I don’t know how familiar you are a West Ham magazine called EX, but if you don’t subscribe, I would highly recommend it. It appears quarterly and specialises in lengthy interviews with West Ham stars of the past. In the latest issue Tony McDonald interviews former West Ham striker Trevor Morley. He talks for the first time in detail about the time he was stabbed by his wife and puts to rest the rumours that he and Ian Bishop were gay lovers. He thinks it was his wife who started the rumours.
I even think it must have been her who started the rumour about me being caught in bed with Bish. Nothing about Bish, me and the gay talk had ever been reported in the media, so how did those rumours spread so quickly? Within two days of my stabbing, my sister phoned from Nottingham to ask: “What’s all this we’ve herd up here about you and Bish?” It was amazing how it spread just through word of mouth, and, I have to say, I didn’t handle it well.
He reveals he turned down £20k from a newspaper to tell his story but says he now wishes he had been more open about what had really taken place.
The rumours about me being gay killed me for a whiole. I’ve got nothing against gays – I now have friends who are gay – but it’s not nice to be called a homosexual when you aren’t one. How many times does Robbie Williams have to come out and tell the world he isn’t gay. The more you say it, the more people start to believe it’s true… It ruined my football for a while. I’d go out onto the field and hide. I didn’t want to be there… Hearing gay comments from some West Ham fans was hard to take.
Trevor Morley did a great job for West Ham in his five years at the club. He wasn’t a prolific scorer by any means, but he knew where the goal was and when he was on form he was a superb player to watch.
Subscriptions to Ex Magazine cost £12pa. To subscribe phone 01708 744333. And no, I am not on commission!

Reckon he’ll have a 15-minute runout? Hope he stays safe.
sounds like him and diamanti might start from the bench. Maybe valon is only going to translate?
Hopefully he’s not pushed too hard too fast but be great to see him playing again. And Ilunga is far behind so a nice bright future!
COYI!

On the wigan match preview and remark about Ashton it may be nothing but I emailed WHU a few days ago asking for an update on Ashtons’ fitness. I havn’t had a reply from my email but the detailed info on team news and long term injuries Ashton & LBM goes a long way in giving us some long awaited news.
Yeah, sorry guys, I just can’t see Wigan’s poor run continuing… they will be really battling.
Naturally I would be delighted to be proved wrong
If Rob Green continues with his clean sheets he may soon be passing VDSars record of last season. Lets hope so.
I thought this thread was about Morley and Bishop… I wouln’t say it lays the ghost to rest and he doesn’t explain how he got stabbed does he ? I kno his estranged wife did it, but why ? Or did i miss something ?
No 32 – The thread is to lay the ‘gay rumours’ to rest mate! And I think it does that pretty well
my my children ,this is the funniest thing ive read in ages.a west ham football forum of which i must say up to recently has been very good, being the subject of political correctness.both dg and celtic hammer have valid points .freedom of speech boys dont forget that.we dont have to all agree about everything but what we have is that we all want the best for our team.so lets have a john and yoko love in in amsterdam and all share the same big bed and show our love for west ham.oh yes we will win 2-0 tomorrow.peace and goodwill to all of you xxx
danny my point is that given that Iain provides this site for us to discuss WestHam that D&G was bang out of order in what he said.
Ordinarily it wouldnt have bothered me too much but give that the guy only posts on here to rubbish the club and predict our downfall I just had enough!
He is now writing off Diamanti before he has even played for the first team, despite him scoring to excellent free kicks during the week.
I still havnt got an explanation to his claim that “we have debts that have to be paid pronto”
Guys, I am becoming increasingly annoyed with The Game’s Gone Crazy blog and his slanderous comments about West Ham and our players.
As suggested yesterday I have created an online petition to get him removed from
NewsNow before he does permanent damage to young West Ham minds.
In these uncertain times, we really don’t need his comments making things worse.
I have tried in vein to get him removed but if enough of us sign, then maybe NewsNow will do teh right thing.
If you would like to sign it, the petition is here
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/NewsNow/
I will leave it up a couple of days before submiting it.
Thanks
Matt
I’ve become a bit disillusioned with this blog over the past few weeks as, and I’ve mentioned it before, it’s become more like a chat room than a blog. Some of the stuff on here today has not really been what I want to see discussed and the personal insults seem to have become more frequent.
So I’m off for a bit. May look in every now and then to see if the toys have been put back in the pram.
Roymondo, stick around mate! I’ve been chatting to Iain and in the next couple of days, a few things will be improved.
Just give it 48 hours mate!
Thanks Fishy!
I understand the name now!
lol
Matty, I’m in (on the petition that is)
celtic my big apologies i didnt know about the comments about diamanti, but i still think a big love in is the way foward.either that or we all meet up ,get drunk and realise we are all one race, peace and love to all of you hammers
Thanks for signing guys! Appreciate it!
If you have any friends that want to sign, please get them to sihn it!
I’d like around 50 signatures before I submit it!
Is this post about:
1 – Trevor Morely
2 – west ham v wigan
3 – celtichammer v d&g
4 – Trevor Morley
(sorry ’bout that)
Open Discussion v Mutual Backslapping
Mokum, what you on about mate?
The question they are asking on the tv here in oz is Lucas Neil unemployable?
Very convincing. So why did his wife stab him? Just because he was alone in bed bashing the bishop?
Hi Matt, good to see your support for open debate! Duxbury pulling your strings too by any chance? Why not sign in on the site in question and air your views under your name rather than bitching on here? Just a thought.
Aussie, it appears clubs feel that he is asking too much in wages for his services
Hammersfan, I don’t sign in to your site because you are a disgrace! Your posts are insulting to West Ham and us REAL fans!
