On Loan Starlet Interview Makes Interesting Reading!

On loan starlet Freddie Sears has obviously been enjoying his time with Crystal Palace.  He has confirmed that in a recent interview with a local paper over in South London.

His response to the question, what would you do if  Palace were promoted and the Hammers relegated this season makes interesting reading.

Sears is quoted in the Croydon Advertiser as stating:

“I’ve loved my time here from day one. I really want to stay for the rest of the season and repay the faith the manager and fans have shown in me.” “All the lads in the dressing room have been asking me what I’d do if we went up and West Ham went down,” he added. “You just don’t know what’s going to happen. I’m not saying that I don’t want to go back to West Ham but, as I say, I’ve loved my time here and think the club can really push on in the next couple of years.”

For the sake of his career, Sears needs to ensure that his focus is right.  He needs to score goals for Palace in the Championship as a direct stepping stone back into West Ham’s first team plans.   Because without a shadow of a doubt that is where he should be aiming to be!

We should continue to keep an open mind about Sears’ potential to make the grade, but he really does need to start underlining his  pedigree during this loan stint in the 2nd tier.  I know he has had an injury, but by this stage of the season he should be turning in the kind of performances that raise the the prospect of his return to bolster the Hammers squad!

As it is, there does not presently appear to be any such move for his return and he is likely to get his expressed wish to remain at Palace for the rest of this season!

Freddy Sears has got potentials, his quick and building up to be strong, he can be a very good player, just needs to be developed.

I'm afraid Freddie Sears has as much chance as me of getting back in the first team.

Hines is a far superior player, as is Dixon. I think it will suit all parties for him to join Palace permanently.

    • I would love Freddie to start turning in the performances that would indicate that he could make the grade at west ham. However, it doesnt look like happening yet. He was unfortunate to get injured and unfortunate not to get the dream start (with a perfectly good goal being ignored). Comments like these will not help ingraciate him with the faithful and maybe he is indicating that he thinks he can't make it, which likely means he can't!

And, as DevoDevo said, Hines is better and who knows, Dixon might manage to stay fit and turn out to be better than Deano.

Did you know we are 3 points behind where we were last season at this stage?

Food for thought for all the doom merchants.

    • Spot on Devo, we are playing the right basic formula and the results will come, the football is very attractive in patches and Hines and Cole just get better and better.

Yep – aaaand – many have compared this team to the one that was relegated under Glenn Roeder (Sir Trev worked miracles but didn't manage the impossible). So therein lies the crux of it. When we were relegated Glenn Roeder was responsible. Gianfranco Zola and Steve Clarke are at the helm now. GoCompare Dot Com?

Maybe Freddie is keen to stay because he's found his level. That said, who would you prefer to learn the attacking game from – Warnock or Zola?

  5. Roshi says:

The poor kid has been brainwashed by that egotistical idiot who professes to be a football manager. Lets hope for Freddie's sake that he remains injured, that way the idiot will not be able to teach him anything about how to become a one dimensional negative player.
    In a nutshell I can't stand Warnock!

SJ: Just a point of order…STARLET actually means young actress. It as a feminine noun with no masculine intent.
As for Freddie, I reckon we've see the last of him in claret and blue. He hasn't actually cut the mustard at Palace so I can't see him heading back across the Thames any time soon…if at all.

  7. AussieGraham says:

Perhaps he should plan for his early retirement like Carlos Tevez ,I remember getting tired at 25 but I think it was the all night parties Carlos not the heavy pay packet weighing you down!

I broke the news some time ago about ashtons career over along time before the papers got news of it,most people on here didn't believe me,but there was alot of talk about his at chadwell heath for a while, the thing that's worrying me is the same people who were talking about Ashtons career being over, are talking about Cole going Man utd,I broke this news a few weeks back and everyone laughed at me! but reports in the news paper this morning suggest it's true! If Man ure come in for him there's no way your going to stop the player from wanting out.
    Tell their wrong please!

  9. Cole might want to consider the amount of games he will get! They already have Rooney, Berbatov, Owen and a couple of up and coming youngsters.

  10. Roshi says:

Cole can go where he likes if it brings in anything north of £15M. Maybe I miss something, but I still remain to be convinced about his overall ability. Is it the fact he is all we have got that we look at him through rose tinted glasses. He will be a bit part player at Utd.
