  2. Graybo says:

    Heh-heh, thanks for that, DevoDevo.

Also, just to say I had a great present from my Niece this Christmas. She gave me a Bobby Moore passport holder and luggage label … with donations from her purchase going to the Bobby Moore Cancer research fund. Very stylish leather with restrained artwork on the inside … quite in keeping with the man himself.

Probably won't be posting much, so Happy New Year to all once it rolls around.

HaHa brilliant Devo, not only does it show his skillful side but it lets us know when he stopped growing coz he is still about the same height!

The latest love letter from Kumb to the Gollivans can be viewed here
    http://www.kumb.com/article.php?id=2735
I posted a response which you can read below although I doubt it will be reprinted in its full form as they have a habit of rewriting and editing posts and then ignoring the questions that are raised by anyone who disagrees with their view. Still have a read of what it should read if you like.
Gary I have to congratulate you, in an era where there is a positively Hurculean effort on the part of the red tops to smear the club and its owners, your piece stands out as one of the worst piece of hack writing I have ever seen.
Lets set the record straight on a few things shall we?
Straumur were barred from investing money in any business (this includes WestHam) by the Icelandic courts as part of their rationalisation process. Key to this process is to preserve and increase the value of the assets it currently holds.
WestHam is the most high profile and visible asset that they own so running it into the ground or "milking it for cash" as you so badly put it can hardly be seen to be keeping with this promise to its shareholders.
Once Straumur was permitted to put money into the club it immediately paid £5M off the clubs loans as part of a renegotiation of the clubs loans, there was no actual need to do this, the club was more than capable of servicing its loans but by renegotiating them the owners were able to take advantage of the current low interest rates which reduces the payments that need to be made and increases the amount of the cash available to the club.
The owners have also pressed ahead with the development of a world class training facility, hardly the work of some evil Icemen hell bent on the "asset stripping" the club.
The slobbering love affair that this site is engaged in with the Gollivan group is not only sickening to behold but for self professed Hammers fans to ignore the perils of those smut peddlers gaining control of the club is disgraceful.
Perhaps its the lure of an £8M transfer "warchest" for Zola that has you all excited, lets not all ring Lionel Messi's agent at the same time in case we tie up the line.
Or maybe you are hoping for a job as a "journalist" at one of their many top class publications.
Are CB/Straumr the ideal owners for the club? No they are not, but then again they dont have the same abismal record of running a club that they got for a quid that the Gollivans do. Its almost impossible to find a Brum fan who wasnt dancing with delight to see the back of them and yet you are happy to hand them the keys to the club despite their disgraceful behaviour in their smear campaign to try and get the club at a knock down price.
If you are all such big mates with the Davids maybe you could get them to come on this site and answer some questions from well informed, non blinkered fans about how exactly they intend to run the club?

    • DevoDevo says:

Birmingham seem to be doing so much better without them.

    • brooking says:

Your love affair with these banks and the cretin of a former owner BG holds no bounds. Has CB Holding not cut every cost on the balance sheet? Are we not in credit with the transfer policy since they reluctantly took control? Has the wage bill not been slashed? In a time when there has been record TV revenue. it is a tad too strong you endessly trying to say how great they are and how great the creatin BG was. Gold and Sullivan although not my ideal new owners but are far better then Straumur. CB Holdings.

      • johnnycash says:

        Couldn't agree more,

      • celtichammer says:

Brooking if you read the post it says that I dont think CB / Straumur are the ideal owners but they are a damn site better than letting Gollivan take over

      • LoftyPerch says:

Brooking..you devalue your argument by describing BG as a cretin.
A little research will show you that he is far from being that.
The facts remain, no single person has ever invested more into West Ham or given the incumbent manager more to spend on players.
I do not lay the blame for Iceland's financial crash as BG's door.
        Sometimes, shite happens.

        • celtichammer says:

Lofty you might want to be careful mate or you will attract the attention of the thumbs down man, who rather than spend Boxing day relaxing with family or having drinks with friends, was busy logging on and off and clicking thumbs down for me and anyone who agreed with me.

          • Horters says:

Celts…I think I can live with the pressure.
Sorry you have had to endure the filth currently being posted by Gollyman.
I blame Blair…he promised Education, education, education. Obviously came up short on that one.

          • LoftyPerch says:

Celts…I think I can live with the pressure.
Sorry you have had to endure the filth currently being posted by Gollyman. Obviously one of KUMB's more creative posters.
I blame Blair…he promised Education, education, education. Obviously came up short on that one.

          • Headmaster says:

            steady on Lofters!

        • brooking says:

I call BG a cretin because all the money invested in the team, the money paid to buy the club was credited to the clubs debt. Whether you blame him or not for the icelandic and the world wide financial crash,(which in hindsight was fairly obvious that he was well over stretched) West Ham had next to no debt when Terry Brown sold the club, How much do people reckon it is now?

