That performance was totally unaaceptable. We had no passion or fight. With Chelsea and Arsenal away next we really are in deep trouble. Zola is a poor manager, and we are a poor team.

    • IantheHammer says:

Spot on. Zola has this bizzare imageof playing great football but I don't see it. His tactic's have been wrong all season & now we've got a full team it's too late. How can Coyle get Bolton to play like that but Zola can't , even though all we hear from our players is how great Zola is, pathetic. People knocked Curbs but, sorry, how can Zola be regarded as a better manager. Not interested in all the "we had no money" excuses. We will go down because of him if other very poor teams pull their fingers out. very upset. He's had more than enough time to put his mark on our club & I feel he has. Cluless.

      • tlovegrove says:

Zola has the worst win percentage ratio of any West Ham manager ever. That simply proves how bad he is. I have blasted his tactics and attitude throughout the season. I still think he thinks we're some top 7 side, when we are relegation fodder. Hope Man Utd beat Wolves, and Everton beat Hull. We must improve next week at Chelsea or our goal differeence will be smashed.

Pretty poor all around. Especially agree with the no passion.

While Cole had ticked up a bit in my eyes, he has gone right back to the poor player; reasonable first touch — everything else, pretty awful. Poor decisions, poor touches. Upson showed no hustle, no heart, no effort. Parker good at what he does; still can't finish—EVER. Kovac gave some effort. Faubert was poor today; very poor crosses. Behrami was awful in the first half. Spector again covering for Upson with no help from Diamanti. Diamanti clearly *wants* to play on the right and cut in. He put in a great cross in the first half on the left wing, but scored on the right wing. Yes, Stan unlucky with the crossbars, but they hit one too. We were physically mauled out of the stadium again. Franco was very very poor. Tomkins really awful decision on the goal; he still has a lot to learn: give the throw or even the corner there.

  3. pjdpjd says:

i will be surprised if tomkins and upson get a total mark of 3 between them.absolute disgrace.upson as a captain is a joke.its a sad day when i can honestly say kevin davies slaughtered them all ends up.carlton cole was back to his bambi on ice routine, well thats when he could be bothered.i am diamantis biggest fan but i was disgusted when he bottle3d out of the challenge with muamba which caused the first goal.sxcott parker tried his best as usual but he hasnt got a left foot,if he did we may have been level at one stage and also scottie if u go down in the area there has to be someone close to you.this performance was unacceptable .zola has to take some of the blame but you cant blame him for diamantis lack of guts or tomkins lack of a brain.i am so angry tonite cos i really thought we would come out all guns blazing but we were out muscled outfought and also worryingly as it was bolton outplayed.oh yes as for the morons near me who booed and made crass comments each time dyer touched the ball.,stay at home next week.

  4. Where is the form? Where is the passion? Where is the fight? Where is the finishing – from anybody (- diamanti goal)? Going to be a long week!

  5. pjdpjd says:

as a footnote i hope i havnt spoilt yr weekend with my rant,im off to poison my liver with far too many red stripes.but listen please drink sensibly, dont spill any

  6. HammerRay says:

    I give up!
I suppose this is what being a Hammers fan is all about, so we should be used to it, but now we are back in the brown stuff big time.
Nothing short of a win would have been good enough today. I'm gonna drown my sorrows tonight and kick the cat to bits!

  7. chrischris says:

relegation is going to be close, but I still think Burnley hull wolves are worse than us.
Tomkins was rubbish he must be dropped, ball watching again, spector all over the place, and Faubert bottled the header for the first goal,a crazy first 20 and game over, all the problems down our left, where is Deprela? he is twice as good as spector who is always an accident waiting to happen.
diamanti must be placed up front with cole he has guile.
Franco thats 3 games now no shots, sorry but holding up the game only!!! is not good enough.
We are in crap again, christ zola dont give me the excuse to slag you off on this site, please!!!

    • pjdpjd says:

christ mate this is twice i have agreed with you.burnley and wolves yes, also i think hull are worse than us.it may go down to the wire though.diamanti up front is not the worst idea ive heard but boy did he p..s me off today when he bottled the tackle for the first goal

  8. chrischris says:

I would say 4 5 6 from bottom is about right, we have to many average players.

