No, I am not alluding to the player’s political views! The question that I wish to pose is whether Junior Stanislas is best deployed on the right side, left side or even through the middle?
Stanislas is a talented young player who has pace, good control & balance and a eye for goal. He is probably second only to Diamanti in terms of proficiency at the dead ball, as demonstrated most recently against Burnley. However, he is not, as yet, the finished product. In particular, he does not always use his gifts to the best effect and needs to have the self-confidence to run at opponents more and, perhaps, polish up on his finishing.
Another area that arguably needs attention is his work rate and ability to track back and provide cover for his full-back/wing back, as appropriate. He has been played quite a lot on the left hand side and makes a good go of it. However, as a natural right-footer he constantly has to correct himself and cut in on his right peg. That is not always a bad thing in itself, but he is arguably at a disadvantage when crossing the ball or getting to the left byline and cutting it back into the area. Arguably, this is an aspect of play that West Ham need to improve on as a team. We need greater width to get behind and turn opposing defences. Faubert showed how to do it against Birmingham City, powering to the byline and pulling the ball back for Cole to score. We need more of that in our attacking play in future.
So, should West Ham deploy Stanislas primarily on the right flank, exploiting the greater utility of his right foot? That would seem to be the sensible option, but it is a valuable trait that he can switch flanks, in order to vary attacking play during the course of a match. However, whichever flank he plays on, he needs to improve on his workrate to tackle back and prove cover to his full-back/wing back partner. Otherwise the full-back/wing-back on his flank could be over-exposed defensively when either the opposition are on the attack or he is pushing forward to support our forward play.
I have advocated deploying Diamanti in the hole behind the two strikers or at the point of a midfield diamond. I still think that we should experiment with Diamanti in that role at some point, although I acknowledge how effective he was against Birmingham City on the left flank. And that he probably needs to stay in that position for the time being. What will be interesting with Diamanti is to see how he copes with man marking and players doubling up on him when he has the ball, once the opposition coaches realise how crucial he is to West Ham’s attacking fluidity. Personally I think he will cope with it well and, it should be remembered that, when a player is given that much attention it does create extra space for his team mates to exploit!
Anyway I digress, the point is it would also be interesting to see Stanislas tried in a free role between midfield and the two strikers. With the tools at his disposal he could excel there, playing, with pace, through the middle, supporting the strikers and getting in to advanced, goal scoring positions. Arguably, he would need to be bolder in such a role, having the confidence to run at the heart of opposition defences, take a pop at goal and convert chances.
Stanislas has been used a lot this season from the substitutes bench. And he has often added width, and improved the quality of our forward play, when introduced. He is a player that Zola needs to show confidence in and mould in to a ‘finished product.’ With the right development not only could Stanislas become an invaluable playing asset in the Hammers squad, but even possibly force his way into England contention for the 2012 European Championships and/or 2014 World Cup.
Indeed, amidst all the shock-horror financial revelations, and the anxiety of a relegation battle, we should keep sight of the ability of our youngsters and the quality of our Academy and youth scouting system. With Stech, Daprela, Tomkins, Eyjolfsson, Spence, Stanislas, Hines, Collison, Sears, Dixon and Nouble, all representing their respective countries at either U-19 or U-21 levels, and firmly in the Hammers first team squad picture, the future looks very bright indeed. Add to that those bubbling under like Kerns, Edgar, Hall, etc, and things look even better! As Ian Drury famously sang, ‘reasons to be cheeful’ ….. rays of optimistic light amidst the seemingly never ending doom and gloom!
Speaking of which, congratulations to Terry Dixon on being selected once again for the Republic of Ireland U-21s. That is a very good sign that things are well fitness wise and he is also starting to show some good form. In fact the Republic U-21 Manager, Don Givens, has said that he has watched Dixon at West Ham and he looks like he is getting back to his best! That can only be good news for a club that had the foresight and courage to take a gamble on his recovery!
And finally, the SSN story ‘Hammers Battle for Starlet’ caught my eye this morning. Apparently, 16 year old hot property, Dominic Vose is currently with our Academy, but is attracting attention from Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelski and clubs from Holland and Portugal! A very promising midfielder, Vose has been called the new Paul Scholes!
