Manager Shortlist Revealed?

According to Sky Sports there are four managers on the shortlist to succeed Gianfranco Zola. They are Avram Grant, Dave Jones, Ian Holloway and Sam Allardyce.

If Sam Allardyce is appointed I would have to seriously consider whether I wanted to renew my season ticket. I pay £900 a year to watch football, not rugby.

anyway can people tell me why bilic would be a good appointment …dont give me he's west ham the guy spent two seasons then sacked us off for a better deal at everton .

    • AussieGraham says:

Why, because he knows more about the game than you will ever do ,very rich coming from Gary Johnson,s Number 1 fan you just swim in intelligence.

      • MattRyan says:

Sorry mate but I have to agree with Leehammer on this one! He rea;;y isn't experienced enough to manage a team like West Ham. We need an established manager, we really do! And to be honest, when he was in the frame before he just didn't want to know

        • AussieGraham says:

Matt ,leehammer is an insulting little gasfitter, who,s claim to fame is Gary Johnson would be a great manager for us,shows the class with that one statement.

          • MattRyan says:

That's fair play if it's your view mate :)

But maybe he actually thinks Gary Johnson WOULD be a good manager for us! :) Just like some of us here think Curbs would be! I think I'd rather have Johnson! lol

          • AussieGraham says:

Some people contribute decent posts but some are very rude this person is the latter everytime, shame really must be the education system in some establishments.

    • MattRyan says:

He won't! He's inexperienced at club level, not really done a GREAT deal with Croatia and like you said doesn't reallt have a high level of Loyalty!

Anyway, an article on another site sheds this light on it all:

David Sullivan's supposed shortlist of four managers has been revealed to be an example of 'journalistic license '.

Earlier today SkySports ran an item suggesting that co-Chairman Sullivan, along with partner David Gold had short-listed four managers – Avram Grant, Dave Jones, Ian Holloway and Sam Allardyce – for the post vacated last week by Gianfranco Zola.

However a Boleyn Ground insider has revealed that the aforementioned names were given in answer to a question unrelated the vacant managerial post – although one of the four, current Portsmouth manager Avram Grant, is currently considered by bookies to be the clear front-runner to succeed the Italian, who was fired last week.

Sullivan and Gold, who caused something of a stir with the manner in which they disposed of Zola's services following the culmination of a turbulent season are intially thought to have favoured the currently-unemployed Mark Hughes and new Wolfsburg boss Steve McLaren.

The former Blackburn and Man City boss is thought to have rejected the duo's overtures, whilst McLaren, who led minnows FC Twente to the Eredivisie title last season opted to move to Germany instead of returning to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Portsmouth administrator Andrew Andronikou has admitted that Avram Grant could well leave Fratton Park this week – whilst adding that he would support the Israeli manager regardless of his final decision.

"We'll sit down this week and have a discussion about his future. I want to make it clear we will support which decision he comes to. He's given unconditional support for us over the last four months when maybe other managers would have walked," said Andronikou.

"If he wants to leave we won't stand in his way. We'll give him our full support. We're not going to hold anyone to ransom. If he wants to move on we'll be behind that. I think all the fans would be behind that decision, too."

    • WetShamUtd says:

      Good spot Matt.
At least we can can rest a little easier knowing that our future manager shouldn't be fat Sam. It really does sound like Grant then doesn't it ?
I think that they would have tried to get Hughes but I guess he wasn't interested and is holding out for a better offer, although I can't see why as he is only an ok manager. As Aussie Graham has stated 1-5 is pretty short odds now, come on Avram bring us some glory !

  4. AussieGraham says:

Avram Grant, bookies favourite at 1-5 ,red herring 'shortlist' you would have to think.

  5. Roshi says:

Put a sock in it! you talk total rubbish with all the hatred that for some reason you insist on telling us. Its obvious nobody is interested.
It's a shame because when you talk football your posts are quite interesting.

  6. iaindale says:

I am afraid I deleted Celtic Hammer's comment as I considered it to be potentially libellous.

    • MattRyan says:

Fair play! I didn't even see it! lol

      • Goatygav says:

Sounds exciting – love a bit of controversy.

I was going to have a tenner on Curbs on the strength of the rumour that he took the reduced compensation offer in exchange for first refusal on the current opening.

