True about the penalty Justin, the point, however, is that Faubert let Etherington get on the wrong side of him. As such he put himself at a distinct disadvantage. Any contact in that situation and the forward is likely to go down. Result, penalty.
It is something that I have noticed many times before in recent seasons. Officials are continually conned on the pitch and they usually fall for it. I am convinced forwards are now coached to go down at the slightest contact. It is a very unattractive aspect of the modern game.
As such, defenders have to position themselves so that desperate, last ditch tackles are, as far as possible, kept to a minimum.
Still, Faubert has done well so far this season at right-back. And the important thing is that he learns from the incident and puts it right for the future. He will certainly be helped out in future matches, now that Berhami is back in the side to provide defensive cover on the right.
We should calm down, stop the bickering and petty insults and talk football. Yes, contributors on here strongly disagree. Some are taking the long view and remaining cool. Others are pushing the panic button because, rightly or wrongly, they feel that it is merited.
I strongly disagree with talk of managerial sackings and assured relegation. I think it is an over-reaction and completely ignores the positives. However, is it surprising that some contributors take that view? Many still have the mental and emotional scars of 2002-03 and the relegation of a team that should have easily been top 10 and subsequent loss of its young stars.
I do not doubt that Chris is West Ham, even if he is very much of the pessimistic school of thought. Others like Dave the Yank appear obvious ringers, coming on here trying to spread doom, gloom and depression.
Lets try to remember that (apart from any ringers) we are all Hammers fans. Yes, we disagree and we may be irritated by some people’s views, but they are their views and they are entitled to express them.
Passion and debate is welcomed, disrespectful and insulting comment is not. WHTID’s rules require its contributors to keep to certain standards and the recent parish notice reminded us of that. So lets keep it passionate, but respectful people. It benefits everyone, and indeed this blog as a whole, if we keep it that way.
Morning chandos…..Thanks,yes I'm very much claret and blue,a little pessimistic, but a devoted fan that travels all over the country.I have tried to remain positive for year's but never recovered from watching T.Brown destroy the club with the loss of so much talent.
Recent Poster's seem so confident we will beat the drop, but history show's that we do yo yo between 1st and 2nd.
I have been watching the hammers for over 35 years and I have seen this slippery slope far to often, the team at present looks devoid of idea's and I just don't rate Zola and he's 1 upfront tactic's,he has lost players I agree but he and Nani had around 10million to find a striker.
This place has gone to the dogs.
It's actually more fun at Monmore or Romford Devo!
Had many a dog run at Romford, Shropshire and you're not wrong!
couldn't agree more
Here here Devo devo sorry to say but I agree with you the newer guys don't seem to get it ?
Devo and E1, Iain has laid down the law and people have just ignored it on this thread. It’s got to stop here and now!
Otherwise he is going to have to adopt a tougher line with yellow cards and bans for persistent offenders. Iain does not want to do it, but will if it is necessary to preserve the quality of the blog!
