Vote: Millwall Player Performances

Were you at the Millwall game, or did you see the whole thing on TV? If so, please do click HERE.

Please only mark those players who ACTUALLY PLAYED! This may seem blindingly obvious to most of us, but for some reason a couple of people think you have to give the whole squad at least one point. No! Only those who played!

  1. Out of interest, I couldn’t get on to the site from about 10.30pm last night. Did it go down under sheer weight of pressure?

  2. chris says:

Can I first say this…..I only recognized a few of the trouble makers, but there were groups of fella’s I’ve just never seen before, and I’ve been going and travelling for years getting to know most of the proper west ham boys.

  3. Fishy says:

HIP HIP HOORAY We’ve won the
    F&C Performance of the WEEK

OH NO!!!!! I’ve just woken up
    It was all a dream

  4. Fishy says:

    On a more serious note

only 3 people in hospital thank goodness
could have been a lot worse

only 10 arrests so far overnight

The investigation has begun by the FA ,Club and Police

  5. Fishy says:

GrayMeister, Yes the site went down all over
I got back on about 1am

  6. 1am … crikey you’re up early after such a late night.

  7. I guess the system was overwhelmed but a sudden influx. There was a lot more activity last night.

  8. Headmaster, glad you and your lad managed to steer clear of the trouble.

Well, actually, that goes for all you guys on here. Glad you didn’t come to any harm.

  9. Fishy says:

Yes decided to go to bed around 2

  10. Fishy says:

I thought this game wasnt going to televised?

  11. Suddenly became newsworthy

  12. Basildon Bob says:

Refreshed from at least a few hours sleep after last nights debacle.

The club should, once they have been identified, name and shame those morons who have once again bought shame upon us true and honest fans.

Iain, stay in down in Devon, much nicer.

  13. chris says:

The morons can’t be identified coz their one off’s.

  14. Gav Hammer says:

Hearing all rumors this morning, the most worrying is that Zola was so very upset by the fans and had not seen anything like that in all of his life.

He was so shocked that he is considering whether he still wants to be at the club.

I’m sure this rumor is rubbish but just makes you think how morons can ruin it for the true fans

  15. It must be crossing many people’s minds whether they would want to be associated with any of what went on last night.

I must confess that the people I’ve met on this blog restored my faith – that there are actually decent people who follow football, and our club, and who have a balanced view of life and who don’t have to descend to name-calling and bad language to get a point across.

Unfortunately the morons who gather in numbers and who are basically the cowards of this world seem to be the ones who spoil it for the rest.

The club should have recognised that it would never be fair to expect the regular stewards to handle this match. Nothing against the stewards, but they are just not trained for this kind of outbreak, are they?

I don’t know, perhaps someone knows one or is one and can describe the training they have and the preparations made for such a match.

  16. Digger says:

Is anyone going to mention how appalling the performance was?? 1 upfront vs a league 1 side, GZ got it massively wrong last nite with he’s tactics and the long ball especially in the 1st half was embarrassing and apart from a few players (jack in particular)the whole effort all round was toilet. Any thoughts anyone?

  17. Gav Hammer says:

    sack the board ???

  18. nasher1966 says:

To every idiot who had some part to play in last nights issues well done for further putting our club at risk from ridicule from others.

if it isn’t dodgy owners, it is ridicule in the press about having to sell players and now this. From where I was in the upper tier Bobby Moore it was a chav carnival of moronic behaviour. Well done to the mum who ran on with her small kid, he will be so proud when he sees the photos.

The club should ban every single one of the knuckle heads and make their bans public. They disgraced our club and they should get a dose of their own medicine back.

To the real fans, like most on hear, it was a sad night but one we will overcome if the strongest action is taken.

  19. Gav Hammer says:

or we could run on the pitch at the next game …

  20. Gav Hammer says:

agree nasher … I don’t know about you, but where I sit in the BM upper there are very few chavs & mostly good passionate football fans.

Other clubs will look at us and laugh.

Wouldn’t be surprised if we get booted out the cup.

  21. I think there were some observations about the football earlier, Digger.

Fact is, most of us were stuck with radio commentary and got so wound up firstly by Mark Bright and then by the idiots coming on to the pitch that all balanced analysis of GZ’s tactics and the player performances went out of the window.

