Just in case people run away with the impression that West Ham is a club full of mindless idiots, they should think again.
Jack Collison made himself available for selection last night, less than forty eight hours after learning his father had died on the way to watch him play on Sunday. None of us expected Jack to play, but the fact that he did says a lot about his strength of character.
Those who invaded the pitch did more than let down the club. They also let down Jack Collison.
Jack left the pitch in tears last night. All he wanted was to escape from the traumas of the last few days and play a game of football. He wanted to escape into normality. Those who invaded the pitch prevented that from happening and made Jack’s already parlous state of mind, all the worse.
And if that doesn’t make them feel a sense of shame, nothing will.

Chris we will get Diamnti and Eidure me thinks! Not ideal but better than nowt!
Matt this Diamnti fella dont score much! only in league 2,bit like Chopra then!
Yes mate but in all fairness, I don’t think we will get anyone else now! (I may be and hope I am wrong).
But he has never played EPL and it might suit him! he MIGHT knock 20 in! He might knock 2 in but that 2 might be enough to keep us out of the bottom 3!
Matt I never said his celebrations were terrible but, given the circumstances, running at the Millwall fans to celebrate was inappropriate to say the least. You have your opinion and I have mine.
Indeed you do Munky!
But tell me, what would you have done in the heat of the moment after scoring in that fashion against Millscum???
I would have been in the crowd with the Millscum fans! lol
Bet that ball & bat Danny Dyer was creaming his pirates of penzance at this ‘wite propa tear up’
When I first saw Jack Collison play I knew there and then he was an outstanding football talent. I have posted on here several times that I believe he can be everybit as good as Gerrard.
What I didn’t realise was that he is also a giant of a man with heart and passion way beyond his years. I really hope the board see that we have a real diamond amongst us and not only tie him to our club for a long time but also look to build a team around his natural talent.
He will only get better, and to me that means world class. Give him 2-3 years and he will be the most wanted player in the Premier league, lets pray we can hold on to him.
We are all thinking of you and youre family mate, from all the TRUE hammer fans.
on another note, i read that we are now after Quaresma, when will it end??????????
The true face of MILLSCUM!

Matt When I was his age I dread to think what I would have done. But if I’d acted like that at work (and he was at work) I would have been in deep poo!
It didn’t exactly set him apart from the cast of the Jeremy Kyle show dancing around him like retards.
Agreed on Collison. His dad would be proud of him.
Talking of true faces here’s a clip from inside the BMU showing clearly what the crowd thought of the pitch invaders from the BML.

D&G cheers for that. Needed something to make me smile today.

Where do you read about Quaresma?. I cannot find anything about new players that we signed!
Amongst the “trial without jury” media opinions, here, below, is a more balanced article that puts a little more perspective on a dark night for West Ham, Millwall and English football.
Let us hope lessons are learnt (again) and that the mindless thugs are named, shamed and banned for life.

I saw that too Paul M! Us and Spurts! Who would YOU choose now??? Hmmmmmmm
@elenenyc, that’s been covered in the Guardian FIver’s letter’s page, and, having read a bit about it, I’m with the scousers, to be honest.
One thing about last night that hasnt been asked is why do so many of the fat morons feel the need to take their shirt off on the pitch and display a physique that can only be achieved through years of dedicated, regiemented………..neglect?
Do they really think the sight of their swinging beer guts and disco tits is going to scare opposition fans or were they just trying to drum up a new sponsorship deal for the club with Greggs?
Maybe it wasnt a pitch invasion, maybe the fat gits were just trying to lose weight on a sponsored fun run and got lost! Or maybe they were simple resonding to a PA announcement for “the people who ate all the pies to make themselves known to stewards”.
The sight of all of those fat shirtless blokes made the pitch look like a casting call for a very low budget sequel to The Full Monty. Mind you if they were male strippers the crowd would be throwning blankets not cash and they would have to be known as the Fish&Chippendales!
For future reference if your body is more CrimeWatch than BayWatch keep your shirt on you fat morons.
I think the words ” you’re fat and i’ll you in the river ” spring to mind celtic ! Idiots idots idots stop watching too many films and grow up you’re not hard and you don’t impress me. Go walk the streets of helmand or basra then we’ll see how brave you are.
I think i’ll callthem Greggs FC from now !
Porthsmouth maybe you could save on mortars and just lob those fat blokes at the taliban! Apart from the sheer panick it would instill, feeding them would use up all the cash they have for buying guns. Or you could use them to smother suicide bombers and absorb the impact!
Celtic I love your angle ! I’m sure we could think of many useful things to do or make out of our fat stupid members of the mighty greggs FC maybe we could tell them that by giving a suicide bomber a cuddle there would be lots of fatty goods given to them as a sign of thanks
Yeah Porthsmouth the suicide bombers get 72 virgins and the fat hooligan gets 72 family size buckets of chicken!
How gutted would you be if you thought you were getting 72 virgins, but one fat idiot pretend west ham supporter came along instead !
For Richard