  9. chrischris says:

told you we should of bought Davis.

    • RoyClark says:

Chris – you can only buy players if:
      1. You have money
      2. The other club wants to sell
      3. The player wants to join you.
I suspect we don't meet any of those criteria.

  10. Jolly says:

Evening all, just back from the game and still seething!!!!!
Tomkins and Upseon were worse than poor – Tomkins gave the single worst individual performance since Alan Mcknightmare in the 1985 league cup semi final. But he was only marginaly worse than Upson and Franco. AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL……..
Oh and as for Mr Probert – not fit to be the man in the middle. If he had done his job properly, Bolton would have been down to 10 men before half time and Jussi would have been on a yellow by 30mins in….shocker!

  11. chrischris says:

    oh yeah Midos getting fatter.
Still no width even with a left footer on the left, worrying.

    • cahillcc says:

He's getting fatter cos all he can afford on a grand a week is Pizzas and burgers… though it would help if he didn't eat both at the same time…

  12. chrischris says:

    NEWSFLASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
I'm hearing from a good source Zolas gone!!!!!

  13. Roshi says:

You cannot play pretty football with rubbish players or should that be inconsistent players, or should pretty football be tactically inept …….confused, annoyed and thinking, do I need this when I have Bromley to go and watch in the Conference South.

  14. Jolly says:

Green – no fault for the goals but needs to marshall the back4 better – 6
Faubert – Passing poor, covering poor, decisions poor, poor – 4
Upson – Rubbish. Why was he not marking Davis, why did he pass him to Tomkins? – 3
Tomkins – Worst player on the pitch. Utter shocker – 2
Spector – Not a left back, never will be a left back. – 4
Parker – tried his best, made some good runs forwadrs but lacks creativity or goals – 6
Kovac – hit and miss, today more miss than hit – 5
Behrami – ran around like a headless chicken at times and didnt have his best game – 5
Diamanti – at fault for the first goal, but still looks our best attaking threat – 6
Franco – utter, utter rubbish .No pace, no guille, no threat to the opposition – 4
Cole – his worst game for yonks, made no effort to get back on side and dwardled in front of goal – 5
Dyer – little impact but at least had a go – 5
Junior – should have been on earlier as he has pace to threaten Bolton – 5
Mido – at least 2 stone overweight and still faster than Franco – 5

  15. chrischris says:

Zola…..1 step forward 2 steps back, come on guys hes got to go,hes useless!!!!!!!!

    • tlovegrove says:

Totally agree. He's completely useless. We are going backwards under him. Personally, I feel I have given him time but I would support Sullivan if he wants to wield the axe.

  16. chrischris says:

I didn't speak to 1 person at upton park today who wants to keep zola.

  17. chrischris says:

    Faubert upson my gran Deprela
collison behrami parker my grans left footed mate
    cole dyer

  18. chrischris says:

    DOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. LoftyPerch says:

    What a gutless display.
Out muscled, out thought and out fought.
Too many shocking performances to lay the blame with any single individual.
That said, two of our so-called England players have a lot to answer for.
As far as I'm concerned, Upson and Cole can go to S. Africa, and stay there.
I am still fuming about those two big-time Charlies who yet against stink the place out straight after an international call up.
If Upson thinks he can hold us to ransom over a new contract, he should review a tape of this match, and be thankful if he gets an offer at all.
As for Cole, don't get me started. He's a powder-puff merchant with the heart and fight of kitten.
He's 6ft 4in for Christ sake yet seldom wins a header, never intimidates defenders and finishes up on the deck after every 50-50.
Give me Kevin Davis every time.