Oh well – Paddy Power can't get tiddles back – there's nothing they can do about that! :D

        • MattRyan says:

Lol, I was just thinking "Surely Celtic wouldn't have said said something contraversial" lol ;)

I would keep your money mate! I'll tell you what if he does come back, I'll match that tenner, we can meet up, pop to Asda and buy a bottle of cheap whickey each and drown our sorrows! deal? lol

    • Roshi says:

Quite right Iain, I'm all for freedom of speech but he could cause all kinds of trouble not only for himself but also for WHTID.

  7. pjdpjd says:

cant understand the sudden excitement about signing pompy playerss.they were worse than ours and thats saying something

    • MattRyan says:

No mate they weren't at all! Some of the payers were brilliant in that team! We would have got whooped 5 or 6 nil in that cup final! They had NOTHING to play for in the league and they still gave it their all week in-week out, which a lot more than we did!

Smith, Piquionne, KPB etc… were all solid.

      • hammerjames says:

cant really agree there wouldnt trade one west ham player for a pompey player all overpaid mercanaries but then so is west ham players

1 o hara is a spud and wont be sold to us 2 when boatang missed his penalty his head went down and he was shocking never going to be good at west ham when our heads are constanly down 3 james is to old and greeno is west hamp 4 piqionne is 31 and about th same as cole so keep a younger version of him please 5 mullins is a never has been on big wages for a small player no thanks the only one i would consider is bel hadge and thats at a push my buys for the season would be as follows

  8. AussieGraham says:

Celtic,s posts are legendary and he is probably nearer the truth with a lot of the financial side than anyone on here could dream of and what a shame on the blog his opinion is greeted with fear and potential lawsuits, are you kidding?
Understanding of libel on a blog should always have a disclaimer attatched ,surely amongst fans of West Ham this site is a medium to voice opinions about everything involved with the club and the day libel becomes a word associated with the fans you would not have a fanbase, sad when you have to punish a fan who genuinely cares for their right to voice their opinion,so the UK is like the rest of the world governened by US politics and law.
Mind you if it happened to Enoch Powell ,what chance Celtic, sad day.

    • MattRyan says:

Mate, although Celtics posts are sometimes educational, sometimes not and sometimes so long I don't read them but he has a view and is entitled to that view (as are we all) but unfortunatley sometimes his posts are a little near the mark and as with any publication, either electronic or hard copy, comments can fall in to the wrong hands and action can and is taken.

I don't know what Celtic said and it's history now because it is gone but personally I think if it could have got either Celtic or the blog into any kind of trouble then Iain did the right thing in my opinion.

I don't like it any more than you mate but this is a world of electronic press and blogs and forums more often than not are subject to similar laws other establishments.

    • Unfortunately neither a disclaimer nor the use of the word 'allegedly' protects the publisher or the author from legal action if a libelous comment has been made.

Iain is protecting himself and, in all probability, CelticHammer.

Much as i dislike the two part-owners and am saddened by events at our once honourable club, it is not acceptable to make actionable comments about people.

      • AussieGraham says:

I am sure the 2 Daves have been called far worse over the years than by some passionate fan on this club. Why did so many people fight for their country and die in world wars? so we could reach a point of libel, litigation ?they were protecting the country and their beliefs!what is the difference with the way Zola was libelled by Sullivan yet Gold the lawyer plays good cop and at the death they both said Zola was sacked for undermining them in the press, honestly you would love to be a lawyer or a politician make it up as you go so long as it suits you at the time, well that is why the world is in a mess,to many lawsuits over crap that could have taken less than a minute to sort out but oh I forgot the rich need to get richer, dont worry about the poor man who fights wars for their country, when politicians decide but how come the politicians dont go and fight?why because they are gutless and cant lead men,Gutless!

    • Headmaster says:

I too enjoy Celtic's posts although I do see Roshi's point that of late his obsession with proving he was right about the double Ds is detracting from his obvious passion for the club and indeed his clear intellect on matters WHU.
That said, it's Iain's blog and I defend his right unreservedly to edit it in whatever way he sees as right and proper. He is an incredibly experienced blogger who is widely respected in both this and his political field and frankly, Graham, it is easy to sit with impunity and cast aspertions about an editorial decision you don't have to make, mate.
A sad day is when someone dies, not when someone's post gets deleted, eh?

    • celtichammer says:

Aussie I appreciate the support mate even if I am starting to feel a bit like Don Quixote!

  9. Headmaster says:

The phrase 'Sky Sports Understands' appears to have less and less credibility these days. (I hope that's not a libelous statement – lol!)

I echo the sentiment of those posters who said that BFS = non renewal of season tickets. I couldn't take it. End of.

