Johnny Hartson is on the Road to Recovery

The Sun Newspaper has published a peice that brings the welcome news that Johnny Hartson is winning his battle against cancer.  I think that we can all agree that is fanastic news and something to be celebrated.

John Hartson is quoted as stating:

“We’ve all been through so much and to get the news from the doctors that the cancer is going from me is fantastic”

“I would like to thank every single person that has taken the time to either write to me, phone me or leave a message online, your ongoing support is helping me through the battle of my life and is keeping Sarah and the kids upbeat in such terrifying circumstances.”

“I’m not out of the woods yet, though this is my brightest day for a long time.”

Illnesses like this put everything in life in to its proper perspective.  Johnny Hartson was whole hearted on the field of play and gave everything to the West Ham cause, particularly in his first season when his goals were instrumental in saving us from relegation.

It is those fighting qualities, that we all remember so well, that will aid him on the road to full recovery.

We wish him and his family well.

  6. Super John was always a legend. Now he an even bigger legend.
Cancer came up against someone bigger than himself when he took on Super Johnny Hartson. Good luck and good health to him and lets hope before too long he can catch a game so we can give him the recognition he deserves

Just took a snap poll though, and out of 5 people, 4 rmember him for kicking a team mate in the face during training. Funny things memories.

Best of luck big man, keep fighting. I would've loved to see him at UP for a longer, a lion of a player showing the same spirit now.

My mother passed away just over two years ago from cancer and now I regularly run for the Bobby Moore Fund. Cancer in its many forms is cruel, aggressive, unforgiving in its fight for people's lives and I wish John a speedy recovery. It takes a lot to stand up to cancer and look it straight in the eye and John has done his family proud. I wish them all a happy Christmas and many more in ther future!