The club cannot sign Vose on a professional contract until he is 17 and the danger is that these clubs will try and step in at that point. Hopefully, the youngster will realise that the quality of the football education he will receive at West Ham, and the greater prospect of eventually being given a first team opportunity, means that he should stay with the Hammers. Perhaps he should also talk to Frank Nouble and ask him why he felt compelled to leave a ‘top 4 club’ and join West Ham to develop and progress his career!
SJ. Chandos.

Good post S.J, I personly see stanislav as a right sided midfielder and is used as cover for Behrami, Diamanti i used to think would be best behind the front 2 but i now see him as a left midfielder but very attacking minded. What Stan gives us is pace when Behrami gets tired and he can be used as an effective sub. He offers alot down the right and when he is a subbed on he is at his best because the deffenders are tired and will have to deal with fresh pace, he isn't the strongest player but most wingers arn't for xample Lennon, Wallcott, Young, all not very strong but are quick. I would put Parker at the tip of the diamond as he is very agressive and likes to get behind the fron two. I would then have Kovac as the holding midfielder in front of the back 4. I also would like to congratulate Dixon for getting into Irelands u21's. Shows the boy must have some talent, i don't know much about himj so anyone with information, it would be nice to know about him a bit more and i hope we can keep hold of Vose, he will have a better chance of getting football with us than a top 4 team.
sometimes i wonder, lots of promising young players for sure but i wonder how many will make the grade.im sad for hines cos i think he will be a great player, sears i dont believe will ever be good enough.stanislaus has potential but hes one of those players that may never find his best position.its hard cos i think he could play on either wing or behind a two,i prefer him on a wing cos i believe thats what we lack at the moment.re collinson i think the kid needs a break.his form has dropped but he is playing out of position and also the loss of his father has obviously devastated him.noble in my opinon has gone backwards .he has not improved at all and maybe could be loaned out.daprella ive only seen once but he looked very promising as does nouble who i think will be a great player.all of this is very promising but it is a delicate balance of bringing them to fruition.mind you its nice to have the chance eh
I also held the opinion that Diamanti would be best employed behind a front two, but to enable him to do so will require the return of Boa Morte to cover the left midfield and offer defensive cover – perhaps Daprela could be converted to this position?
Stanislas? Still not sure about him and with a full squad, I think he will struggle to make the bench. He is quite handy as an impact sub, but I think his pace is overrated. He's certainly not in the league of Lennon, Walcott, Agbonlahor, Young etc.
I think it's great that we still produce some excellent youngsters, but we must remain realistic, there aren't too many Rio's, Lampards or Coles coming through year on year.
Many will be good, but not good enough to cut it at the top level.
Agree Devo. Diamanti's best position is behind the front two and for that to happen we will need a front 3 almost.
Our shape is not set up for this.
As for the question on whether Stanislas should be left right or middle, the answer should be at the moment – none of them. He is not good enough just yet to be in the first team and perhaps not even on the subs bench. Another season under his belt and he will improve.
One day he will be a very important player for us but he is far too lightweight, his defense is non-existent and his attacking threat down the left hand side is only slight.
The only position I can see this lad playing is right midfield as he does't have much of a left foot. This was shown against Burnley where he came back onto his right when in wonderful positions on the wing. Also people keep referring to his 'shot' that hit the crossbar in the burnley game. He was clearly crossing the ball. With many of our taller heading players such as Upson, Tomkins, Mido, Cole and Ilan – Stanislas managed to avoid every one of them.
In time he will be a very good player but for me he has been our poorest player this year- along with Noble.
I would have put kovac and spector up there too but they have improved markedly and shown real character over the last couple of months.
Some of our wonderful academy players were ready to be thrown into the pot- think Ferdinand, Lampard, Defoe,Carrick, Noble and Tomkins. But I'm afraid the likes of Nouble, Hines and Stanislas might need an extra season to blossom in the reserves- perhaps play the cup games, and come on as sub from time to time.
However there is no doubt that all of them have real ability but they also have too many weaknesses in which to build on – one more season and they should be ready
I agree Andy. He's got promise but he's not ready yet. In fact he's been rated a tad too high by some on WHTID in my opinion. Time will tell but plenty of guidance in the reserves will do him no harm for the time being.