Thanks Matt for setting our minds at rest and confirming that SSN just trot out similar hogwash to the Daily Fail and the red tops in this, the silly (close) season

    • MattRyan says:

No probs, I figured as much anyway but thought you might like to see it for yourselves. :)

Can you imagine going to support a team that Fatterdyce is managing? It doesn't bear thinking about does it?

  10. MattRyan says:

But mate, he hasn't been right about the Daves, no one has! It's too early to tell what they have in store for us. This time next year we will be able to say who was right and who wrong!

For all we know, they might invest £50Million on players this window (unlikely, I know lol) but that would then render the doubters wrong :)

At the end of the day, they have saved us and the fact that Celtic doesn't like them doesn't take that fact away. I agree that right now it doesn't look like they are doing much but we will see.

This is the ONLY way to prove anyone right or wrong. :)

    • Headmaster says:

Matt, you misunderstand me mate, I'm not saying that CH is right, merely that as he would see it he has a duty to continually drum home the message that he has consistently delivered because he is so convinced that he is right (not me!).
Like you, I am no fan of the self publicising way that Sullivan in particular seems to be choosing, but I absolutely believe that they saved our arses in January which is, as we all know, a country mile from CHs view.

      • celtichammer says:

HeadMaster I respect your opinion as much as anyones on here and more than most so I would like to hear how you think they saved us?

        • Headmaster says:

Drew you in then, eh? lol
Look, I guess I am just one of the 99% Celtic who have heard so much about the mess that we were in that I have to believe at least some of it, mate. I see what you are saying about the discrepancies between the variable amounts of the alleged debts that we owe, I get that, but whether it is 75m, 90m or even the (ludicrous?) 140m whichever way up you look at it, we weren't exactly solvent were we? And yes, I do realise that MUFC are in it and so are LFC and others but I reckon that at the end of the day we are closer in size and marketability to Portsmouth than either of those two and we all know what happened to them don't we.
I know that you understand finance far far far more than I ever will. And that is not me being sarcastic mate, trust me. But, I now believe it is time to bury the hatchet and get behind cause WHU – and that, for the record, includes the Double Ds.

          • MattRyan says:

Sometimes it's easier not to look too far into things! We are fans, not banks! :)

All we need to do is go to the games, watch them on TV and get behind them! ALL of them.

The club belongs to THEM, if and when they decide to trash it, then we can start to rebel! But right now can't we all just get along and be fans :)

      • MattRyan says:

Ahhh I see, then I hold my hands up and apologise.

I don't necessarily think Celtic is wrong OR right! I just feel that it's way too early to make judgement! I can see where Celtic is coming from, the Dave's aren't exactly renowned for their prolific club ownership now are they?

But…….I also think maybe Celtics hatred of the duo is clouding his judgment and realisation of what might actually happpen.

Whether we hate them or love them, they have done us a massive favour so far by investing THEIR OWN money. I don't believe for a second they want us to fail and they are good businessmen (or tey wouldn't have had that money to invest) so all I say is lets just see what happens :)

        • Headmaster says:

          Absolutely right imo Matt.
I would say to Celtic that when some of us supported him in his rebuttals of the cyber stalker he is currently in danger of falling into a similar trap in terms of his continuance of his war of attrition appertaining to the Davids.
I too am firmly in the 'let's wait and see' camp. It goes without saying that I hope Celtic is wrong. I guess he feels the same way!

        • celtichammer says:

HeadMaster I would love to be proved wrong, I certainly do not put my ego ahead of the welfare of the club.
However the clubs financial situation was not in danger, you can not be declared insolvent if you are paying your debts and there is no record anywhere of us having problems meeting our obligations,

        • celtichammer says:

They didnt invest their own money into the club, technically they invested it into Straumur (their recent statement at their creditors meeting proves that). That transaction did nothing to alter the clubs financial position.

          • MattRyan says:

Yes, they invested in Straumur and in return gained control of the club, ok so maybe they didn't actually invest in the club itself but the money they invested has of course affected the financial position of the club and without that investment we would still be under control of Straumur and possibly in teh Championship now.

  11. MattRyan says:

This is getting tedious! The hatred of Sullivan and Gold is getting tedious! Ok, we get it, some of you don't like them! We understand that! But they are here and they are staying, get used to it…….

If you are West Ham supporters, then SUPPORT the club! The fact is, no matter what you think of them, they are going to do what they are going to do! They might invest in some decent players, they might not! They might employ a manager you like, they might not! They might run the club into the ground, they might not! but at the end of they day, there is pretty much nothing we can do about it.

