What a shame this game isn’t on TV. Portsmouth are in the doldrums and it is rumoured that they have so few players available for selection that they will only be able to name three substitutes. I’ll believe that when I see it. I think we all hope that we will see a repeat of last year’s thumping 4-1 victory at Fratton Park, but I suspect most of us would settle for a dull 1-0 win.
The good news is that Carlton Cole may well be back. If Zola goes by past form he may well be on the bench and only be used if needed in the second half. Otherwise, it is likely that Zola will field the same team that did so well to grab a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa. The only possible change I can foresee is for Diamanti to come into the equation somehow, maybe to give Nouble a bit of support up front. It’s as yet unclear whether Scott Parker will be fit to start.

It wasn't pretty and we lacked quality in what to me was a real scrappy game, but I would have taken a point before the game, so overall not too disappointed.

Simply didnt put the game away, even when we dominated we rarely threatened. The disgraceful referring gives us a handy excuse but we should have been out of site before that happened.
The thing is that the majority of the players did ok individually but as a team performance it was lacking. Just goes to show how much we miss Parkers leadership. Lets hope he is fit for Blackburn!

We were in complete control of the game until Portsmouth scored. Tomkins got his nose busted right in front of the referee and he waved play on?! i'm actually speechless. When are the FA going to do something about this?
Thought up to the goal every one played extremely well….committing to every ball. Great to see Cole back but at the moment its hard to draw any positives.
Boateng and Basinas should have been off for the fouls they committed.

Thought we were th better team for most of the game and should have had it wrapped up before they scored. Positives is that was a point away from home and Noubler looks like he could be even better than Cole once he gets a bit more experience at this level – great prospect though.
Anyway – it's midnight in Northern Cyprus. So i'll be hitting the sack (semi)happy with a point. Lets hope we get all 3 at the weekend.

Finally found a live stream then Pompey score. what I see of game looked pretty average. I think we all get a bit carried away with the good news we have had over the last week that we though we could steamroller Portsmouth.
Silver lining is Bolton dragging Burnley into it so another team primed for us when we meet them next weekend. Roll on Blackburn and hopefully 3 points.
My first reaction was one of disappointment . . we really needed to win that one, we havent won in ages!! But still outside bottom 3 and with Burnley on free fall and Pompey just not good enough (what does that say about us) but I think that hopefully Parker is back Saturday along with Cole and maybe even Benni and Gudjohnson so actually a point is better than nothing. However it makes Saturday vital and then away to Burnley – 6 points is a must!! Lets make Upton Park bouncing!!!
Well i hate to use excuses but Marriner is an absolute joke to the game, how many times were our lot being pushed in the back and he didn't give anything, Now the F.A. laws state that if a player has a head injury play must stop immediately, yeah good one their marriner, blatent elbow to the face right in front of him and hes gone down holding his head and it is a clear foul but no, play on and they score, get him out of the game because he is useless. Other than that to be honest we should have taken our chances their keeper made some good saves but young nouble has some glorious chances and i couldn't hel pbut think if it was cole he would have smashed it in but he is young and has everything a prem player needs, just work on his finish and he will be class, i would have taken a point from the start but after that i am actually dissapointed, get two new strikers in as tonight clearly showed we needed it, Behrami was a different class tonight and had a cracking game for us, worked his socks off, next up Blackburn at home, nothing less than 3 points will be satisfying.

Benni hopefully will complete his move along with possibly eidur by the looks of things unless that is another boring rumour we have heard about him 3 years running, Anyway Benni in along with another striker and we will be fine, Kaboul would be a great signing and i think with G&S their tonight i hope they took note of him, For me we need these two striker desperately to help out, with franco returning soon aswel and cole now back and didn't he look sharp when he was on the ball, We will be solid up front, Now we must improve our back line aswel, So this is who we should realistically look at signing:

Assuming we have signed Benni we have a problem. All the South African's I know call him the porker. How do we get him into the ground avoiding the kebab, fish and chip, fry up, indian etc outlets that surround us. Don't even mention the burger/hot dog places and the balti pies available in the ground. Thank the Lord that the pie and mash out let in the DMU has gone.

Having watched that game last night one thing is evident…we couldnt hit water if we fell out of a boat. GZ should have been more aggresive after going 1 up, Pompey were all over the show and there for the taking but still we carried on with 1 up front, i understnad about not starting with CC and althought it was negative to start 451 against the bottom side i could see he's logic but not as the game went on. I worry tthat GZ doesn't know properley how to change a game. McCarthy looks overweight and off the pace and money bags Eidur has had he's head turned by Slurs, he wont sign for us and to be honest, i aint bothered.
we need a goal scorer…and quick.