  20. cahillcc says:

I didn't see the game, but sounds like we lacked any kind of passion for the fight… typified by the first goal with Diamanti on his backside… not sure if thats Zolas or the players fault… probably Zolas cos its happened so often this year…

Brings me back to the Brum game, maybe Sullivan knew exactly what he was doing when he stirred it all up the day before the game… sounds like its the only way some of our international "stars" will get their finger out…

Still don't see us being relegated.. Chris is right, Wolves, Hull and Burnley (and maybe one or two more) are much worse than us… and I can see Pompey upsetting a lot of teams before the end of the season too… but the home game with Wolves now becomes massive…

  21. PaulODecanyo says:

Just back from the game. In all the years I've been going to Upton Park this has to be one of the worst, clueless and classless performances ever. For decades we've prided ourselves for playing attractive football, which has often had to make up for indifferent results. Today was absolutely dreadful. No width, pace, power, bite, direction – you name it, if it was positive, we didn't have it. And it wasn't if Bolton were good. Our woeful defending made them look like Brazil. With no-poniter away games coming up, we're right back in the fight. What disappointment, what does the future hold for the club, individual players and our place in the Premiership next year – assuming we survive this season?

  22. kimse3 says:

The worst performance by West Ham I have seen since my poorly thought through News Years Day visit to Reading a few years ago. I don't think any of us would have picked a different team from the one who were on the pitch. It would have been nice to see them try to earn their wages or at least look like they cared

  23. AussieGraham says:

I said Zola was crap got slaughtered by the armchair managers on here and what more proof do we need? he had 10 days between games to prepare most of these boys honestly he is to blame he is the head honcho the buck stops with him.
Someone on here give us a reason as to why he is the person to take us forward he is clueless and responsible for the fear the players have and Steve Clarke it shows the accolades you got were due to the world class defenders you had at your disposal, not good enough for premier league management boys give Avram Grant a call for advice.

  24. AussieGraham says:

Cahill it could cost us 60 million plus if we dont and I tell you Wolves outplayed Manu today they wont be easy to beat so we are running out of games.

  25. andyhammer says:

    Alan pardew?

What do we expect? We are West Ham fans. The club has always let us down. The have always been short-changed. I'm 34 and I can never remember a time where we weren't taken the piss out of.
We've had some amazing players over the years but as a unit and as a club, collectively they just don't care enough about playing for us. Money rules nowadays.
Gone are the days of Billy Bonds, Geoff Hurst, Bobby Moore, Trevor Brooking, Julian Dicks. We've always had good players but there is a losing mentality at the club. You can only get rid of that by winning trophies consistently and that is not going to happen.

  26. andyhammer says:

I've been saying for ages that Diamanti's position is not left wing. He can't track back and today we lost because we got sucker punched early on – due to Diamanti being shrugged off the ball. This happened against Man Utd and again today. My major concern is that Zola is not learning by his mistakes.
Collison has to play left midfield. this is far from ideal, but he gives us solidity. The only left-winger at the club is Boa Morte. It could turn out that Boa Morte is a very important player for us until the end of the season. It's like we have a gaping wound down that side

To lose I can handle but to lose without any spirit and passion – and with a naive selection – it's just so frustrating. We went down with far better players than this mob. I think these players think they are better than they are!

    • Headmaster says:

I can see where you are coming from with that analysis Andy but reckon that there is little chance of GFZ making significant structural changes with 10 games to go.
When we saw the teamsheet prior to the game, pretty much the same personnel that battered both Hull and Birmingham, I'm sure most of us thought it should be good enough to at least squeak a narrow win. The greater concern for me is how, with 10 non competetive days to prepare, we send out a team that is clearly not up for it.
I think your last setence is very apposite.

  27. HammerRay says:

I agree Andy, some truly woeful performances today, and I can only assume Tomkins was on the sauce last night, or even this morning as he was utterly hopeless throughout, and I usually like him! My Dad was 81 yesterday and he could beat Franco over a 50 yard sprint based on today. Abandon the MOM award as there wasn't one apart from that fat sod called Davies who always does one over us. How many times will we allow the same players to haunt us before we decide to do something about it??? BASICS ZOLA. LEARN !!!

  28. RoyClark says:

I noticed that Mido isn't on the list for rating player performance. Does this mean he'll get zero? About right on this performance.

  29. scalyback says:

Trying to take my mind off yesterday; what happened to the results of the Man Utd player rating?

  30. davefking says:

I didn't see Diamantis goal either. I'd left.