However, without a shadow of a doubt Jack Collison has emerged as a tower. I just want to write to him and apologise for what he had to endure at the hands of these morons and reassure him that for every idiot on the pitch there are at least a thousand others who want to offer him genuine feelings of support and who would love the opportunity to put an arm round his shoulder and wish him well.

  22. Digger says:

Apologies then GrayBob, my internet is playing up and i cant look back at older comments for some reason!!
Wont bore anyone with my game thoughts then if its been said.

  23. Digger, no need for apologies … the observations were kinda buried under the weight of other posts

  24. IronRik says:

apparently the police were limited to 300 officers last night, In conrast to 900 last time we played millwall on a sunday lunch time..thats just mental, what did they honestly expect to happen…leaving it to the stewards is well out of order, felt really sorry for them last night.
Where I was sitting in the Dr Martins upper, I have to say I thought the atmosphere was awesome, especially second half – just a shame our supporters have been tarnished by the actions of the few idiots.
Performance wise I though the first half was shocking, tactics were completely wrong, we made them look like Real Madrid. Second half was much improved. Hines looked really bright and took his goal very, very well. Stanislas was awesome.
Last word on Jack Collison – I can’t actually comprehend what he did last night..So proud to have him as a west ham player!!

  25. Roymondo says:

With the FA conducting an inquiry into last night’s events it’s crucial that the club act first. It may be hard to identify those who invaded the pitch but they should announce that they are doing everything they can to do just that and will give life bans to anyone they can identify. This may reduce any punishment the FA hand out.
It’s what happened inside the ground that the FA will be focussing on, probably under the banner of “failing to control their fans”. I don’t think that the club can be held responsible for what happened outside.
Whilst, in some ways, all this is not surprising as it was a West Ham v. Millwall game, I hoped we had seen the last of this crap. A dark night.

  26. d.dyer says:

HAHAHA. your all Joining in with the over the top coverage i see. A few people got on the pitch big deal. It was hardly a riot. A standoff in the street which was more noise and jostling with a few old bill dont count as a riot either. Someone got stabbed but that wasn’t in the ground. people get stabbed every day but it doesn’t come with a media over reaction. total joke. at least the off the pitch non event was more exciting than the rubbish on the pitch. Lampard played after his mum died, as do lots of players no one puts them forward for knighthoods though, get a grip you over emotional fools.

  27. Roymondo says:

Graybomeister – re. your earlier comment, I would like to see Jack Collison play for England as well but, unfortunately, he is already a Welsh international so this won’t happen.

  28. Roymondo … oops, sorry, got carried away in the emotion of it all. Schoolboy error. Thanks for the reminder. Rest of it still stands.

  29. Dujon says:

Gav Zola will not leave in light of this incident. He spoke to a reporter after the match and indeed he was shocked, but he also mentioned how proud he was to be manager of a man like Jack Collison is. If it is repeated again then yes, i would be scared of what Zola/Clarke think.

I agree, ban these nuisances for life.

  30. we are now cannon fodder again for the jurno’s and sky sports have plenty of hours ready to repeat on this.deep joy.The ignorance regarding football violence in this country is unreal. They go as far as making a film and a sequel about the hatred between the 2 sets of suporters(debateable i guess)and then this happens and its shock shock shock!!! they call them stupid mindless idiots, mirror anyone?

  31. Roshi says:

You will probably find there were thugs who follow various teams at the troubles last night, not just WHU & Millwall.
It was a good excuse for a bloody mass punch up in the name of “football support”.
From what I understand this was a well organised coming together that had gained momentum from the day the game was announced, helped along by the press who were looking forward to the column inches with glee!
This was always going to happen, I’m just surprised it escalated to the point it did, probably the the result of the internet and mobile phones which of course were not around in the previous dark ages to help with the organising.

  32. chris says:

What striker would want to come to us now? well done everybody nice one.

  33. IoDHammer … not a lot you can say in defence of last night, though, is there.

Sky are asking for people’s cellphone footage of last night’s violence. I’m sure there will be plenty.

  34. Roshi says:

We were only discussing the those ridiculous West Ham hooligan films the other day, promoting the scenes we saw last night.

  35. IoDHammer says:

Yea, no new signings, players like Upson will want out too…

  36. paul says:

To think just a few days ago we actually had a debate on the merits of that pathetic film Green Street and its sequel.
As somebody who well remembers the 70s violence I thought that for some to admit enjoying such garbage was indeed pathetic. And I commented as much. Lets just hope Zola and Clarke do not think we are all as bad.

