West Ham v Bolton: Match Preview

Bolton have been a bit of a bogey team for us in recent years – indeed, we have lost our last five games to them. But it’s vital we don’t repeat that form today. Three points would see us on 30 points. But just as importantly, we need to remember that our next two games are against Chelsea and Arsenal.

Bolton have a number of injury worries. Our only new absentee is Mark Noble, who has an injured arm. Thankfully Scott Parker is fit again. I susoect, therefore, we will see the same lineup that did so well against Burnley, which means no starting place for Jack Collison again.

Green
Faubert
Spector
Tomkins
Upson
Kovac
Parker
Diamanti
Behrami
Franco
Cole

  1. Noble being injured is a good omen – he's lost his way in my eyes and we play mujch better and usually win when his not playing. Just say no to turds.

Couldnt agree more . . .he looks slow and weak this year and Kovac beside Scottie is much more important I feel!! Isn't it good that we all agree on the team to play . .. nmo excuses this is the moment when we push so we can nearly smell safety. All the other teams around us have tough games today so we need to make this count!! COYI!!!

  2. This is another on our must win list of home fixtures. We might have lost the last five games but this is a different Bolton side and we are a different West Ham. Looking forward to another big performance from the team with the vocal backing of the crowd. Save the manager and save the world. COYI!

Losing today doesn't bare thinking about, loing today and then playing away at Arsenal and Chelsea could drag us way back down into the relegation zone. We are in a position where we have to win game like this, or we'll go down.

I hope we start the game as we did VS Birmingham and Hull; really up for it from the start. Get in their faces, when they have the ball and pass it around them when we're attacking!

God, I hope we win! Get them fired up Zola!

    COYI!

Long time no seen. But here I am, once again, with THE feeling:
A victory is on its way coming to us!

Cole to bag three: 3-1 to us.

I just hope Nobes gets fit soon. His form is finally getting better (Pompey, ManU)

LIke I posted yesterday, I expect to win today, by a comfortable margin, cos Bolton are playing some of their worst football (if ya can call it that) in years…

Funnily enough, the one thing that scares about todays game is that things have been awful quiet this week… generally we play better, have more about us and have more passion when things are noisy around the club…

I hope I'm wrong, cos it would be great to have things quiet off the field and good on it… but this is West Ham… its never that easy…

I am vary wary of the Bolton banana skin … I think we'll need to score two or three to get past them … hopefully an unchanged side from the last home game and we'll go at them from the off … 2-1 or 3-2 to the Irons for me

Key word for today and the rest of the season is ATTITUDE. We must go straight into each game positive and ready, we have to start from the very first whistle right up until the last. Work hard throughout the game and we will get there, we have no time to start playing when we go a goal down, it is no good. No excuses anymore wether we hit the bar 18 times and the post 14 times and the keeper has a blinder, it doesn't matter, get the ball in the net one way or another wether it be a diamanti 40 yard screamer or a dodgey own goal, it doesn't bother me or any of you i am sure how the ball goes in the net. Forget our bad run of form against them, we just have to play like a typical home side and scare the living dalights out of them, we will have good subs with Dyer (if he can last 4 blooming minutes) and also Mido and ilan who can come on and help if we need it. Here's hoping the boys can scrap out a result today.

Good shout Braderz, spot on. It'll be interesting to see what the attitude will be like when things have been quiet the last 10 days or so, cos it can tend to be flat if there's any perceived comfort in our position or how we're playing…

I think we'll know in the first 10 mins if things are on the ball or not…

The interantional break has really fustrated me to be honest because it will have an effect on the team as a whole when cole, green and upson have all been training with England, so like you say we will be able to tell how things go straight away. It is a very big game for us today but many are woried about us not winning this because of our next two games, ok fair enough it is chelsea and arsenal away but they are both teams that we can beat. But i am most focused on today and hoping that the boys give a good performance so that we can get a good solid result. 3 points very much needed today to help us keep a little bit clear of danger.

    Must Must win, 4 4 2 please.
Like to see Collison in for Kovac but can't have everything i guess.
will be watching Franco closely, hes dew a goal, otherwise he could be dropped.
Boltons our bogey team, its about time we re-write the history books.
    COYI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. According to the Telegraph, Sullivan has been up to his tricks again, undermining Zola and the squad. Let's hope it's a thumping win and the players make a visible demonstration of support for Zola and a public embarrassment for Sullivan.

  10. safhammer says:

I am worried. We are going into this match with high expectatios. If we dont score early, we might drop our heads and begin to play with too much huff and puff and no proper method. A Bolton goal might just kill us off. So I hope that we are prepared also to graft away if needed. We should be able to secure the 3 points, but beware looking at an easy 3 points, that just is not possible in the premier league. Patience and hardwork will breakdown Bolton. Then it is all downhill and we can coast to victory.

  11. cahillcc says:

Team lineup in, same as predicted above by Iain… no surprise there…

    Attack, attack, attack….

anyone got a livestream for today ?

  13. It's time for eleven men in claret and blue to stand up be counted. Yes I know Rob Green wears grey but you know what I mean. Let's get to them from the off. Harry them in midfield, play up the pitch and keep connected with Cole and Franco. We have nothing to be frightened of here. It's home game against inferior opposition let's grind out another home win. Fans behind Zola and the team make some noise!
    C O Y I !
