Thought Green was outstanding, the commentator said imperious and I agree, someone please send Capello the tape.
Tomka, and Stanislas did really well, and LBM caused trouble for Sunderland and had a hand in the goal, a good game for him. Loved the way Tomka ran rings round Anton, all in all a good day.

Nice to see Mr Moon back in the ground today, haven’t heard of him for quite a while.
Please, please, please win next week West Ham
Yep, Green was outstanding, & quite a few of the other boys were as well. I think some lessons have finally been learnt. A part of total football is about adapting, which was not done effectively, with the loss of recent players. The loss of Behrami seemed to have caused a loss of shape in the midfield. This game proved that whilst players may fall injured, the concept of play must be continued, by the players coming in. These kids coming through are our future, they are being taught a system,(finally- & my gratitude goes to GZ), that thrills the eye, and heartens the soul. Lets try to hang on to these ones, and not just train another crop of ManU international players.
I thought this was a huge result for us given the injury situation. However, it wasn’t the best performance by some distance, particularly in the first half, and there were long periods where Sunderland passed us off the park.
Our two central defenders were excellent – particularly Tomkins who did a great job on Cisse – which meant that Sunderland were mainly restricted to shots from distance and Green did well with all of those plus a couple of acrobatic tips away from crosses in the second half. With a weakened midfield, Noble took on a lot of responsibility and LBM worked his socks off. He had a couple of opportunities to shoot but seemed to lack the confidence to do so which, with his inability to hit a cow’s arse with a banjo over the last couple of years was not surprising. He did well for Stanislas’s goal though.
DDM produced a couple of skillful moments but this was mixed with his usual ability to lose the ball too easily. Ilunga looked like he needs a rest and some of his passing was not up to his usual standard and, apart from two good efforts on goal, Tristan’s contribution was negligible. I was surprised that he stayed on when Dyer appeared..
It was good to see Junior getting his first start – and first goal. It was a satisfactory, not brilliant, debut and he looked full of confidence which is half the battle.
Lucas Neill showed he is not really a holding midfield player but, to his credit, he does seem willing to do a job for the team whatever the circumstances.
Is there any news on Spector’s injury? It didn’t look too good at the time.
I was speaking to some Sunderland fans after the game and one of them asked me if I’d seen a worse team than them this season. Several, I would say. I’d rather see them in the Premier League than teams like Stoke and Blackburn whose football is just horrible.
If Everton beat Wigan today it puts us back in pole position for 7th place and the Europa Cup. All in all, I’m pretty happy with that.
Saturdays home game against Sunderland was a great lift to us the fans and the team. For us we can see the work both Zola and Clarke have done which has built a solid team spirit throughout all the players. Neill filling in in mid field, any doubts about his performance should be gone when you see the score line – another clean sheet! Green made some excellent saves but his distribution was at times a little wayward, despite the throw that led to a goal. I say that because for me Tomkins was my man of the match. He will be a superb player for us. The lift is also to do with the fact that we did not play particularly well across the whole game but came out winners. I remember another team I used to support who would have lost that game! The first few minutes had me thinking – have I gone into the wrong ground? But there are good things to say about every player, even Tristan although I cant see him staying next season. He struggled for long periods but his chip to catch out Gordan was a flash of his old self. We need to support every player in the run in, and I was glad to see Boa do so well, his perfectly wieghted pass to set up Junior was just class! If he could get his confidence back then all that industry he shows will be far more effective. Like any player, a few matches on the trot builds confidence. Today showed us all that whatever happens between now and the end of the season, the future is looking very good. We may not have the money other clubs have, but i suspect that quality players will look at West Ham and see what Zola and Clarke are doing and will want to be a part of it. So the summer will be very interesting indeed!
7 across the borad for me with Green Neil and tomka getting 8.
A good team performance considering the injury situation and another 3 pts !!!
Bring on the spurs,a win next week and I will be very happy with the whole season, the rest of which ain’t gonna be easy,Spurs, Villa, Chelsea, Stoke, Liverpool, EvertonThen Boro, 21 pts to play for, How many do you all think we will pick up and what will be our total points tally for the season.
We have 44 + 8 my prediction = 52 for the season finish 7th or 8th.
Tomkins 9
England player in the making
Green 8
Made some poor passes even when not under pressure but made some important saves
Stanislas 8
Great start by this young winger
Upson 7
At times was slow and poor in the air
Noble 7
Getting back to his best
LBM 6
Often late in the tackle but great pass for the goal
The rest 6
Sunderland much better footballing team than Stoke shame if they go down.
Anton F semed moved by the fans clapping – it seemed to put him off – very friendly with our players at the end of the game !
MOTD useless showing which did not reflect the game.
A very good result with a weakened team – well done team and Zola / Clark.
Great performance by Westham. At least MOTD put us up first, now surely that is history. After a user here commented on some of Stanislas ball work, i too was ashamed none of that really appeared in the highlights. But when he becomes a superstar, skill videos of him will be all over sites like youtube.
I believe we can get 11 points extra, but getting into the 50′s would still be satisfying.
I was delighted for Junior. As an eastender who moved south of the Blackwall Tunnel he is a local lad for me. I thought it was a billiant afternoon and the whole team played with spirit. LBM might just become loved in claret and blue if he plays like that all the time.
The Sunderland supporters in the Duke after the game were lovely and they had great support for the game. I hope they don’t get relegated.
Bring on Spurs next week. I can’t wait.
I love Zola and Clarke.

Didn’t see it, even on MOTD. Still up in the Dales (no pun intended – near Finghall, if you know it Ian) and on the side of a hill as I type – but how glad am I to see LBM get such high scores. Come on Louis – COYI!!
