are going to lose a player of Behrami's calibre you need a big name to replace him, not some rag tag deal that makes you look like you are giving up on your best players.

          • Braderz says:

Nice shouts there Celtic, transfer window is becoming incredibly interesting, Remy deal is fustrating me so much, just want him to be confirmed as a West Ham player.

  33. Braderz says:

    Prepared* sorry.

  34. SkinnyChris says:

ESPN reported earlier that up to 12 players with have to leave Man City this summer who would you guys take?

    Kompany for cb?
De Jong to replace Parker should he go?
    Stephen Ireland?
    Onouha?
Richards could be good at cb or rb?
Cruz….probably cheaper than Remy and a proven goal scorer?
Bellamy…..welcome back the nutter with a putter?

I'd take any of these players. I'm actually a big fan of Kompany. De Jong is class, but wouldnt be needed if parker were to stay (which i'm keeping everything crossed that he does).

    can we afford their wages?

are we good enough to sign them?

    • RoyClark says:

I'm not sure Kompany will be on that list, Chris, although if he is I'd take him. Wouldn't say no to Richards or Onuoha either. I'd like Stephen Ireland but we are OK in midfield. It's at the back where I think we've got the most issues to resolve.

    • bazzahammer says:

stephen ireland is a great player but his personality is off the radar apprently. have always liked richards and apperently onouha is very good apparently. would take bellars back straight away!

  35. FrankieBoyle says:

trouble is mate Santa, Bellamy, Dejong and Kompany were all brought in under the new regime meaning they are on mega bucks and we wouldn't be able to match the wages

I would love us to sign Onouha, Ireland as well but he would be looking at European football I would guess. Bellamy could be a goer – That would be brilliant

    • i think city would be preperd to loan out onouha if he was gonna get 1st team football, not sure they'd sell him yet as he is one of there up and coming talents. but i'd like him for the season at least.

    • lawro says:

City will either have to subsidise their wages in some way, or put them out on loan I would think. They can only have the maximum agreed number in the squad so they're a little over-staffed.

  36. DevoDevo says:

One of the reasons West Ham struggled so much last season was due to selling Bellamy & Etherington & having LBM out injured all season. This left us devoid of pace and unable to counter attack teams. It is evident that Grant appears to be selecting players with some pace.

Taking Bellamy back is a hard call. He could have been a legend at Upton park but chose to chase the filthy lucre rather than play at a club where he was appreciated. However, he is disruptive and can upset a harmonious dressing room. This is something that Grant wants to build.

On balance, I would swerve him now.

  37. Roshi says:

BLOODY SPURS ARE NOW NEGOTIATING ON THE OLYMPIC STADIUM.

  38. The rumour about Tottenham going for the Olympic stadium too must be bollocks, I'm pretty sure they're in the process of building a new white heart lane

  39. bazzahammer says:

wouldn't be surprised if remy joined us at weekend at this rate. i think the owners are using this transfer as a definate smokescreen for others signings to create the surprise factor like with hitzlesperger. there are quite a few players out there available that we could pick up but i am keeping the faith with the owners that they know what they are doing. im worried that the remy factor of "the new theirry henry" will turn out to be that he looks like him and not that he plays like him. i am adamant that they won't sell parker but im not too sure about cole though.

  40. hammerswest says:

Totally agree on that Celtic, personally I’d like to keep Behrami and Diamanti

  41. Well being the dedicated hammer that I am, will be off to the UK in the morning to catch the match against MK Dons on wednesday night. COYI!

  42. AussieGraham says:

Best buys of the century will be Man Citys clearance sale on the last day of the transfer window to comply with the allowed player numbers criteria per club, everything half price or less!

  43. hammerjames says:

carefull chris spurs will change it to fritzle

  44. MattRyan says:

Come on you claret and blues!!!!!!!!!

  45. rangi says:

These hacks are getting a full head of steam up now – todays its a new 2IC, winger on loan, French full back!!
Westham will have the biggest squad in the Premiership – wonder how the Daves will pay the wages.

Not saying we couldnt do with new players but its getting beyond a joke now.
