1. He is on £250,000 a week at Bayern Munich.
2. Er, that’s it.

One reason we do need Chamakh is he is young, improving and can play 90 mins week in week out so we dont need a money grabbing over the hill mercenary who will break down like a second hand motor.
It is really getting drawn out the ownership saga surely someone has got the scent of value in the club surely?
Thats about as good a reason as you can get. That is an obscene wage; not even Fat Frank or the thug from Dagenham are on that!
Where did you get that wage figure from?
He s on £87,975 per week! Slight exaggeration but we if Bayern pay half Happy days.
Can you really see Bayern paying anything for him! After what has happend?
Maybe he’ll come to us out of spite ! And there is no way on earth he is on that anyway. He isn’t the highest payed player in the world.
the reason why west hma didnt sign eidur gud what ever his name is because he is 6 mill in debt through gambling !!!! now that makes far more sence !!
Jerk
Barca wanted 3 million € for Eidur Gudjohnsen. Monaco ended up paying 2 million €.
The transfer was to expensive, end of story.
Anyway, I’m happy with Diamanti. I think he still have quite alot more potential to discover. I’ll have to admit that Eidur is getting old also, though it pains me everytime he’s missing from the national team…
Give it another year, and we’ll probably see another icelander step up to the 11 starters
All depending on what if:
Is GZ promising tony toni toné a starting position along side Cole when he is back?
Or does that make it harder for Franco and Hines to get starting football?
Where the hell is Diamanti
I’m pretty sure Franco will give any attacker a run for their money. 1 goal against manu from his head, and hopefully he’ll net more than once.
Diamanti is injured, doubtfull that he’ll be back for the manu game
10 Reasons it's a good that we won't sign Luca Toni.
1, He a Prima Dona, tempramental average striker.
2. Err, that's it!
Don't forget mate, Franco could be gone in the summer and just because Toni gets a starying place, it doesn't mean he has to finish on the pitch!
Hines will be an impact sub for a while yet!
I can't see Franco going in the summer. If we have a deal to make the loan perminant already in place, there is no way we won't take it. Like Ilunga his stock has risen since we got him but I can't see the original deal being that high of a figure.
Our only chance is a loan deal (with BM still picking up a large part of the tab – better than nothing for them), unless someone buys us b4 the window (looking v unlikely) and still is unlikely to sanction anything like those wages.
I agree with others – Diamanti is an attcking midfielder not a fwd. We needed one more fwd for depth regardless of CC's injury.
Also, anyone know if we can send back Jimenez early? Magician my ****! Unless you're talking about how to get huge wages for being under average – that's some trick!
Iain (or SJ, whoever wrote the article) – Unless Toni's wages have trebbled this season, the £250,000 wages you report are way off target mate!
At the end of last season his wages were £87,975 a week.
Lol! Not forgetting that all important fiver – well, would you want to be short changed?
NEWS from another site: West Ham are braced for bids in January for a number of players. Clubs have already asked about Cole, Parker, Collison, Green and upson. However the club have slapped huge price tags on the wanted players as the club do not need to sell anyone and there is in fact a small pot of cash to bring in players. Luca Toni may arrive on loan for the rest of the season but the recent form of franco may end this deal. Latest on the takeover news is that Gold and Sullivan have approached the US led consortium with a plan to make a joint bid, however this is unlikely to work and Gold's silly games in the press and unrealistic bids have alienated him from the current board.____Read into it what you will!!____
All sounds pretty plausible but is most probably speculation again.
average? Have you seen the guys scoring record?
10 Reasons etc:
1) He a friend of Gianfranco Zola
2) Enough said
lol!!
"Be a pal, Luca. Take a 70% paycut for your old chum"
"no"
Here is how we afford Toni. The money put aside for the Chamakh deal is (or at least should) still be there. We had the money on the last day of the window, we didnt spend it, so it should be available for this window.
We pay a nominal fee to Bayern, so they save face, then we use the rest to pay Toni's wages.
The question I have is do we need him? Scoring goals certainly isnt a problem for us this season and with Upson's impending departure would our best bet be to sign a top class centre half. Especially with Dixon approaching match fitness and the form of Franco. Blowing a large portion of our transfer budget on a striker doesnt seem the best of ideas.
Ok average might have been the wrong word, something like 35 in 55 or something but that wasn't in the EPL, I have seen a few of his internatinal appearences recently and he's been diabolical!
