Mancini to Join Hammers on Loan

Remember I hinted at a player from the Italian League with the ‘wow’ factor joining us? Well, it looks very much like that player is the Brazilian midfielder MancinI. According to The Sun he is coming to Upton Park on a season long loan with an option to buy. He is 28 and plays on the right side of midfield and can also play at right back.

The Upson rumours still abound, and according to the West Ham Fans blog Mark Noble is on his way to Man U. I think not.

  1. Munky says:

Setanta are quoting Zola as saying he has also been trying to sign Balotelli but it looks like we have been knocked back.

  2. CelticHammer says:

so did you lie when you said your name was scanlen or did you lie about lying that your name was scanlan?
Oh and by the way, General Motors filed for bankruptcy and yet their factories remain open, tens of thousands of workers show up each morning to work on an assembly line and produce cars that GM owns! How can this be possible if the have “gone bust”. Surely all their assets would have disappeared magically if what you say is true! But wait! GM plans to reemerge from bankruptcy, how can this be possible after what you said and especially given your encyclopedic knowledge of the workings of the business world! Maybe they declared magic bankruptcy! Hmmm! Head scratcher isnt it!

  5. claretbobby says:

underwhelmed….ssshhh, its fun to watch. Here, have some popcorn!

  6. dangoody says:

I believe we will be getting Jiminez and Balotti. This morning Setanta are suggesting the 2nd Inter player is Balotti. Any chance of all 3 joining? Wish we could have some posts on the official site. COYI.

  7. claretbobby says:

Daily mail seem to think we are in for all 3…..must be true ;0Þ

  8. CelticHammer says:

Seemingly the second player we are trying to sign from Inter is Mario Balotelli as Munky said earlier.
There is no doubt the guy has massive potential but he has been criticised in the past for being lazy and having a bad attitude in training. I guess Zola feels that he can get the best out of him and to be fair if he does then there is no doubt that he could be a massive player for us.
There is no news yet on if we are trying to buy him or get him on loan with a view to a permenant deal. If we are paying a transfer fee then I would still rather we spent it on Jozy Altidore as I think he is tailor made for the English game.
I doubt we will be able to afford Marcus Berg after the under 21s championship is over which is a shame because we badly need a striker with his prolific goal scoring record. It would be nice to buy the finished article instead of being linked with so many “work in progress” type players.
Still I have the highest faith in Dux and Nani to get us the right players and in Zola and Clarke to get the best out of them.
    Keep the Faith!

  9. DevoDevo says:

Iain -can you give CH & Scanlen their own “personal vendetta” thread or, failing that, warn them and then ban them if they continue this boring fued?

  10. scanlen says:

Leave it be DevoDevo and underwhelmed please? I only asked a question and get attacked enough without you two adding to it. I’ll let the matter drop because I know celtic never admits to being wrong.

  11. admin says:

Can we stop this spat please. Or take it elsewhere.

  12. Kim says:

    Well said Iain.

  13. CelticHammer says:

Anyone pick up on the story that we are looking to pay Citeh £8M for Felipe Caicedo. This has to go down as the single worst piece of sporting “journailism” of the close season so far. Citeh paid about £5M for him and in 27 appearances he has managed 4 goals (went sent DiMichele packing off back to Italy for similar return and we could have had him for nothing) and is now considered surplus to requirements by Hughes and we are going to hand them a £3M profit on a player they dont want.
Now I know its been a slow news day and these hacks have to find some way to string out a story but to suggest we are going to help Citeh make a 60% profit on a player who has been far from a success at the club is just stupid. Who pays these people’s salary and why do they insist on keeping them employed! Surely during this economic downturn there is an out of work circus chimp who can hold a pencil in his toes and can write better sports stories than the shower we are forced to put up with for our sporting news!

Ok Ok, at the risk of going off topic and actually posting about WestHam and to save poor Iain from having to get out of his sick bed to play referee I would love to hear what everyones favourite ever Hammers team is. I dont mean the best 11 players we have ever had but your favourite 11 players that you have seen play for WestHam. There may well be better players who have played in that position but sometimes you just take to a player for reasons other than skill.
    So here is mine
    GK Phil Parkes
    LB Julian Dicks
    CB Slaven Bilic
    CB Alvin Martin
    RB Tomas Repka
    LM Joe Cole
    CM John Moncur
    CM Martin Allen
    RM Trevor Sinclair
    ST PDC
    ST Tony Cottee
    Subs (for what its worth)
GK Les Sealey (for watching him come on and play up front for us)
    DF Seb Schemmel
    MF Paulo Futre
    ST Samassi Abouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

I should point out Phil Parkes gets in because I met him in the club car park with my dad one time when we travelled over to watch us play Man City and the game was cancelled because of a frozen pitch. Parksey chatted to us for a bit and gave me his autograph and Martin Allen is in because he gave me his shin pads after I had watched the team trainging when spending my easter holidays with my cousins in london.
Would love to hear from others on this.

  19. E1 says:

    Devodevo
    Jolly
    Celtic
who is your no 1 from that team ?
My altime fav is JOHNNY SISSONS

  20. DevoDevo says:

    Have a guess, E1. ;)

  21. CelticHammer says:

E1 its PDC mate, without a doubt. I was lucky enough to meet him in Dublin once, along with a lot of the rest of the team as it was a cup weekend and we had gone out early so the lads went to Dublin for a bit of a jolly. When I went to Rome earlier this year for the Ireland Italy game I took a Hammers scarf to the stadium and tied it around the railings as that is where he played his last game while at Cisco Roma.

  22. Brooking still the best says:

    Parks
    Stewart
    Martin
    Gale
    Dicks
    Bonds
    Devonshire
    Brooking
    Dicanio
    Cottee

    Subs
    Billic
    Miklosko
    McAvennie

I would like to say Moore, Peters and Hurst but I was to young to see them live

  23. Dujon says:

I’m still backing Savio and Stanislas to be great wing/ second striking options. Now that Zola and Clarke have their first pre-season with Nsereko, I believe it will help him greatly in adapting to the EPL. Zola said that he believes Savio can shine next year, and being brought in in January, it would have been very hard for Savio and Zola to work on this adaptation. (hence the reason why I believe this pre-season will mean alot).

  24. Basildon Bob says:

    Who remembers Alan McKnight(mare)?

Was in a cab going from Upminster to Grays last week and got chatting with the driver, who tells me he is now living in Chafford Hundred (Grays)

A saturday morning anecdote for you all.

Right i’m off home. Good weekend all

  25. E1 says:

Bob: You old name droper you.
DevoDevo : could it be Alan devonshire by chance? lol

  26. Jolly says:

    E1,

For me, It’s Julian every day of the week and twice on Saturday!

  27. Jolly says:

Alan McKnightmare…..still makes me wake up at night in a cold sweat!
My brother and I were behind the goal at the League cup semi final 1st leg vs Luton when he decided to give them a nice 3 goal lead in the first half – I still haven’t forgiven him 20+ yrs later.

  28. Claret! says:

He’s played 6 times in 6 years according to wikipedia – still sound good?

  29. SoCalHammer says:

Gutted to hear we have less of a chance to sign Mancini now. Does anyone know what other clubs are after him?

  30. Roymondo says:

Well, it’s bound to be the Spuds. They are in for everybody.

  31. D&G says:

Mancini is a no go. Once his agent realised there was interest in him he has touted his name to every club that’s in europe next season.

OH and Celtic for once i’m going to agree with you about Caicedo. He is pony and I honestly cant imagine us handing over a single cent for him.

Only deal that looks plausible is Jimi from Inter and even that is debatable because I’ve heard he has had other offers.