fair enough but i think contacting his family is over the line.
With the aftermath of last nights violence
the media reports on transfers has gone quiet
although I read on the BBC gossip column Diamanti is supposed to be having a medical today wednesday to complete his move to west ham not to mention who is possiby leaving to finance these deals. But until Sky or the Club make an official statement to confirm this with anyone else we have been associated with I am still not convinced. Sit tight and continue to pray that we will eventually bring in the strikers we need. No doubt the management have been rather tied up with other matters today
Anyway whats the rush we only have 6 days to go before the window closes. PLENTY OF TIME
Paul M
It will end on 1st September 2009 at 0000HRS
Love this guy, great strength of character and my thoughts are with him and his family
Matty, I agree with you now is the time to move on. That is yesturdays news.
TIME TO LOOK FORWARD NOT BACK
Bring on Blackburn!!!
ENOUGH SAID
Fishy
I know it ends on 1st September, my post was aimed at all the gossip and links to more than 15 players through this window !!! As in ‘Good god when will it end’
Yes keep them quiet for a few months till January
Game should of been switched to a weekend 12.oopm kickoff and the league match changed for another date.
If they meet again you can be assured it will be….
Paul M
Thanks for the link.
It was only a few days ago that there was a debate about Green Street 2 on this site. People were saying how they thought it was rubbish but admitted they’d seen Green Street. I said back then i’d seen all that stuff for real in the eighties and i didn’t understand the need to glorify violence. Then all of a sudden (as if we couldn’t see this comming) last night happends and people are shocked. Why ? enough of you seemed to buy into it, when you admitted watching green street. Im sure plenty of the “old guard” came out of retirment to have this “one last stand” I said it before, i hate the glorification of violence i saw too much of it first hand.
I am still, however, proud to be a hammer and although i do not know him, i am very very proud of Jack collinson he is, i think, a candidate for club captain, i heard on the radio, someone compared him to Bobby Moore, high praise….. but worthy.
sorry for the rant
Hammertime, I understand and appreciate what you said. I continue to be very proud of west ham and indeed in mr Collison, the reason for this I just don’t associate myself or the true west ham fans with the idiots who raised their ugly faces last night. I too have seen bloody and terrifying violance, not on the streets of london or at verious football grounds up and down the country, but on the dusty roads of basra or the sangin valley in helmand or when I was a 18 year old tom in northern ireland on my first tour, and I agree there is no glitzy hollywood glamour in it what so ever just pain and suffering. However in my experiance of these dark times the true heros and leaders step forward stand up and are counted. We can take comfort in the true fans who shouted off off off at the top of their voices or the young man who in all this stepped forward pulled on his claret and blue shirt with pride and inspired all of us. I am very proud indeed
Sorry if I sound stupid but this stuff matters to me, it’s what I believe in
Ever since I saw Jack play 45 minutes at Old Trafford on his debut, I told anyone who cared to listen that he would be a star. Last season he showed that my judgement wasn’t misplaced.
He’s young, so he will have the odd dip in form but you know what they say about form!
I couldn’t believe he chose to play last night after the events of the weekend. The contrast between his dignity and the fat, middle-aged louts who should know better, couldn’t have been wider.
I lost a brother aged 24 (it’s his birthday tomorrow), so I know a little about losing someone close before their time. The best advice I can give to Jack is to remember the good times and keep him in your heart and your mind, they never die.
I was at the game last night and lucky for me i was not wearing the my hammers shirt for some reason i thought I’d better not due to what i knew would happen and god i was lucky as i was pulled into the millwall as i was coming out of the station but now to my point of writing this and it’s something i have thought hard about well here goes while in the mix with the millwall supporters for want of a better word as these scum are not true fans just scum i heard a reporter not sure which bog roll he was writing for or reporting for but this scum told a number of the millwall scum to throw a bottle at the West ham fans and they started doing what he asked then all hell broke loose i consider myself a true fan that gets to as many games as i can and was thinking about taking my 4 kids thank god i never as i was hit in the back of the head with this bottle and was missed by god knows how many more as i was trying to get to our boy’s then i hit once more i got to our supporters and it happened again i have 20 stitches in my head and i blame that scum reporter for starting it plus i never got to see the game but to be honest I’m happy i never as i would have seen the pitch invasion i hope they ban the so called hammer supporters invade the pitch and it’s a total shame with us true fans having to put up with all the other team supporters around the country blaming us and the media of which some blame must be taken so if other teams supporters who was not at the game all of a sudden start taking all that they read in the rags and the BBC is true well how strange do they only take it for the truth when the Hammers are involved and that’s not to say we are blameless as i saw other scum pretending to be supporters of our beloved team dragging our name through the dirt it’s a very sad day for all us true claret and blue’s I also feel sorry for the true Millwall fans of which two thirds of my family are and