Sorry, I just don't rate the guy that much! But that said, I wouldn't mind seeing him at UP to see if he could deliver.
I just don't see it! But rather him than Chamakh! He has to be the most overrated player I've seen in a long time!
Personally, I'd rather leave Toni where he is if he is going to be expensive and get us a decent Center Half!
But if Toni comes on a free and takes a 75% pay cut then give him a shot!
I coudn't put it better myself Matt. Toni has a good goalscoring record but whenever I watch him he looks OK at best! We are scoring for fun, but conceding at will. We need defenders. Def a proper right back and perhaps Upson's replacement. Ilunga will even be in trouble unless he starts making an effort, but hopefully he'll buck up! Wish I was there at the weekend..an exiting prospect
Completeyl agree Ray!
I just wish we (Zola and co) could sort the team out once and for all!
I really can't understand Ilunga! He was pure class last season, but this season he is pure ass! lol!
The only explanation I can think of it that he played well off of and along side Neill! As soon as Neill left, Ilunga went to pot.
News is that Zola is interested in a young defender from Sunderland! Anton something…….
Seriously Why would we want to sign on loan Luca Toni apart from the wages issue. We have young albeit inexperienced strikers in our squad and with CC out till January we need to look at someone like Chamakh who is young but has experience at Club/international level to supplement the team not hamper it.
We have had too many walking wounded players we have signed in the past.
Franco we have signed and is not on loan and since his arrival has settled and is doing a first class job for us. The main area we need to strengthen is in defence.
I also heard that a guy from Notts County is available on a free and could be a possibility but wages like Luca Toni could be a sticking problem.
Lol!
Errrr you can keep him thanks!
Have you ever seen Chamakh play? I have and he's nothing special! All the talk about him last season was totally unfounded! We can do a LOT better than Chamakh! Believe me
I'd have him in a heartbeat – so long as the price (wages) was (were) right.
Bundesliga top scorer last season with 24. 14 in 24 games this term under a manager that doesn't fancy him. World Cup winner scorer. Working with a manager who will bring the best out of him.
He's a class striker who has cut it in two of the toughest leagues in Europe, Champions League and International levels.
Nani discovered him and GZ is a brilliant man manager so they'd know how to handle his ego and other baggage.
With Upson going (gone?) and a defence already leaking, I'd say looking at further strike options when we have limited budget is non-sensical.
If we had conceeded 1 less goal a game this season we would be on 27 points, which I know is not a good way to look at things but still, demonstrates how close we are to being very very good.
I can think of (at least) one reason why we should sign him……………..

some guys have all the luck
Agree Gav, if you want the best you have to pay. Proven goal scorers of his ability don't come along very often and just think of the knowledge he could pass on to Hines, Dixon, Nouble and all the other younger players at the club – Invaluable!!
Him and Franco (if CC is still out) would work perfectly in my opinion.
No to Anton though, if he can't cut it at Sunderland !! do we want him back, sorry no, I think he just a posing prima dona living off his brothers name and reputation.
Spot on fella.
Sad fact is it's very unlikely he'll join us bearing in mind it's World Cup year and Italian players playing in the EPL tend not to be selected for the Azurri. Roma may well pick him up.
That's what I used to think about Tiger Woods.
I still do think Tiger Woods has ALL the luck
How about this reason…Toni had a fall out over not being played enough,Cole and Franco are first choice so why would he come to west ham to sit on the bench again.
Takes 2 to tango Chris. Van Gaal's coming under intense pressure from the Bayern fans for not playing him. I suspect he's not been man managed as well as he would at West Ham.
Gav don't get me wrong, I would love him here he's goal scoring record is good, but its not gunna happen.
Yeah – I know. I've pretty much said that on my reply to Paul on the previous comment.
Here's 2 reason's why we will beat Man U.
1.we are their bogey team(sometimes)
2.Vidic and co would of prefered Cole, Hines will be a pain in the butt.
I'm begining the think Italian agents are just using us as a free shopping window. Every summer/winter the tabloids are full of free publicity for these players through US. Toni, Hamsik, Balotelli, Aquafresca…. all of whom will NEVER sign for us but now seem to be drawing high figured deals from some of the teams floating round the top of the table.
Actually this is the deal for Franco……….I don't know what to make of the last part???