  37. Stephen says:

I hope Zola realises that for all those idiots there are thousands of us fans who really love the club and want all the best for the players.
Our support is best known for being one of the most loyal and passionate in the country who just want to be entertained by good football. Remember the semi final against Forest 4-0 down with Billy Bonds claret n blue army thats the true West Ham support.

Collision is incredible. A fantastic young player, who must be inconsolable.

  38. JackHammer says:

Get these non fans out of West Ham United for life.
Mindless depressing actions by people more interested in fighting than football.
Ashamed that it was people from the claret and blue side, Millwall away fans stayed put for the most part.
These youngsters and some older idiots have no idea of the damage they have done!

  39. underwhelmed says:

I’m so full of shame today. Those pictures went all around the world. Yes, I’m talking about the fact that now everyone knows that most of our fans are fat old men. Deeply embarrassing.

For the more nostalgic fatty, here’s you and your chums before you got addicted to pies: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEJ6Xe7_LOs

PS. Watching Sky droning on and getting all hysterical, then cue the ad break and what are they plugging? The Firm – a dreary remake of a dreary film glamourising kicking people in the head. Nick Love couldn’t have dreamed of better timing. The pillock.

  40. Roshi says:

I have just been going through the news websites looking at these idiots and I cannot believe I am looking at men in their 40′s and 50′s at the front of the trouble confronting the police.
It’s almost like a thugs reunion!

  41. LJ says:

Martin Samuels obviously didn’t see the Millwall fans ripping their seats out and flinging them onto the pitch.

A few years ago I was lucky enough to see River v Boca, which was an unbelievable hooligan fest with many men literally in masks. After a nights sleep that has helped me put last night in perspective.

We knew it was coming. The chanting of “two days til Millwall, there’s only two days…” on Sunday was a clue.

It was built up in advance, even in OLAS they were calling Millwall vermin.

I’m seemingly on moderation here now, I don’t know what I did wrong, so may say more later when the dust has settled.

I do think we should have just let season ticket holders in last night. The £15 offer has to be a contributing factor to letting these one visit morons in, hence they could dance on the pitch because they weren’t going to be coming back anyway.

  42. Roshi says:

If Sky are promoting a book like The Firm on their ad breaks, we should all complain to the advertising standards authority, please see link.
    http://www.asa.org.uk/asa/

You can’t condemn and then promote thuggary

  43. LJ says:

In fairness to Iain I think I got automoderated because I was putting youtube links in.

Suffice it to say it’s *well* worth a search on the tubes. key words obvioulsy “West Ham, Millwall”- sort by “date added”

There’s tons of mobile and handicam footage form all parts of the ground that capture events inside very dramatically.

  44. Shropshire Hammer says:

Unfortunately there will be plenty of journo’s out for their pound of flesh from last nights incidents, but as already stated, this is a one off. Everyone who has been around football for anytime knew that their would be serious violence last night, so why do those in authority sounds so surprised? Because they bury their heads in the sand and do not actually understand the mentality behind violence in our society. Sad also to see supporters of other teams (including the likes of Leeds and Chelsea!) saying that both clubs should be disbanded, talk about knee jerk reactions!
Hopefully a quick whitewash, oops investigation of those responsible for the policing and security, then a fine and these guys can go back to fighting in Rotherhithe or Canning Town on a Friday and Saturday night.

  45. Shropshire Hammer says:

Roshi, you hit the nail on the head, that’s exactly what it was a ‘Thug’s reunion’ with the football as a sideshow.

  46. eleenyc says:

“The Hooligans are Back!” Press is going to have a field day.

It’s terrible that someone got hurt. What if we had lost?
This behaviour is strictly linked to when we play Milwall. I’m afraid it will never change. Bump up security or play behind closed doors as mentioned.

I don’t think GZ is going anywhere.
some site saying DIamonti deal is done.

  47. bazzahammer says:

even if we did play the match behind close doors, it still wouldn’t stop the “fans” behaving like morons!

on another not, if it was accrington stanley playing man utd at their ground and they won 1-0, and they then invaded the pitch, nobody would be complaining. they would be saying “thats how much it means to these fans”, and then giving them a round of applause! not defending the idiots last night (i still cant understand why they did it during the game!) but still. please no hate im not defending them, just looking at the contrast!

best wishes to jack collison and whoever got stabbed.
