Can We Expect an FA Investigation?

The Carling Cup, hooliganism and pitch invasion!   No, I am not talking about West Ham Vs Millwall this time!  I am in fact referring to the more recent disturbances at Tuesday evening’s Carling Cup tie between Barnsley and Manchester Utd!

It has been reported on the KUMB website that the match saw clashes between Man Utd ‘fans’ and South Yorkshire Police, the terrorising of Barnsley catering staff, the looting of the stadium’s food outlets, theft and fans invading the field of play.

Surely, these events merit an investigation by the FA and, pending the outcome,  the preparation of appropriate charges?  Afterall, Barnsley and Man Utd appear to have failed to control their fans.  As such, is it not only right and proper that the same standards and procedures should be applied to them as West Ham and Millwall?

Alternatively, do the FA pick and choose who they get heavy with?   Or do they just react to the coverage in the media?  (media coverage of the crowd trouble on Tuesday has been very muted in comparison with that at the West Ham-Millwall tie!).

So, are the FA going to prove that they are even handed in these matters?    We shall see?

If no FA investigation materialises, you could always write/email or leave a message on the Football Association website asking why no comparable  action has been taken in this case?   You may not get a  satisfactory explanation, but at least you will have the personal satisfaction of challenging the FA’s apparent double standards in invoking its disciplinary procedures!

Lofty, I deal with lawyers all day long and on average, they are generally brain-dead outside a law book, anyway, what did he do to prove his intelligence to you when you met him, show you his study record!

However, I defer to your obvious in depth knowledge of the subject matter and beg forgiveness for commenting on something you said

Anyway, apologies to Alvin, it was my scousist streak

Bilic, whose father was a university vice-chancellor, qualified as a lawyer in Croatia. That doesn't make him intelligent, I agree, but it does suggest he is not quite the thicko you suggest.
I met him when he was made a goodwill ambassador of the United Nations Children's Fund, Unicef. He was highly impressive during his speech and afterwards as he mixed and exchanged views in several languages with UN officials, politicians, sportsmen and children.
Again, that doesn't make him intelligent, but I was impressed nonetheless.
I'm afraid I didn't ask for his study record, as you put it. Didn't think it appropriate.

Slightly off topic with regards to the FA investigation
With Marlon King now being gaoled for assault & ABH I feel that he or any footballer should get what is coming to them. They are not above the law and
role models to fans and clubs alike. Also now multi millionaires some do not care and beleive that they are able to get away with this sort of thing. They need help in trying to rehabilitate themselves and learn from their mistakes but on this occasion MK hasnt & deserves all he gets. Whether he now has a future in football we will see in 18mths time

FISHY…It will be interesting to watch West Ham's approach to Calum Davenport should he be found guilty of assault on a woman.
Obviously we are a long way from that and he does appear to be denying the charges, but the issue of his dismissal will arise if the case goes against him.
I think Dave Whelan's reaction to the despicable King was highly commendable.
It might be argued that every club chairman would have acted in the same manner, but I am not so sure.
I know it's hypothetical now, but would Liverpool have sacked Stevie G if he had been found guilty of assault in his recent case? I think we all know the answer.

  6. birinani is loving west ham and wants to stay……now that makes me a happy hammer !!! top bannana !!

I'm more interested in Saturday's fixture.

I sense a turning of the tides now that Zola has seen the error of his ways using Diamanti behind TWO forwards and players are on there way back.

Franco showed enough to me to suggest that he will have a part to play this season. Behrami & Collison look as good as ever. Gabbidon & Dyer are fit again. Dixon gets a goal in the stiffs and is coming along nicely and in Carlton Cole, we know have one of the hottest properties in the Premiership.

I fancy us to get all 3 pts tomorrow. Yes, we are missing Parker – I'd put Valon there and draft in Stanislas and they have been prolific up front. However, they are weak at the back and we have an excellent record against them.

    1-2

Devo…I'm jumping onboard your wave of optimism. I'm fed up being fed up and am ready to book a ticket for the next bus to Happyville.
Anton is as bad as ever…let's hope the wannabe sticks to the script.
Never forget…He looks like his brother but plays like his mother.

Hop on, Lofty – it will be standing only soon!

@Basildon bob the sparrows farted and woke me up HAPPY DAYS !!!