In September 2009 Franco signed for West Ham United on a one year contract, becoming the first Mexican to sign for the Hammers.[2]On 25 September it was disclosed that due to West Ham's perilous financial situation following former chairman Björgólfur Guðmundsson's financial collapse, West Ham's CEO Scott Duxbury, and their Sporting and Football Technical Director Gianluca Nani, had part financed the deal to buy Franco from their own salaries
Last time this world cup winning striker was mentioned I remember posting something along the lines of we should go and get him and tell him that if he scores the goals to keep us up that we will give him a big hefty bonus. Its all very well saying that we need a centre half – maybe we do, but if we can’t score goals at the other end it doesn’t matter how many defenders we’ve got.
Some may see him as an over the hill mercenary, but he would bring a lot more to the team than Hines and Stanislas at present. How many youngsters get the chance to play with someone who was once the top man in Serie A? They’d jump at the chance if they know what’s right.
However, its already been stayed above why he probably wouldn’t come. In 2006 when Italy won the world cup they were one of only two teams who had all 23 players in their squad playing football at home. The other was Saudi Arabia.
I’ve lived and worked in Italy. I speak the language and understand the Italian mentality. He wants to go home as he feels that his move has turned sour – just like Lucarelli when he went to Ukraine or wherever it was. Going home will help him revitalise his career, or so he believes. He has nothing to prove – he’s a world cup winner.
Toni has wanted to go back to Italy so he will be picked up for the WC team.
It's just speculation, but of course we would take any players right now which could improve us.
More importantly is ManU on saturday. I feel this is a good game for Noble to come back into the team. But where? Can he play that defensive midfield role? Should we move Parker there for this game and play Noble up the pitch? Or is Kovac to play again…?
If both Dyer and Diamanti are fit does anyone think Zola will start either? He seems to prefer to err on caution rather than take a risk. So does that mean we can expect the same team as last week with Hines replacing Cole?
This would be my team if they were fit enough to start;
Faubert, DaCosta, Gabiddon, Ilunga
Noble DM
Dyer, Parker, Collison
Hines, Franco
I'd then look to add Diamanti, Stanislas, and possibly Nouble in the second half.
If Noble is passed over in favour of Kovac, then I'd be worried about Noble's future under GZ. Kovac is rubbish – fact. How long will Noble want to sit on the bench watching Kovac mess up?
Update on Tiger Woods. Has officially changed first name to Cheetah.
One reason why we need Toni: We have a nightmare in our hands
Super-CC is injured. What now? Hines? errrrmmmm… His physical presence is not quite the same. Dixon? errrrrrmmmmm….. Nope, he is not going to do his debut at this game. Nouble? errrrmmmmm…. Why am I even thinking about it?
Diamanti? If he's fit I'm ready to hand him a starting place
I don't even want Kovac in the stadium. Yeah without Behrami or Upson I'd go with Faubert, DaCosta, Gabs and Ilunga at the back. Don't know how the midfield will pan out formation wise but Parker, Collison are givens. Franco is just what we need in a game like this and I'd probably pair him with Hines and see what the boy can do. If he looks out of his depth (which I don't feel he will) we can always chuck Dyer on Diamanti up front.
Seriously though Toni will not come to WH he will stay in Germany or move to an Italian club. This is just recycled media talk. AS far as bringing in new players we must look at how hard it was to attract players in the summer TW. We desperately need defenders to shore up our leaking goals on a weekly basis and whoever those may be we must take them from wherever we can. If that now means Upson is sold so be it. It is only 6wks to JanuaryTWand then we will see who our real targets are.
Good ol' Repka just scored an OG
Whatever the fella is on, I suspect that a) his best is well behind him and b) Bayern wouldn't mind him off the wage bill because of this
Feels like another potential pre-retirement move for the easy life, if you ask me. (I know you didn't!)
Possible reasons that Ilunga isn’t as good this season include 1) he’s affected by the clubs position – in other words he’s a player who has confidence problems
2) he hasn’t recovered from his broken jaw and is scared of something happening again and 3) he’s been found out. He’s not as good as we all thought.
I doubt that pining for Neill is one of them. Lucas might have shouted at him and told him where to stand but that’s where his influence will have ended.
More rumours than hot dinners:__West Ham will let Matt Upson go to Man City for an un resistable sum. Rob Green will go to Tottenham in a part ex deal involving David Bently. Zola is counting on the much talkded about takeover and has earmarked a surprise big name to come in and appease the fans, all be it at the later stages of his career____Mines a pizza!Lol!
