Faubert Thanks the Fans

Julien Faubert has been quick to pay tribute to the fans who have contacted him praising his courage for playing on Saturday, only two days after the death of his mother.

“I am so pleased to have received these messages from our supporters. I can’t tell you what it means to me. It is so nice. It just shows that the fans don’t only get behind the players when we are playing on the pitch. Also when we have difficulties in our own lives, they make an effort to send in a message. This has helped me a lot, especially at this time. This is why I love England and West Ham so much. It is not just the team but everyone else behind the players, it is very special. I definitely wanted to play. There was no question for me. This is what I wanted to do for my mum and for West Ham. She would have been saying, ‘whatever happens, I want you to play’. She would say ‘you have to go on, go forward with your life and with your football – you have a job to do and a son of your own to look after’. I am a professional footballer with a duty to West Ham. It was hard but I didn’t want to let West Ham down either.”

I’m sure I speak for everyone who read this blog when I say that Julien Faubert’s performance on Saturday was an inspiration. His mother would have been very proud of him.

Faubert described his mother as a driving force for him as he grew up and followed his dreams of becoming a footballer.

“My mother was an inspiration. She was the one there for me when I was growing up, I lived with her all the time and she supported me in every way, whether it was buying me boots or driving me to training or games.

“I was born in a poor area of Le Havre, so it was difficult and she made a lot of sacrifices for me. I know she is happy and proud of me and I have good memories.

“It’s a difficult time for me and my family, but I have my wife and son helping me through this as well as the fans and everyone here at West Ham. This will help me to go forward.”

Sorry for 2 different posts but couldn't fit it all in one as it wouldn't let me. Sorry about that.

  2. Faubert is a legend for the commitment he showed the club last weekend. No compassionate leave request (JT Scumbag) take note. I think this is the mark of the man who has not exactley been given the fairest ride, bearing in mind he signed as a winger and serious injury prevented him ever playing in his own position. puts things in to perspective really. Heartfelt sympathy and respect to the man. On a lighter note CH please stop abnging on about the new owners, we understand your feelings on the subject, getting tedious now

I've read all the above posts, and l must admit that l didn't want the two D's to take the club over, l agree with a lot of what Celtic has said, but as is stands at this moment, we didn't have to sell any of our best players, and that's a good thing, and l wasn't over the moon about the players that they have bought in! l was so down about the way everything was going, that l didn't want to go to the game on Saturday, but l went, and it was one of the worse matches that we've played for a long while!!
If the three players help to take us play better than we did on Saturday, that's good enough for me, so lets see what transpires in the summer.

I didn't want the two D's to take us over, either, but having done so, their openness has been refreshing and I remain open minded.

When they were appointed Celtic said he has "lost" his club. If that is so, why bother posting the same old tired mantra on here and more to the point, why hijack a thread dedicated to Julien Faubert's loss to reiterate a point he has made on just about every other thread?

  5. Firstly, my condolences and a big well done to M. Faubert.

Secondly, reading Celtics posts is like listening to my Ex-wife.
She will never be happy. For crying out loud, give the guys a chance.

Well a least a month Celts!

If we cannot attract top quality players, it is not their fault. Our situation and reputation is not currently high enough.

Is their fault, that RVN snubbed us? £100k is enough, I would say, but he choose Bundesliga.

It is only a good sign, that they didn't buy any "Decent but expensive" mercenaries. In my opinion, spending £8M is stupid when you cannot get what you want (Obviously West Ham cannot attract players like Rudi, so buying would've been unnecessary): Loans and out-of-contracts are currently best we can get this day. Okay, they could've spent the money on striker, but £8M is not big money in January window, when the prices are far more higher than in Summer window. Maybe we can get someone better, someone who really is top quality, if we remain patient and wait for summer.

And Keane-saga? He really is not worth £100k/w, his quality is not worth the money. The £100k was for Rudi, who is a better player. A lot better, to be exact. It was a wise move not to spent the money just coz they said they will, because the primary target choose not to grab the hook. To make myself clear:

Primary Target: £100k for RVN: unsuccesful

Then secondary target: £100k for Keane vs £1k for Mido

So, an easy one, I quess.

Handon read my post again, I am not saying that we should have signed Keane, what I am saying is that Sullivan said we could not afford to pay £105k a week for a player only a week after he promised to pay £100k a week for a player so he was obviously lying the first time.
Just like he has dozens of times since he took over

  7. AussieGraham says:

Ruud Van Nistelroy needs a few weeks to get fit as he is only 60% ready, wow half a mill gone by then.
Raul is unhappy at warming the bench at Real Madrid,he would be a great free transfer Mr.Sullivan.

  8. AussieGraham says:

Celtic is perfectly entitled to his opinion and it certainly provokes the flock of sheep on here who dont like constructive criticism.Sullivan did say 8 million to be spent on players in the transfer window,I suggested Moses and Begovic or Beckford truth is they never spent the 8 mill on players or did they?If everyone on here respects the for and against improving our team which this site debates the easier it will be to make us as good as Barcelona in 4 years ,hey Mr.Sullivan!

  9. celtichammer says:

We actually would have been paying £1m for a loan fee and £55k a week in wages but if Sullivan said that he might be asked the question why he didnt use some of the transfer budget he promised to pay the loan fee? But no, it sounds much better if you divide the loan fee by the remaining weeks of the season and add it to the wages oh and then hint that there was a loan fee on top of this!
