I cannot wait to see the offical response from the club, that should make interesting reading. Factor X of course is the attitude of the new board to this development. The bankers are unlikely to just hand over compo payments of £25m if it can be avoided, are they?

I suppose the alternative view is that we voluntarily settled and are obliged to honour the agreement with the Blunts? Also, some will argument that we do not need a further distraction from matters on the field of play?

This is a genuinely interesting situation, lets see our the club respond?

As I have said previously, on numerous occasions, this was the only conclusion that the PL/FA enquiry could logically and legitimately reach. The club followed the PL's instructons to the letter and this was proven by the documentary evidence reproduced by the tabloids.

The Griffths ruling is perverse, sets a dangerous preccedent, and should really now be overturned by the FA. Lets see if the FA have the guts and, indeed, integrity to review the ruling. I think we all know the answer to that one, don't we Lord Triesman!

From the club's perspective, it will be interesting to see how they respond. The odds are that they will stick to the out of court ruling and keep the lid on the Tevez can of worms firmly screwed shut. But we shall see!

I had a number of robast exchanges with one or two other contributors on this subject, which is unusual for me! It would nice to hear from those contributors that were totally adamant that I had it wrong and that further significant punishment awaited us. Lets see if they are they big enough to admit that, in fact, it was them got it wrong?

Just read the statement by the Premier League/FA from their inquiry into WHU's conduct following the findings of Griffiths and his team. Seems they have found we did nothing wrong subsequent to the original fine.
If we had not been so unfortunate as to be up in front of a doddery old codger like Griffiths, Sheff Utds case would have been thrown out!
It really sticks in my throat that we have had to settle out of court with them. But, more importantly, it makes me sick that they spent two years dragging the name of West Ham publicly through the mud, crying and bleating about how big bad West Ham cheated honest little Sheff Utd out of their Prem League status, just so they could get their hands on some compensation cash and maybe vindicate themselves for not being good enough for the top flight.
In the end the settlement they got won't help lift them out of the division they belong in, but at what cost to our reputation?
There will probably always be a section of football fans who will be put off following us because we are "the club that cheated and shouldn't be in the PL".
Sorry for ranting off topic but it really does piss me off!

It has just been announced that the club was cleared of any wrong doing by an FA panel set up to investigate the ruling made by Lord Griffiths which lead to the compensation agreement with the blunts.
The statement said
"A joint Premier League/FA Inquiry has reached its conclusions after considering whether the conduct of West Ham United immediately after the independent disciplinary commission's decision of 27 April 2007 amounted to further breaches of Premier League or FA rules.
"The Inquiry was instituted to consider the views expressed by the Independent Arbitral Tribunal chaired by Lord Griffiths in September 2008, which dealt with a compensation claim by Sheffield United against West Ham United, brought using the FA's arbitration process.
"The Inquiry has concluded that, on the basis of the evidence available to them, there is no prima facie case that West Ham United and/or its officials did commit any further breaches of Premier League or FA rules immediately after the independent disciplinary commission's decision."
We should rip up any agreement on compensation that we entered into and then launch a claim to recover any monies paid to them as well as a suit for defamation and the damage done to our reputation by their ILLEGAL claim.

Yes CH interesting that of the three players supposedly on their way out Faubert is with the first team in Austria (prelude to a return to favour possibly at RB?) whilst Quashie and Davenport were left behind. I am sure both would like to move on but guess they are on big contracts that any likely new club would find difficult to match. LBM was sought by Hull in January and didn't go for that reason. We may have to allow them to sit out their expensive contracts or subsidise their departure like Lundberg.

It seems that I have had my answer as to who will line out against Cambridge, step forward Nigel Quashie and Callum Davenport!
It seems Deano and Dixon were not the only two senior players left behind. Am sure it was just a mix up with the travel arrangements for Austria and not a reflection of the regard the club has for Davs and Quashie, the rest of the team flew out from Heathrow but due to a mistake on their email, the two boys thought we were leaving from Fishguard and travelling to Austria by boat!
This things can happen! They will probably still be doing their on pitch warm downs as the hear the team coash wheel spinning out of the car park after the Cambridge game.
Really! How many hints do these guys need to let them know its time to seek pastures new!