          • LoftyPerch says:

It's the way of the world, I'm afraid Brooking. I know it sucks, but loading debts on the club is what every club appears to be doing…probably even Chelsea.
Still doesn;t make BG a cretin though, although I won't labour the point as it's Christmas. COYI

    • johnnycash says:

Football is all about opinions, you know what they say about opinions Celtic, they are like arsholes, everyone has one!
Its getting very boring your drumbeat on how good these banks are for West Ham. Lets face facts, there dragging the club down. All the time they reluctantly own the club, West Ham can not move forward. True the dont want us relegated, but thats only due to they lose out on any profit making when they decided to sell. Not for any other reason like anyone who has any sort of other care for the club.

    • LoftyPerch says:

Gollyman…Congratulations. You have just shaved the Pillock of the Year award with only five days left for voting.
      What kept you?

    • Shropshire says:

Absolutely pathetic! If you haven't got anything constructive to say, then why bother in the first place.

    • Headmaster says:

Can't see any of your comments underneath Mr Portugal's article, Celtic!

  5. DevoDevo says:

Jack Wilshire would welcome loan move to West Ham!

Surely, even we can't mess this one up?

  6. DevoDevo says:

    Memo to Iain:

    Chelsea performances haven't been published.

  7. Saulie says:

Really? That's all you guys gave Ilunga? He had a magnificent game yesterday, cut out the danger every single time.

  8. Headmaster says:

Cripes – that was quick! I didn't even get to vote. Having said that, I agree pretty much with the results. Delighted to see Diamanti and Kovac so high up in the ratings – very well deserved indeed and not just for the fact they they scored. I have been kind of championing Kovac for a few weeks now and certainly yesterday was by far his best performance for us. Similarly, Diamanti was stand out in terms of creativity once again. Actually I blew a gasket when Zola subbed him at 1-0 with 20 minutes to go! Having said that, at least he is a little fresher for the spuds tomorrow. In that regard, I thought that Franco looked absolutely shot to pieces for the last 10 minutes and hope that he has good powres of recovery if he is, as seems nailed on, to plough a lone furrow up front at the Lane.

    • johnnycash says:

I agree with you Headmaster, I know, I never did when I was at School!
Unlike a certain Irishman, who got bored of trashing Cole and started on Kovac, he is turning out to be a decent player who merits his place.
Diamanti is starting to look the part but needs to toughen up a tad more.
Franco has been a revelation since Cole's injury. Consistantly good and some great touches.

  9. would be more than happy to take a point from the spudlies, were only 3 points of mid table so anything from the top 6 would be good news.yuk, did i just say that….spuds top 6 ….wash my mouth out

  10. LoftyPerch says:

I see that the Gold and Sullivan PR machine has been active over the Xmas period. The usual mystery spokesman telling the News of the World that those two shining knights are growing a little impatient at West Ham's refusal to accept their lightweight offer.
They now have the front to put a deadline on us to accept their offer.
IMO, Gold and Sullivan are trying to nick us on the cheap. That business plan roughly sums up their tenure at Birmingham.
Everything was done on the on the cheap.
    Short cuts at every opportunity.
    Managers starved of real investment.
A mediocre club run by mediocre people.
The idea that we have to run into their arms because they appear to be the only suitors in town is ludicrous.
We do not have to panic.
I am convinced we can do better than this pair.
It would be hard not to.

  11. Shropshire says:

I didn't think I would ever see Kovac in the top three on here, so a big well done to him for his improved performances in recent weeks. Like 'Headmaster' I have been championing his cause in recent weeks, ever since his performance in the Burnley game, so let's hope he has turned a corner and continues to show why GZ invested 3 million in him.

  12. Basildon_Bob says:

Like all players, Kovac and Jimi need game time. It is a well accepted fact that the PL is a very fast footballing league, players do not get the time on the ball to have a glance about to see where to ping the ball next. Kovac and Jimi were suffering from a lack of time on the pitch to get used to he pace. However, with injuries they a now getting ther chance. I do not suggest that they are by any means the answers to our problems, but at least their progress brings slight comfort.

  13. Basildon_Bob says:

With Man Utd beating Hull, thats one of their games in hand down without a point on the board. Looking at the table, below us, Hull have one game in hand, Bolton two. Above us, and our next targets to overtake, Wigan have a game in hand, Wolves have played the same. A 4-5-1 system seems to suit our playing style. Its a fairly adaptable system to use on the counter attack, which against Spurs we are going to need.

  14. chrischris says:

Intresting to see the team tomorrow,Lennon is a real danger wonder if Diamanti will start,Ilunga has lost form lately he won't be able to keep Lennon on his own maybe Collison should play left mid.