We are fans, we don't need to know where every penny that the Dave's spend goes. Celtic mate, you are turning this into a personal mission to destroy the world! You did it with Cole and to be honest, you wasn't right about him! You might be right now, you might not be, I hope you're not!

We cleared the air between us a few months ago and I have nothing but respect for you as a person and as a fellow Hammers supporter. Now I am asking you to get back to what you do best and that is support the club and comment on the signings and departures like we all used to!

Anyway, that's my rant! It will probably fall on deaf ears but we live in hope :)

  12. SEHammer says:

Daily Mail is saying Grant has agreed a 3 year deal!

  13. MattRyan says:

I know it;s only the Mail but they have reported Grant has signed a 3 year deal! Hope they are right!

"Avram Grant is set to be unveiled as West Ham’s new manager after agreeing a three-year deal at Upton Park.

West Ham co-owner David Sullivan has moved swiftly to get his man after Grant was given permission to discuss terms by Portsmouth administrator Andrew Andronikou on Monday.

Grant performed a minor miracle by guiding the club to Saturday’s FA Cup final against his former side Chelsea and has been handed the chance to revive West Ham’s fortunes after their flirtation with relegation under Gianfranco Zola.

There could yet be an issue to be resolved regarding compensation for Grant, but the Israeli manager believes he is free to leave Fratton Park for nothing after going unpaid for several months due to Portsmouth’s much publicised financial problems.

Grant’s first move in the transfer market is likely to be for Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara, who spent last season on loan at Fratton Park, and he could also be tempted to try and bring David James back to Upton Park."

    • SkinnyChris says:

on the O'Hara front mate i heard that west ham have dropped their interest in signing Connor Wickham, leaving Spurs to sign him.

Is this a sign that we are just about to sign a spurs player.

These things do happen where there is a bit of 'you can sign our player if you dont compete to sign someone we want'.

O'Hara would be great for us, just hope his back wont be a persistant problem

  14. Braderz says:

According to unconfirmed reports in some of this morning's papers, Avram Grant is set to be named new manager of West Ham after agreeing terms last night.

It is said that Grant – who saw his Portsmouth side beaten by Chelsea in Saturday's FA Cup final – has signed a three-year deal to become the 13th full-time manager of West Ham United, after Portsmouth gave him permission to speak to other clubs.

The former Israeli national coach made his name in England by leading Chelsea to the final of the Champions League, which they lost on penalties following John Terry's well-documented gaff. He remains the only manager of the west London club to reach the final of the competition.

Having been moved on by impatient Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich the 55-year-old returned to England – and the club from whom Chelsea poached him in 2006 – halfway through last season to try and achieve mission impossible with Portsmouth. Although Pompey were relegated, by some margin, they still managed to reach the final of the nation's premier Cup competition.

  15. Braderz says:

If this is true the nhopefully we will have it all confirmed at some point today, it would be highly likely that if it were true, Grant would be unveiled this morning. Then hopefully he can enter the transfer market straight away and firstly sign a few of his pompey players like o'hara, Boateng and any others you would like. Would love to see o'hara play alongside Parker. But lets just see if this news is true first before we look at anything else.

  16. Dujonwhu says:

Bel Hadj looked very bright when he come on in the later stages of the game against Chelsea.

I hope Grant does become our manager!

    • chrischris says:

was he a left footer,if so sign him!

      • Dujonwhu says:

        Yes he is a lefty!

        When you think about it,

If Faubert played right wing and Belhadj played Left Wing, both seem to have pace and great crossing ability, plus could help out greatly in defense as well. (considering they've played right back/left back this season)

  17. AussieGraham says:

To everyone who argues about West Ham United,s future go to the Official site and read the Ten Point Pledge about our future,SENSATIONAL!

  18. graybomeister says:

I have edited this post, because it was originally posted on a misunderstanding regarding names (Graybo being a variation on Graham, so I thought HeadMaster was commenting on something I'd posted, when in fact he was replying to AussieGraham). Apologies if I cluttered up your inbox, HM, or anyone else, with an unnecessary and irrelevant 'alert'.

  19. chrischris says:

Selling on Greeno for James, Hmmmm people won't like that.
Who ever takes over is going to have a tough task of convincing players to sign.

  20. Goatygav says:

I've also just read the Olympic Stadium Bid update on the official site posted earlier this week. Gotta give them their dues – they seem to be doing a good job of trying to secure the Stratford facilities which I believe will help take the club forward in the future.

  21. ive sussed it,this is how sky sports work…….