I really like, and rate, Stanislas. Along with Diamanti, he is one of our only players who will try and skin a defender to get a shot off. No one else does it so it is always refreshing when he comes on. He seems to know what is asked of him being on the wing but I guess he can sometimes make the wrong decisions. He has a great shot on him so I'd hope he's encouraged to try and skin a defender to get a shot off.
Not all our youngsters will make the grade, but I think Stanislas, if handled correctly, can be huge. Look at Sears, the kid couldn't stop scoring for our reserves and U19s, he was nearly a goal a game!
Agree on Diamanti – I'd like to see us get a proper left-sided midfielder in and then move Alessandro to just behind the strikers. The more I see of Diamanti, the more I think he will achieve very good things with us!
Bring on this Saturday, East Stand front row, where the Premier League will learn even more about the wildman Diamanti!
IRONS!
anyone heard the latestwith pompey ? …there trying to get the premeir league to allow them to sell players outside the transfer window . there a disgrace to the premier league feel sorry for the fans but pete storrie can rot there. if they do go out of buisness do any ther teams round the bottom lose there points ? we took 4 points off them this season .
Lee, devastating news again for pompey, they have such a good fan base and it is not fair on all of them for all of this, Pompey are in serious trouble, i couldn't care less about there owners but i actually do care a little for there supporters, the manager and the players. I think Pompey are going to go out of bussiness and if they do we will be docked 4 points and be bottom of the legue. Now wether it will then be 2 teams that are relegated im not sure but would presume so. But i would see it as very unfair to dock us points. It would make things seem that it would have been better to loose to pompey twice because it would make no blooming difference. Your right they are an utter disgrace to the prem and a distraction to all the other clubs. I hope they don't go out of bussiness and i see them being much better off in the championship or even legue 1. As for the players going out, is this allowed, all windows as far as i know are shut. I think they can sell the players but the player won't be able to play until the summer as he cannot be registered when the window is shut. Rediculous.
agree there fans are a good bunch just another case of owners who have no idea of how to run a football club . hopefully they will just go into administation and be docked 10 points ?. . the transfer window rule is fifa/uefa's so they are not going to care less about a premeir league club and the premeir league would not dare challenge them . if we are relegated throught this i see sulivan and gold taking the league to court and suing them . sheff united fans must be loving this (t**ts !)
I feel very sorry for the Portsmouth fans, Lee. I think Braderz would prove to be right about the two teams relegated if it comes to it. You mention Storrie, rightly so, but I am sure there are many of is who wonder just how long ols 'arry can keep up his line about having nothing to do with the buying and selling of players and their contracts. He always seems to come up smelling of roses, that one. I, for one, would love to see him 'found out' and at least in part culpable.
agree- how arry can say he didnt see what the players demands in contracts were are stupid , a player he see's and likes the look of then the player in this case john utaka 80,000 a week plus bonus and image rights . you would of said your not worth that and looked some where else BUT not old arry . i would like to see spuds wage bill since he went there because i know levy alway said he would not pay more than 50 a week and that was robbie keane. arry sipposedly doing wonders at spurs lol. its still jols team.
I think most fans have found Redknapp out a long time ago.
A mark of a good manager is one who improves the club in his time there, and also leaves the club in a better position-both league and financial.
Harry leaves every club in the brown stuff.
Signing Utaka on £80K a week clearly shows that this man does not think for the future and has no regard for a club's longevity. Think of the money he wasted on players with the Ferdinand and Lampard money. Look at the players he brought in.
Marco Boogers, Florin Radiciou, Dumitrescu, Rigobert Song, Foe, Beauchamp,Futre, Foxe, Dailly, Todorov,Soma, Clarles, Suker, Ruddock,Camara, Hutchison, Margas, david unsworth – all signed by harry redknapp.
He wasted tonnes of cash on p*ss poor players. We all know it.
He has a life in football due to his close links with the Media. When they turn on him he will be shown up to everyone for what he is.
In six years he was involved with over 134 transfers to the club – that is just ridiculous. It was only in January that the Daily Mail was hailing him as the 'transfer king' of football. Why???????
Soon they will catch on. The Redknapp love-in from the media will stop and everyone will realize
Quite right. He's made some terrible buys. He's also left many clubs in a very weak financial position through committing them to big contracts and transfer fees.
