It has been reported that Parma are interested in taking Jimenez from Inter-Milan. Obviously any deal between the Serie A clubs, in the January transfer window, is obstructed by his current loan deal with the Hammers. It raises the question whether the club might consider releasing Jimenez to facilitate him joining Parma?
Jimenez has been largely ineffective this season, but has shown some flashes of quality. By far his best performance was in the Boxing Day victory over Portsmouth, where he made a major contribution. However, the player has failed to consistently reproduce that form and has been unable to tie down a regular first team slot.
However, is this the right time to let him go? Or do we need to retain him until the summer to provide vital creative midfield cover? One option could be to release Jimenez and replace him with Jack Wilshire on loan from the Gooners. The question here is whether we can afford to replace an experienced player with another youngster? Or does Wilshire’s rich promise negate any doubts on that score?
Wilshire is allegedly a Hammers fan and would probably jump at the prospect of a loan at Upton Park, especially if the alternative is Bolton Wanderers! But should we consider it in our current circumstances? Also, does it send out the wrong message to our own promising youngsters like Edgar and Kerns who will find themselves being pushed back down the midfielder pecking order by a gooners youth product?

The Eidurdown rumours have gone on for so so many seasons now that most of us just yawn. I had mixed feelings last night when it semed like we were going to sign him and then the whole tacky arry stuff just made it clear that he would be a bad signing. It seems that we met him from his flight and brought him to UP for discussions and a medical (and may well have paid travel expenses). He then says goodbye and goes off to deepest darkest north london to compare offers?
He has been off-loaded by Monaco with such expediency that it makes you wonder if his old demons came to haunt him (there isn't much else to do in Monte Carlo apart from gambling). I think that it might be a problem avoided if he signs for the spuds. Hey it also gives us somebody who beats the vertically challenged Defoe in the booing stakes.
We wanted RVN – ‘arry thought that he’d jump in and poach him, only for horseface to bottle it and sod off to Germany.
We wanted Gudgodson – ‘arry thought that he’d jump in and poach him.
Any chance we can try and buy Quashie back?
Getting back on point, Nouble has the potential to be a great player, has has pace, ability, and i would say finishing! What he is is very young, what he has done infront of goal for the last 3 games is put his laces through the ball, which is fine in Under age football, due to the quality of the keepers!
Pompy's GK is young too, but starting to prove himself as another decent young prospect who has also had a first team place put upon him for very different, thankfully!!!
Basically Nouble is for the future, nobody who had any part in signing a young qualtiy striker from a prem rival in the summer expected him to be our spearhead for premiership survival! We need a striker or two, imagine what it would be like to have to face Cole PLUS 1 for 70-75 minutes AND then have Nouble turn to take you on for the last 15 odd minutes? Now there is where the boy can make his name!!!