Breaking news…."curbs seen at upton park this morning making him favourite for a sensational return to manage his beloved west ham"

what was actually said "workmen seen working on curbs outside upton park "

there is no way west ham would release a "list" because that then becomes tapping up ! sky sports bull.and i pay these lieing @@@@ 60 quid a month !!!whos the muppet ?

  22. andyhammer says:

Part of the 10 point pledge was to bring in players who are

" hungry to do well who share our ambitions and aspiration"

Presumably that hunger is the reason why Mido and McCarthy were brought in. If you ask me they need a little less "hunger."
Drop the bacon sandwiches and do a few more laps of the training pitch might help

  23. HammerHeart says:

More newspaper reports today that we have signed Govou. If Avram Grant is set to takeover, he had better get his hands on the petty cash tin quickly before the Dave's spend it all:S

  24. kevin57 says:

let's not have any knee jerk reactions now..Sam plays the hand he is dealt and is proven at delivering the minimum we hope for in any given season- avoiding relegation. Also according to a coach at one of the UK's most successful sports i was speaking with recently .. to which nearly all football clubs have visited to try and understand their methods.. BiG Sam and Mark Huges are the only Prem managers who really understand the mechanics of high perfromance sport; now before you all start shouting about Alex, Jose, Arsene.. of course there is more to winning in football but at least Big Sam- a man i have no particular affection for- makes the best of himself and the teams he manages.. I bet newcastle wish they'd given him more time that they did.. they wouldn't have been relegated and we may have seen a new expansive newcastle at the end.. i'd prefer Grant but Sam is far from bad news. it's not as if we have been playing vintage football ..can't remember when we last did.

    • MattRyan says:

Sorry but couldn't agree less mate! Season by season by season, Fat Sam is happy to finish mid-table! No flare, no excitement and no prospects! Sorry but I would rather play Zola's style of football and get relegated than watch that!

  25. Salesh says:

Dont diss rugby its a great game :D My country's (New Zealand) national game .

But yes i would agree with you that Big Sam will be nothing but zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. I remember the game we played against blackburn away man that was a tough watch.

  27. SkinnyChris says:

just saw the O'Hara interview on Sky Sports.

He says that Grant is of course interested in West Ham because its a big club and that we have the potential to be as big as Arsenal and Tottenham.

Perhaps the biggest come get me call i've seen in a while. Flattery will get you everywhere young Jamie. Looking forward to seeing you in a West Ham shirt come August!!!

He also says that he's best mates with Boateng so maybe they are both coming our way?

    • MattRyan says:

I saw that too mate and was going to say the same.

"West Ham have the potential to be as big as maybe Spuds and Arsenal" – In other words, "If I say nice things about your new club boss, will you take me with you pleeeeeeeeeeeease"
      :)

    • eric_nyc says:

I really hope this is true. West Ham has supporters across the globe. That support needs to be nurtured and used to the clubs advantage. COYI!!!

  28. SkinnyChris says:

is our midfield next season going to be:

    Govou, Parker, Boateng, O'Hara?

I think id' be more happy with that than:

    Behrami,Kovac, Parker, Noble.
Probably the most deep midfield in the history of the premier league.

I think more than anything though we need to strengthen the defence to give the midfield the confidence to attack.

    • Good point regarding strengthening the defence as this will breed confidence into the midfield allowing them to play more freely rather than sitting deep. Its strange because our midfield was strong in Zola's first season in particular Behrami and Collisons work rate. I still think there is room for Behrami to play a holding midfield role. Not to bothered about Boateng don't really see him as a great improvement on any of our midfielders. I would prefer us to go for a really classy midfielder to complement Parker.

      • SkinnyChris says:

I'm not a massive fan of Boateng either but he could prove useful. He can either be class or bambi on ice.

Personally i'd like to see Behrami go, i just don't think he's needed. We have too many holding midfielders and he's not good enough to start ahead of Parker.

My ideal midfield next season would be:
        Faubert, Parker, Sidwell, O'Hara

But as mentioned our Defence more than anything needs a complete sort out. I think that maybe we should keep upson but he needs an experienced CB with pace to partner him. And we need an experienced LB and RB

  29. MattRyan says:

Well at least Blackburn are ruling out any chance of Fat Ignorant Sam leaving them! :)

Come on Avram, sign that piece of paper mate!

    • SkinnyChris says:

Blackburn haven even been approached and i doubt Cardiff or Blackpool have either.