Got to take issue with you on one point though. Mark-Vivien Foe was awsome andyhammer. I wouldn't have a bad word said about him. He gave it everything on the pitch and, as a midfield enforcer, was one of the best we've seen at Upton Park. My lifelong memory of him will always be Roy Keane getting up and legging it to him for some afters and just bouncing off him as he leaned in to the assault. Fans of every club he played for thought highly of him. A good player and a good man.
Hear hear
If Pompey go out of business we will lose the 4pts gained from them, which is more than any other team at the bottom and would put us in a precarious position.
One has to ask how a club – with such a run down stadium – and according to Arry has made a firtune on every player they have signed, finds themselves in 160 million debt?
Simples….money in, goes straight out in wages and big bonus payments to directors etc.
Football clubs are not run as a good business should be run, it is unbelievable that wages at most clubs account for 90% of turnover and when you have had the likes of Storrie and Harry at the helm…..well enough said.
Oh in his spell at Portsmouth he brought in 44 players
YES 44 PLAYERS!!!
Mind boggling. No wonder poor Portsmouth are going to go into Administration. They have a man on £80K a week, signed by Redknapp, who, in a space of three years, has played only a handful of games…That is £12Million for a player who has played less than 10 games……THIS IS PORTSMOUTH NOT REAL MADRID.
Really Shameful and very sad for Portsmouth as it's a nice club
The FA and Premier League should be stepping in to keep the club afloat, even it it means they take over the running of it for the foreseeable future.
They stood by for years while Pompey slipped further into trouble. There should be a cap on the number of bought in players that any club has on its books at anyone time. Beyond that limit (I would put it at 20 bought in players) they should have to move a player on before bringing in another one.
I also think that signing on bonuses should be scrapped, they are an unecessary burden on clubs.
I also think that all players making over £10k a week should have a 2.5% levy on their salaries to go into a fund to pay the wages of lower league players whos clubs are in difficulty. Its about time the players took responsibility as it is their inflated salaries that are the biggest problem for clubs.
Pompey can not be allowed to bust not because of what it would do to our points total (although that is important) but if a premier league club goes to the wall then it is the fans who will suffer for the greed of grubby little men.
It may be that Portsmouth have another way out for their most expensive players. They can simply breach or cancel the contracts by mutal agreement. This then puts the player out of contract and free to sign for another club. Nobody will offer what the players are worth right now, but the removal of the wage bill might be enough to keep the Revenue off Portsmouth's back while the ownership steady the boat ready for lower division football.
However, it is not a good solution. The best would be for the players to be sold, even at knock down prices, and for Portsmouth to take administration and the 10 point penalty now rather than later. If the FA wants to it can allow Portsmouth to sell. there might be a bit of a row between them and FIFA over it, but I can't see that FIFA will impose any serious sanction on the FA, It's the influence of that weasel Platini that I would worry about before the useless and moronic Blatter. Blatter will not want too much trouble with the FA in a world cup year, especially with England expected to escape their group and become one of the big names of the tournament.
I feel that Stan has put his best shifts in on the left flank but has also looked relatively good in the middle. He scares the living daylights out of opposition full backs with the ball at his feet and also has a knack of getting himself into scoring positions.
Hope that Vose sticks with us. I'm sure he's fully aware of his chances of becoming a Premier League player with West Ham in comparison to the Champions League regulars. I'm also confident that he knows he's getting the best possible tutelage with Tony Carr and his team.
As for Pompey – my heart goes out to their fans. They are a terrifically well supported club with proud, local, working class traditions. I couldn't imagine how I would feel in the same position with the threat of a winding up order being placed on them. The only thing I would add, however, is that they will start again. Like AFC Wimbledon had to do, under slightly different circumstances, I'm sure that AFC Portsmouth, or some similarly named club, would appear, charge up from the lower reaches of non-league and regain their position in the Professional game again. If any Pompey fans are reading this – best of luck to you all and all my hopes that you survive this dark cloud.
Right side.
not as quick as you think thou.
in a foot race he wouldnt beat the likes of anbonglhor but with the ball at his feet there are not many quicker than him. I think the guy has a massive upside, his delivery from dead ball is excellent and once he can deliver the same from open play he will be the width we need to supply the strikers.