    • Basildon_Bob says:

If Behrami is fit, what about sticking him on Lennon? I remember last year when Man Utd played at UP, Behrami stuck to Ronaldo like s**t to a blanket. Ronaldo barely got a kick all game. That way gives Collison the chance to do what he does best?

      • DevoDevo says:

        I'd go 3-5-2

        Green
        Behrami Tomkins Upson
        Faubert Collison Parker Kovac Ilunga
        Diamanti Franco

This way we can double up on Lennon. I think Faubert might be a better option in RM as his delievery recently has been top class.

        • _E1 says:

I'm all for 3-5-2 and have been banging on for a while about it as I know you have. I would use different personel to you in some areas though. I would only use Behrami at the back ina 4-5-1 or a 4-4-2.
          My 3-5-2 would be
          Green
          Tomkins De Costa Upson
          Faubert Behrami Parker Collison Ilunga
          Diamanti Franco

  15. iaindale says:

All Gollman's comments have been deleted and he is now banned from the site. If you see him posting again please report the comments. Sad idiot.

  16. _E1 says:

IF Behrami is fit I would rather see him at RB and give Fabs a run at wide right. Illunga will need help thats for sure.If we are going to get anything from the game we have got to keep their wide players busy and keep the ball more central and go at them through the middle.
Still think we can nick it 0 – 1
    COYI !!!!!!!!!

  17. gollyman says:

this site is racist to gollies

  18. gollyman says:

armchair supporters in ireland dictate this sites racist policy to golliwogs it seems.

  19. chrischris says:

Yes i think we can nick it but spurs are a real handful going forward,Lennon needs to be kept quiet,Defoe was rested so guess he will be busting a gut,If all goes to plan our 5 in mid can shut him out, also they have crouch if they need to go over the top,who at 6.7 is sometimes unplayable, can't wait I'm going!!

  20. Basildon_Bob says:

    O/S has an interesting article on a west ham team of the decade. Link as follows;

    http://www.whufc.com/articles/team-of-the-decade-…

  21. Headmaster says:

This thumbs up thumbs down thing is just getting stupid now. Any danger we can just remove it, Iain? It is seriously distracting from the value of the debate so that someone appears to be clicking innocuous comments like 'quiet sorry' and giving it the thumds up, whilst other commenters are thumbs downed for 'Chelsea performances haven't been published'.
IMO we were better off ithout it when people hd to use reasoning to counter a view rather than a daft thumb icon! Just a thought…

    • LoftyPerch says:

Headers…no-one takes any notice of them, so leave be.
It gives the silly boys something to play with, anyway.

      • Headmaster says:

It may well be that it is a necessary evil of the site under the new format, Lofty. It just doesn't seem right that anyone can click away on the things with such clear scant regard fro what is actually being said. I take your point but, for me, I'd be pleased to see the back of em

  22. Basildon_Bob says:

It usually works well when the WUM's are not about.

  23. LoftyPerch says:

    Sorry, Bob…..WUM??????????????????????

  24. Tariq83 says:

Some very good comments today…nice to see everyone more positive. Has anyone else noticed that since we have moved out of the relegation zone the papers havent been full of articles suggesting al our players are leaving?

I agree with Bob, would like to see Behrami mark Lennon out of the game. Its going to be a very tough game but we have looked so much better defencively since we have played 5 in midfield. Perhaps Zola should have started playing 5 in midfield as soon as we started conceeding 3 goals in a game.

Also can anyone tell me, was defoe rested for our game or has he been sold? It was very strange to see him on the bench yesterday.

Im fully confident that we have the ability to get a result tomorrow, just hope the boys arent too tired…..COYI!!!!

  25. RoyClark says:

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and an early Happy New Year to all. I've been
away for a few days but did manage to plan all the family visits around the Chelsea and Portsmouth games.
The biggest positive, for me, to come out of these two games were that we showed far more fight than we had in several previous games. This, as all can see, has been lead by Scott Parker who has been magnificent. I do hope that Zola keeps much the same the same team for the Spuds. Behrami is the obvious choice to come in for Noble and I would move Collison left to give Ilunga some help with Diamanti as the front man of a midfield five.
I understand the calls for 3-5-2 but believe it would be a big potential risk to suddenly introduce it when it would be new to the players. The time to work on new systems is in pre-season. Half of them struggled with 4-3-3 and look far happier with 4-4-2 or the loan striker which we are forced to play with at the moment.
    A couple of mentions:
A lot hasn't come off for Franco in the past two games but the effort he puts in is admirable and we would be in real trouble without him at the moment.
Kovac had a very decent game against Chelsea and an excellent performance against Pompey. It's good to see recognition for this in the player markings.
Those who have called for Upson to go really do need to thin k again. He is our best defender by a street and his return has made a huge difference in the past two games.
Can we get anything at Spurs? I think that we just might.

  26. gollylady says:

next they'll be banning us from jam jars. I despair.
