Apologies for not posting this on Monday evening.*
Anyway, here’s the Player Performance poll for the Manchester City game. Vote HERE.
*For those interested, my life at the moment is turned upside down as I have just been shortlisted to be the next Tory MP for Bracknell. Any of you live there, or in Sandhurst, Crowthorne or Finchampstead? I might need your support at the selection Open Primary on Saturday 17th! More details HERE, for anyone who’s interested. I have this image of me giving an answer about regenerating Bracknell Town Centre and someone shouting from the back: Come on You Irons!

Matty, LT obviously has lost patience with Van Gaal and has decided he wants a new challenge with his mate GZ. when this one comes off and it will and possibly Chamakh still in the boiling pot. Once everyone is fit and up to EPL
standard Gz will have a completely new look team to play with. Da Costa has said how his enthusiasm has come back in the official site interview and how he likes the fans and has admitted he is not yet fit.
Sunday 2-0 Fulham have injury concerns & Duff will not play as well as a number of other regulars
The season starts now admiitedly 2mts late. last season we had 12points at this time in the season. Lol!!!
I think there is a chance that we will get Toni, think we will ahve to wait til Jan though, rather that Celtics optimistic hope that they might cancel his contract and let him sign for us!
As far as Chamkha is concerned, he's not coming mate! If he wanted to come, he woudl have made sure it happened in the summer! All Wenger is doing is slating him so Bordeaux lower his price in the summer! He WILL end up at Arsenal!
He is another Benni McCarthy, so close on Transfer Deadline Day and it never happened!
I'll welcome Toni with open legs though! I mean arms!
Matty! lol
Sorry I took that as a new article accoring to Newsnow pages
You can still WATCH this SPACE though!!!!
Yeah it fooled me for a couple of minutes! lol
Is is possible to get Luca Toni before January?
An also the Mirror points out some positives about our season so far.
http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/opinion/blogs/fan...
Unlikly, Toni is still under contract so Jan TW would be a more realistic option
As for the Mirror a good positive article for once
I wouldn't mind having him here and i wish we could just secure him now before any vultures swoop in. But i think Nani/Zola's friendship with him could be enough.
Eric if Toni reached an agreement with Munich for his contract to be cancelled then he could sign as a free agent but if he were simply to quit then he would be placed on gardening leave like Campbell was after quiting Notts County.
I still think we should invite Sol to train with the club as his experience would be invaluable around the club.
jacob's piece, eric?
That's two good posts he has made – I think he must read this blog. B)
correct, sir.
Personally, Matt, I would have Harry back as manager tomorrow.
Along with Fergie and Wenger, he leads the pack as far as I'm concerned.
Still troubled with the fact that GFZ is serving his apprenticeship with us.
I like him immensely, but apprentices tend to F-up at some stage. For us, that could mean the drop.
Would make an interesting thread…Harry or GFZ.
Bet there's not one person who would disagree with me (joke).
REALLY? I wouldn't touch the tosser with a big stick! He's 2 faced and can't be trusted! And personally (just my opinion) I don't think he's a great manager! He's OK but wherever he has been he has been blessed with a team of great players!
I dont think he would be doing any better than Zola is with the team we have now!
As far as Zola is concerned, I adore the bloke and think he is an amazing coach! But right now, I think that is all he is! I have no problem with him learning hi strade at West Ham and hope he makes it as a big boy in the management circuit! AS LONG as he oesn't ruin our premiership status whilst doing so!
Don't think it's a coincidence that Harry is always blessed with a team of great players, as you describe them.
As the game's biggest buyer and seller, I think Harry's experience enables him to surround himself with great (or good) players.
The Pompey side that won the Cup were primarily Harry's buys. He has bought well at Spuds and has spotted the chancers there as well.
Don't want to sound like his PR man, but I do think he is top drawer.
Each to their own though, Matt.
An interesting quote that sums up quite a lot I think:
"The crowds at West Ham have never been rewarded by results but they keep turning up because of the good football they see. Other clubs will suffer from the old bugbear that results count more than anything. This has been the ruination of English soccer." — Ron Greenwood, West Ham manager 1961-1974.
Claret…
Not sure if I should laugh or cry! I'm sure good old Ron wasn't taking us for granted, but it sure feels like that sometimes.