He has buckets of self belief and has an eye for goal which we need from midfield.
What a surprise! West ham fans have voted for the return of the hammerettes.
I have to say, I have been to countless games at home, some wonderful, some bl**dy awful, but I have never failed to be 'inspired' by these girls.
However, never liked bumping into all those erections on the way back to Upton Park tube after the game
Good to see G and S thinking of taking legal action against solicitors who advised club during Tevez affair. I actually thought it was the accountants who refused to sign off accounts unless compensation paid to the blunts but, either way, it seems we are now a club which will stand up and fight its corner
Does anyone even bother to read The Games Gone Crazy blog anymore?
After reading a run of made up stories i gave up.
eric, the bloke admitted to being a spud last week,so ignor the muppet.ive complained and so has this site but nothing can stop the idiot.
is it just me or do the 2 d's want us to pay for everything ? were being asked to sponsor the halftime entertainment now !!!!
Upson's rallying call on the official site:
'we needed the Birmingham win massively and another win would put us in a great position'
er, no, Matthew – another win is vital and will potentially lift us to the dizzy heights of 13th depending upon other results, but with the propect of facing Manu, Chelsea and Arsenal away in the next few weeks. Great, no. Better, undeniably.
at least he has stopped talking about Matthew Upson, got to be a positive!!!!!
fair point pop
So the centre half is promoted to the club spin doctor.
As he is not the finished article, it would be difficult to say where his best position is. He is a talent for sure but there are some underlying bad habits that he carries which must be coached out. His biggest asset in my opinion his his own self belief and confidence at this stage. He is the best of the current crop, marginally more advanced as Hines and streets ahead of Sears who in my opinion is never going to get out of the lower leagues. As for Portsmouth, I cant see any reason why they shouldnt be allowed to sell to stay afloat. The best they can hope for is administration, and once in that place they can operate outside of the transfer window outwards under EUFA rules. I feel sorry for the fans that pay to follow the club week in week out and truely love the club, sold down the river by owners who dont give a flying f**k about the tradition and history.
I like the sentiments behind this, but I will certainly voice my preference to Zavon Hines. That kid is incredibly dangerous and skillful – Stanislas is vastly inferior to him.
Funny after going through over half a season of trying to play ‘football’ Scott Parker comes out and says we need to win ugly,Zola 40 points is the goal every season and different tactics for different teams actually works, has the penny dropped?
Hi All,
been a while since I’ve posted (still trying to get over the 16 hour day to burnley) but have been reading the threads.
Having seen that the hammerettes will be making a comeback after a 95% vote in favour I am a little worried that west ham are becoming a bit of a side show. Hammerettes will come back but the David’s are looking for some one to sponsor them. Maybe some one will place there name on their wears. All this talk of sueing the world and their son. If we go down will they sue the current team?
Rant over.

Hi Iain. Not sure how interested you'd be in this but I've recently started a new blog aimed at using statistics to predict likely results. It's a little bare at the moment (ianssportsblog.wordpress.com), but for this week I give West Ham a 61% chance of beating Hull. Hopefully that gives you a reason to be extra-optimistic going into this weekend
61%!!!,,,, Hull will be CRUSHED!
Yes i agree that 61% is not realistic. that is the problem with statistics. They don't factor in other important points.
The fact that we have not been playing with a strike force for most of the season would suggest that perhaps 61% is a fair reflections – but now since teh takeover and the influx of new strikers – I can't see that as a realistic stat.
I would say we have a 95% Chance of getting a win or a draw from this game. I would say we should win this game 8 times out of 10.
80% would seem a fair indicator. Also Hull have won once in 11 games, and haven't won away all season.
On their travels they have lost
Sunderland 4-1
Liverpool 6-1
Fulham 2-0
Burnley 2-0
Aston Villa 3-0
Arsenal 3-0
Man Utd 4-0
They have only scored more than 1 goal once away from home and that was against a terrible Bolton performance.
In fact how many goals have they scored away from home all season.
Just 9 goals. 9 GOALS IN 14 GAMES. That is relegation form. If we don't win this game we deserve to go down
61% my a*se
so thats 61% of ure *rse thinks we'll win, what does the other 39% think… or is that the part that doesn't think, it just regurgitates…
I think you'll find that is 80% of my *rse thinks we will win. People have said for some time that I speak out of my posterior – and this proves it!!!!