If you have something to say to me, by all means say it here! But I won’t be seen dead on your joke of a site!
And I will do whatever it takes to get you removed from Newsnow.co.uk
But if you want to clean your posts up, I will leave it!
Matt, you have signed in before. You are the guy who deemed it appropriate to refer to Millwall as Millscum whilst a Millwall fan was in hospital after the stabbing. I am sure news Now will value your opinions when I share your post with them. Very responsible and really helpful for the image of the club I must say. You may not like my opinions but that is your right. I think Duxbury has played a big part in buggering the club I love and I will continue to voice my opinions in defiance of fascists who wish to close off any opinions they do not share. Duxbury gave his interviews to Mr Dale and KUMB to build a support base amongst the fans – a familiar technique. I think he is a Machiavellian individual who puts himself first. You disagree. But I use my blog to condemn the violence we saw at Upton Park when Millwall visited, you call them Millscum. Who is the more responsible I wonder?
This stops here. Right now. Any further comment on this subject will be deleted.
FFS grow up.
Matt, I’m signed up. No offence mate but you might check the spelling on your petition. It’s
tried in vain, sorry I’m a compulsive speller.
Agree with you all the way on Games Gone Crazy, also glad to see you talking to Iain about personal insults on here, not my idea of fum either.
Errrr sorry to burst your little bubble but I have NEVER posted on your site! I have been on your site and read your remarks!
It is NOT the posts on the violence we disagree on, it;s the constant slagging off of our players and club!
Blaming Green for the goal on Weds night for instance…
Fair play Iain! By all means mate delete my posts on the subject.
Matt, you did sign in. The comments are saved. Hi Iain, good to be on whilst you are here. Not sure why the debate is considered inappropriate given Matt’s attempt to organise a petition against a West ham blog.
Out of genuine interest, who are your “sources” in the club? Are you not concerned about the way history is being regularly rewritten by SD? What was his involvement in the Tevez affair exactly? Why did he agree the out of court settlement? What is happening with Ashton? Why were we considering offers for both Collins and Upson simultaneously? Any truth in the rumour that Spector was offered to Spurs?
Why isn’t this blog a bit more hard hitting? Your posts are very brief and totally lacking in analysis. The chat facility seems good but you do come across as Mr Bland with your comments I am sorry to say. My take on that is that you are currying favour with the powers that be – SD. Is that wrong? Genuine questions from a genuine West Ham fan.
Matt, I think Green was at fault for the goal. So? Am I not allowed to say that?
Hammersfan, We all have our own opinions, but to constantly make dirogatory remarks about the club, players and managemnet team are out of order and not required on this site or any other site for that matter.
if you write posts that are directed at persons who obviously cannot defend themselves against this because either they are not aware that your so called site exists or do not read it because your so called site is not worth a visit.
It is also could be called libel in the legal world and I know that I would not like to go there.
I told the both of you to lay off, not just you.
As to my sources, you think I am going to reveal them to you? Dear oh dear.
If you don’t like what I write and you think it is bland feel free to bugger off back to your own blog. It’s a free country.
By hard hitting you no doubt mean trouble making. If I have criticism to make, I make it. But I do not do it gratuitously. Maybe that’s why this blog is considered a reasonable place to hold debate. It’s not full of the bile of others. But it is heading that way and I am going to stop it happening. Believe me.
PS Matt, you are at liberty to argue against my opinion on here, on my site or on your own blog if you want to. We live in a free society and debate is healthy. I refer to The Three Monkeys and the Claret & Blue Klan, the type of fans who refuse to accept any criticism of the club. I was a vehement opponent of Curbvishley when he was in charge because of the style of football he favoured. I am a critic of Duxbury because of his constant shifting of position. Remember how he told us that we had nothing to worry about over Tevez? £25m later, it appears that wasn’t really true.
Fair enough Iain, different blogs perform different roles. I was not suggesting that the threat of termination applied to one side only.
But genuinely, what was Duxbury’s role in the Tevez affair? Presumably you know.
I am going to say this one more time. This is a thread about Trevor Morley. if you want to have a private spat, so it elsewhere. Any other posts along these lines from you will be deleted.
Each to their own opinion.
We already have had handbags at 50 paces earlier on this blog we dont want another!!!
Iain, Its down to you
Back to Morley, I was a huge fan of both him and Bish. Trevor had a lot more about him than he was ever given credit for. Like Cole, he made others around him look better because of the unglamourous work he put it. Bishop had that touch of class – he was a real “West Ham” player. Gay or not, who cares? The story was always a good way of triggering memories of them as players. Didn’t Fashanu share the team bath with them both briefly? I bet they were blowing bubbles!
I have nothing more to say on the matter.
As stetd this is a thred about Trevor Morely.
I was wrong to put my link in this thread, I should have gone about it a different way.
Sorry about that!
Matt, if this is allowed through, I genuinely have no issues with you disapproving of my point of view. That is your absolute right. Take me on in debate, prove me wrong! (Sorry Iain, I have no other way of saying that. Last word!)
Must admit, the Morley-Bishop rumours have spiced up many a dinner party over the years. Frankly, I have no interest whether they are true or not but the scandal has been highly amusing. Shame the mag report couldn;t have shed more light on the stabbing incident.
I trade in half truths and gossip, but I wouldn’t mind knowing what really happened.
Yes, before the cerebal among you point out the obvious, I am shallow and don;t have enough in my life to keep me occupied.
Anyone know what Bish and Morley are doing these days?
Spot on Horters! I feel exactly the same way! Who cares if it is true? And why hasn’t Bish denied it?
Hammersfan…silence and denial are the same thing. Well, that’s what my solicitor says anyway.