If I were a cynical rewrite man, Ron's words could be offered slightly differently. Maybe: We haven't won a sausage for years, but don't worry…the mug punters will turn up anyway as long as we knock it around a bit.
Thank God none of thinks that way.
I think laughing is the West Ham way don't you? I'm sure you'll agree, not being a cynic and all….
if you ask me, id take midtable obscurity whilst playing good attractive football, rather than finishing slightly higher with no entertainment for the fans.
you take us away, and there is no club
Probably true, snowy, but I would give up one season of attractive stuff for a bit of silverware.
Fed up with being the nice guys who finish second (or much much lower, if you catch my drift)
Its sad to see Pompey drifting closer to the abyss, for once I am glad of the retraint shown by the media in dealing with this. Pompey are in serious serious trouble, they have suffered Harrys spending sprees as well as a succession of chairmen who to be charitable (and avoid a law suit) have affairs that dont bare close scrutiny.
If the press had taken the same systematic approach to smearing Pompey as they did to us then its doubtful they would have survived. With us no matter how much mud they threw at us we were a stable club and the underlying figures supported that. It is because of this that we were not force to give into any demands to sell players as we had never failed to meet our financial obligations.
If Pompey have missed or delayed payment on players salaries then it is virtually certain that they have gone beyond terms from trade creditors and lenders.
Had these creditors been forced to read similar doom and gloom stories predicting the impending collapse of a "crisis" club it is doubtful they would have been satisfied to extend their payment terms to the club. West Ham were at least able to mantain their payment schedules and avoid such concern. The fact remains that while we are not a cash rich club we are certainly a financially stable one.
At the risk of being accused of being a cold hearted so and so, if Pompey continue to struggle to meet player salaries then those players are free to leave the club and immediately join a new club. The question is have Pompey any players who we would like to see at WestHam
No. 'Arry took them all.
Celtic, Good post, as I said in an earlier post it mystifies me as how after a period of months Portsmouth having had a fire sale over the past year and now after the FA/PL fit & proper persons test and appapparent takeover by
SalFahim he has not enough money in the bank to pay staff salaries
SOMETHING SEROIUSLY DOES NOT ADD UP.
Despite all our financial problems we have managed to keep hold of all our players buy some untried players who we hope will step up to the plate given time. We are basically a stable club and manage to pay our staff and hope that the long awaited takeover buy a new owner is not too far away
As for players I dont feel they are good enough for WH and are serious contenders for the CL next season as I see another loss for them this wk
Fishy the Premier League fit and proper persons league approved a corrupt deposed former Thai dictator, ruling family members from countries where women are treated as second class citizens and human rights are a minor concern at least. Thats not to mention Uzmanov at Arsenal who has spent 6years in a hard labour camp in Uzbekistan for extorting and threatening a Russian army officer and was described by former British Ambassador Craig Murray as "a gangster and a racketeer" neither his nor Romans backgrounds would lead to either of them being classed as fit or prper persons by any rational standard
Celtic, you are a cold hearted so and so!
lol
The only players I think I would have liked at West Ham have already left mate! Krankjar (or however you spell it)…
BUT….If Green was to leave, I wouldn't mind giving James another shout! I like him! (let the slating begin) lol
As much as I like Portsmouth, and I do! I think they are a a good, professional team, I can't say I'm sorry that it looks like they will be relegated as it means one less place for us!
Sorry Pompey fans!
Matt I think we will be well clear of any relegation scrap and am not concerned about who is involved in it. I do find it amusing though that Harrys last two clubs were both left in financial ruins following his time in charge. Lets hope he keeps the run going at the spuds!
Personally I never knew why people rated him as a manager, his attitude has always been that if you buy enough of players some of them are bound to work out. I get the impression that when he puts his arm around a player's shoulders he can get the best out of him but if he decides he has no interest in you then he treats players quite badly in the press, like he did with Darren Bent.
For all of that Harry is the source of my favourite ever WestHam quote, when asked about his time playing with former Hammers greats he said "We had Hurst, Moore and Peters in the team and we still finished 17th, goes to show how crap the rest of us were!"
Hey! The thread went to the end but me minces are doing cartwheels.
Wow, what a trip. This place is mad, man. Normal service resumed and my old avatar.
Cooooooooooooooooooooool.
Good to see Hines get a call up for 21's – I've already seen enough to tell me he is better than Sears.