I just don't think we can quantify or puts stats on winning and losing – I will say this though – we really should win against a very poor Hull side
Glad to get a little debate going. The point of the post wasn't to get everyone agreeing with me
Just for a full picture though, Hull have drawn 4 (31%) and lost 9 (69%) of their 13 league away games this season, including draws at Man City and Spurs .
hahaha, brilliant. and true. if we don't win on saturday we just do deserve to go down! i really hope we put in the effort from the first minute to the last and don't start the game like we started against Burnley!
IRONS!
What are the stats at Old Trafford tuesday 99% we will be crushed,I say we win!
GOLD TO LEND TEN MILL TO POMPEY ??? WTF. i have to think why on earth didnt they invest ten mill into us and get us prper safe ha you could not make it up ..but saying that i can see his point pompey go to the wall where in the brown stuff .
I heard something today, and i cannot prove it, but, apparently, Dux treated WHU like his own club, apparently he wanted a free i phone, and as O2 were the only providers, they had whu over a barrel….. hence all the phones whu were paying for. And apparently he hired an aston martin, again with the club picking up the bill. I was a bit annoyed hearing this, as i thought Dux had allways looked out for whu, but i guess, im not the good judge of character i thought i was.
Junior's position is a tough one, as I believe he thought he had made it near the end of last season and became v lasy! With the players now in our squad I just don't see Junior starting in any position. As for his dead ball ability I think andyhammer said that the "shot" against Burnley was a bad cross that luckly hit the bar. IMO Junior needs to decide what type of player he is going to be and not cover loads of different positions. Ask to be a right winger and look at people like Lennon and Young and work hard . . something I have yet to see him capable of doing – go on then Junior prove me wrong!!
Offline for the next few days, so apologies for going off topic (incidentally, as a wise man once said, right footers on the right, left footers on the left, it aint rocket science).
3 points tmrw, we'll win 3-1, with Cole getting the first, Diamanti scoring from the spot and Mido getting his first for us… but not sure what order they'll be in !!
4-4-2 all the way, Specs playing left full and Mido starting up front.
COYIIIIIIIIIIII's……..
good man cahilcc – that was my exact prediction for the game too.\\\\come on you irons!
i might drive over to pompey and lend them twenty quid – we're in trouble if they go bust. but, i think we can still get enough points to not worry about it come the end of the season.
I agree pal. We will win by a couple of clear goals at least. I have us down for a 3-0 win
3-1 for me…I'm not yet brave enough to predict a clean sheet although would be nice but I'll be more than happy with 1-0 to be honest! Want exiting stuff but results matter more right now
Team for Hull should be interesting with Illunga out and Franco and Dyer (ha ha ha) back. Badly badly badly need to win this game considering our next 2 away games! Same as Birmingham please . . .
Green, Faubert, Spector, Upson, Tompkins, Behrami, Kovac, Parker, Diamanti, Cole, Mido.
Subs: Stech, Da Costa, Dyer, Noble, Collison, Franco, Ilan.
I heard Franco is not going to be in the squad as he is struggling still. Dyer- It is like seeing Lord Lucan – I will believe it when I see it.
The good think I suppose with the introduction of the new strikers is it gives enough time for him to recover. Meaning we won't rush him back as quickly as before. Hopefully he will be ready by the time he is picking up his pension.
I share the optimism above in respect of tomorrow's game. I see that they are missing Geovanni which I for one am pleased about. Bullard is another who worries me. Looks as though he will be on the bench but he has a nasty habit of coming back to bite us on the rear.
That said, I fancy a 2 goal winning margin. 2-0 or 3-1 perhaps.
Agree with you there headmaster, I rate Bulard and am really hoping he decides hes not up to it tomorrow, he's always bad news for us.
I'm a;; ready for my first game of the season, got tickets for Manu too, but sitting with the wrong people, my best mate is a season ticket holder. Looking forward to a good game tomorrow and praying for miracles Tuesday so I can rag him, then fly back at the weekend
I had a ticket in a corporate box until the buggers made the carling final. No way I can get up there and back on a Tuesday night. Bummer.
mido , bench please !