they said they had heard that allot of the young fans that was going only had one thing on their minds so please don’t blame all West ham and millwall fans we just love our team’s and would follow our teams no matter what these scum from last night should be band for life and us the true fans should stand up to them once and for all what are they going to take on 34.500 true fans i bet they all would run home to mummy lets stand together for the love of football not things from the dark ages well I’ve had my say and I’m sorry for all the bad grammar I’ve always been sh– at reading and writing and one last thing,With all this sad affair we have to think of how young Jake must be feeling all our thoughts should be with him and his family and also callum and his mum and family and my thoughts go out to the stabbed man and is family i just want to forget this whole sorry affair and hope us true fans do not get punished but i have a feeling we will as the media do seem to hate us more and more for some sad reason that’s it I’ve had my rant.I’m west till i die and when i lay in the ground my head stone will say a true Hammer through life and through death.COYI
I went to the game last night although I left 10 minutes before (normal) full time. I am sorry I went but very glad I left early.
I was amazed to see JC play. What an incredible lad. And what a crap week for our club.
I have never known an atmosphere like last night and I hope I never experience it again. It was as though the idiots from both sides have been buttoning up their vile hatred for years and it erupted like a boil.
The police ushered you off Green Street to avoid the riot zone in the middle. There was a group of about 20 people lurking in the corner asking all and sundry if they were up for a fight. These were 50 year old men!
The atmosphere at the ground was hateful. When we decided to leave we did the usual excuse me bit as we shuffled along our row, The man at the end of the row swore at us for disturbing his rant at the Millwall fans.
I feel really sad today and a little unclean. You have one shining example of a hero in JC and then these neanderthals who let down our club and are a total waste of oxygen.
I hope they catch every last one of them and put them away. We had come so far in fighting violence at games – they have set us back 10 years.
Posted this on the previous thread by mistake, so hope it’s ok to say this again . Seeing these scenes at our club is terrible. We have been through so much in the past few years as fans of this great club and seemed to be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I hope that the authorities see this for what it is and not the problem of WHU or the product of it’s fans but i can’t see common sense prevaling as we are to easy a target at present. I did not post after Jack Collisons sad, sad loss due to feeling so sorry for the lad and wanting to post the right words but now i feel so much more sorry for him. He showed real character and bravery by playing and although the piece by MS in the daily mail is a pile of **** the picture of Jack should shame everyone involed, including those who ran onto the pitch ‘in over exuberance’. Of course this will not be the case as not one ‘person’ involved in the pathetic goings on last night has one ounce of the bravery and dignaty of Jack Collison. Jack my whole families thoughts are with you and all your family.
nothing to do with football, but portsmouth hammer.be safe and come back soon
Australian news channels are giving large coverage of The Battle of Upton Park and my work colleagues think Green Street resembled a war torn country in the Middle East!
The idiots from last night need deporting, All are totally worthless to our society.
I hope they get everyone of those involved and for however long it takes to find them. The idiots need police tagging!!
Jack Collison did more than he should have done last night, I was impressed by his bravery!! Shame that the mindless, jobless trouble makers didn’t think the same way!!
Why is it the brand West Ham is surrounded by bad news for the last few years? I reckon no-one wants to like us and we should care!
Danny, thanks mate really means alot
portsmouth hammer you are very welcome mate
Don’t know if anyonelse noticed last night on Sky but as the first reports were coming in about the stabbing from the man at Upton Park the tickertape ‘Breaking News’ item along the bottom of the screen was of the loss of a young soldiers life…certainly made me stop and think…
Millwall ,what league are they ?.Let’s move on and get back to football.Where is Scott Duxsbury flying to this weekend to sign ‘marquee’ players. This pathological liar promised us three such signings, only Jiminez has signed on loan.Chamakh coming ?,no chance.I don’t care what deal is in ‘place’,the player has said he’s not coming.Bordeaux will cave in on transfer deadline day and he will sign for Arsenal.Diamanti -with what money ?,we’re skint. We need TWO strikers desperately even if it means us selling a centre back.Lets just hope that Straumurdon’t demand that we sell three stars to satisfy creditors !.
Well done to the players for preventing what could have been an embarrassing early exit. FFS there are cameras everywhere these days. If anyone really wants to catch the brain-deads, then they can, and make sure they can never return. It doesn’t take much brain power to realise it wasn’t REAL football supporters causing mayhem last night. They are all SCUM, but none of those badged as WH fans will be at the Blackburn game, as there is nothing in it for them. As quoted..lets get back to football and pray we can add to our attacking options before the deadline, despite Junior & Zavon performing well last night. Their time will come. Collison will be applauded by all of us even more now, and VITAL we sign him up LONG TERM. That would make a real change wouldn’t it. COYI and the real fans. The Twats last night probably can’t read this anyway!