I bet the real shortlist was:

      1) Hughes
      2) martin Jol
      3) McClaren
      4) Grant

I wonder if they added both Jones and Holloway just so they were criticised for turning heads before the playoff final?

  30. MattRyan says:

Another piece of good news (if it's true):

    "Portsmouth manager Avram Grant
Was the FA Cup final Grant's last game as Portsmouth manager?

Portsmouth's administrator Andrew Andronikou has said the club would not demand compensation for manager Avram Grant if he left the debt-ridden club.

Israeli Grant, 55, is rumoured to be on a shortlist to take over at West Ham, who sacked Gianfranco Zola on 11 May.

Grant revealed before Saturday's 1-0 FA Cup final defeat by Chelsea, that he had been approached by other clubs about becoming their manager.

West Ham have vowed to recruit a new boss in time for pre-season training.

A statement from the Hammers read: "Our efforts are focused on recruiting a high-calibre manager with the necessary experience to deliver good football and, most importantly, results.

What are the chances of Avram Grant being appointed West Ham manager this week?

"A shortlist of candidates has been identified and the appointment will be made with enough time to prepare for pre-season."

Grant admitted before the FA Cup final that he was unsure of his future at Portsmouth and that he could leave if the club was not to quickly find a more stable footing.

He said that he had many offers during the season but stayed at Fratton Park because "my heart told me to" but he added that he did not "want to have another season like this".

Portsmouth became the first Premier League club to enter administration, in February, with debts of £138m and was docked nine points before eventually being relegated to the Championship.

West Ham have similar debts, totalling £110m according to co-chairmen David Gold and David Sullivan, who have unveiled a 10-point plan to take the club forward.

As well as recruiting a new manager, Gold and Sullivan have plans to move the club from the Boleyn Ground at Upton Park to the London 2012 Olympic Stadium, continue investment in the club's academy and freeze season ticket prices for renewals."

WestHam have debts of £110M according to Gold and Sullivan so basically they have increased the debt from the £95M reported in the books after telling us they took steps to reduce the debt by £15M (though there is no record of it anywhere in the books) before the accounts were published?
How the hell can anyone believe a word these guys say!

It was Straumur that stated the debts were £110 mate, the last article I read on that matter said that the Daves said it was "significantly higher" – If you ask me, it was Straumur that were a little sketchy with the actual amount. But like I said last night, I (or any of us here) have no idea exactly what the club owe! And to be quite hinest mate, I don't really want to know!

All I need to know is that the Dynamic Duo are going to stick to their '10 point plan'.

I know you don't like them mate but I think you are letting your hatred of them ruin your enjoyment of supporting our great club! Why not just accept that they are here and they are probably staying and try to embrace the good things they want to do for us?

I have seen you when you have been in your 'supporting mode' and to be honest (an only saying this as a cyber-friend) your posts are lot more enjoyable than the ranting mate :)

Matt the clubs official accounts put the debts at £95M.
As for my hatred of sullivan and gold it has nothing to do with them (although I would have precious little time for someone who made their money they way they did) it has everything to do with the damage they are doing to the club and the way people believe every story they put out.
No one has anything other than "the daves said" as a reason for why they believe they saved the club from administration. Trust me there was no chance of us going into administration due to the financial situation at the club. If there was even a hint of it the 5banks who hold £35M in loans to the club would never have renegotiated our loans back in November.
Of all the interested parties the only ones to bang on about administration was Gollivan, the clubs finances did not seem anywhere near as disasterous to the other bidders.
Their plans for the olympic stadium do not stand up to scrutiny yet people happily buy into the myth.
I am not someone who can be blissful in ignorance its simply not me, but I am not blinded by hatred of Gollivan, in fact I applauded them when they said they were launching a claim against those who gave the club legal advice during the Tevez affair.
How people can ignore their constant ( i will choose my words carefully here for Iains sake) telling stories that dont turn out to come true is beyond me.

Mate, I'm not for a second suggesting we should believe everything they tell us, all I am saying is like you, I am sick of hearing "we're gonna do this and we're gonna do that" or "we are going to sign him" and I will refuse to comment on them any further until I get solid evidence either way whether it is all hot air or not.

The point I am trying to get across is that they are here for what looks like the long term and even though you might say your hatred of them isn't affecting your judgement, it certainly looks different mate.

And as for the 'official' club records, it wouldn't be the first time a clubs and it's so-called professional accountants have fabricated the final figures now would it? And it certainly won't be the last :) (Pompey).

Anyway mate, just be chilled and enjoy the world cup and the world class players we are going to sign in the summer ;)