Totally off subject but can either Ian or SJ do a real look at the injuries the club has had over the past few seasons and the impact that has made. With the news that McCarthy out for 3 weeks with knee and Illunga out for another month I am extremely frustrated . . .off the top of my head
- Ashton = 3 seasons where he played 10 games max (Cost in wages: £10.92m)
- Dyer = 3 seasons where he played 7 games max (Cost in wages: £10.92m)
- Gabbidon = 4 seasons where he played 25 games max (Cost in wages: £5.5m)
- Parker = First season missed 70% (Cost in wages: £2.52m)
- Davenport = 2 seasons didnt play (Cost in wages: £2.6m)
- Quashie = 3 seasons didnt play (Cost in wages: £3.9m)
- Cole = 2 seasons didnt play 30% (Cost in wages: £1.5m)
- Behrami = 2 seasons didnt play 40% (Cost in wages: £1.25m)
The list goes on . . .just from those rough figures alone its = £39.11m!!!!!
How can the fitness people at the club not be fired and sued!!!!!!!!!
Rant over
bray- ive been saying this for a while now its crazy the injuries we have had over the past two or three seasons and to be honest i really think it has somthing to do with our medical staff at the club. i was listning to talk sport a while back and stuart robbins was on talkiing about how somtimes the medical staff dont cumunicate with the training and fitness staff properly so when they send a player back into full training they have a note saying what they should be doing in training to get MATCH FIT. in his case he refused to train after an accruring injurie he was suspended and went to see a private doctor and fitness trainer who after seeing got back into the swing of things ie full seasons..
left the man himself of your list Bellamy!!!!! see he's up to his old tricks out for 3 months, hope that means he won't be coming to us in May
Where do you guys stand on the Tiger Woods public apology? Perhaps JT should follow suit – lol!
Personally I found the whole thing cringe-making and no doubt motivated by his corporate image rights. Much tho I loathe Terry, I would not wish to see him come out in a similar way – not that I think for a second that he would!
I have it on very good authority HM that JT is a thoroughly despicable human being. Without giving names away, one of my best mates at work grew up with him, and all I can say is it is no surprise that he is hitting the headlines for all the wrong reasons. No-one has ever said no to him, so that's what the twat expects every time. I for one am delighted that hopefully he has wrecked his chance of following in Bobby Moore's footsteps in our biggest chance for a long time of lifting the World Cup. It would not be the same for me in comparison with BM.Do me a favour mate! Asfor Tiger, he could apologise for evermore, but he lives in planet Tiger. His rules are not the same as ours. When everyone around you blows smoke up your ass, reality doesn't exist. All he needs to do now is be more discreet. Will he change? I doubt it. Morals don't really count when you have that many zero's following your earnings. The only plus is he now isn't Captain America anymore…they'll have to have a good hunt round for the next clean cut American hero, as Tiger can't fall into that category anymore. I wish I could tee off like him though!!
I have wondered for many years the number of injuries that appear at West Ham is astounding. Whilst I accept the likes of Ashton is tragic and cannot be prevented, (especially when you are forced to train with muppets like Wright-Phillips). What bugs me is the number of injuries that have happened over the years either while training or in warm up before games. FFS learn from this. It was reported we were investing in all sorts of fitness experts to sort this out. Where are they then???? I sympathize with players who are suffering, (as a player who recently have discovered his calves have stopped stretching and just seize up now), but I'm not on 20, 30, 40, 50+++++ a week. If that sort of finance is guaranteed, would you be that bothered to get your aris off the treatment table and actually make an APPEARANCE ??? Having said all of that, I think our current captain regularly demonstrates that they do not live in the same world as us. His recent press offering appears to back up his one man band mission to get to the World Cup. If anyone doesn't give a toss about West Ham, it is Upson, in my opinion. How sad is that! He's a good CB but I can't share the high opinion he holds for himself. Prove it on the pitch for the rest of the season Matt, and we'll let you go on your merry way with a few quid for us to invest in someone who really wants to play for us, like Tomkins next to you!
2day is the day west ham beat Hull and jump up the table (fingers crossed)
i thinh stan is best on the left wing but needs to work on his final ball and work rate.
it would be stupid to play him in the middle where we have loads of competition already and now real wide men bar Diamanti.
