Just as a follow up to the Lee Bowyer post, it looks as if Nigel Quashie is returning to Upton Park…
Playing Newcastle at St James’s Park is always a lottery for West Ham. We usually either get thumped or pull off a memorable victory. There always seem to be a few goals. Having said that, the last time we won there was in 1998. The team is likely to be rather different, both defensively and in midfield tomorrow, although Cole and Bellamy will both start.
Scott Parker is back from suspension and he will partner Mark Noble in midfield, I imagine with Behrami coming in on the right and Collison switching to the left. Behrami is becoming a vital player to us. He has won more free kicks than any other plater in the Premier League. Lucas Neill is also fit to return so Julien Faubert will miss out, and Matthew Upson will come in for James Tomkins. Kieron Dyer will hopefully get another runout for twenty minutes from the bench.
Our substitute picks are going to be increasingly interesting as the squad reduces in size.
We’re looking for our fourth successive victory and to extend our six match unbeaten run away from home. I am very optimistic we can get a point or three at Newcastle. Let’s hope the team don’t prove me wrong. Come on Carlton, a fourth successive goal please!

I cannot wait for the friday to end so i can head to the pub tomorrow morning. 10am kickoff for us, boys! COYI!!!
I have full confidence we can take 3 from this.
Thats the team,3-1 to us ,a brace for bells.
We go there with confidence,so lets attack and take the points.
I too am confident of going to St. James Park and getting at least a point… apart from having a handful of quality individuals, I think Newcastle are a poor side, especially in defence and the middle of midfield…. and conveniently, it is in the middle of midfield where we are looknig very strong… our foursome on Noble, Parker, Behrami and Collison is dynamic and hard-working… and though they perhaps like pace and width as a foursome, we do have Dyer and Boa hopefully on the bench to come on, if pace and width are required.
I also fancy Bellamy to score… he’s like a man possessed at the minute….
Not sure who’s fit up front for Newcastle, but this is the one area where they do have some quality, be it Martins, Owen or Viduka… and mavericks like Ameobi can cause problems on their day…….
2.0 West Ham.
COYI
3 – 1 to the cockney boys !! Parker and bellamey should be up for it and cole’s confidence must be up, so as long as we get the ball in there he’ll be putting it away. This is one we must win ready for the next 2 games Fulham and Hull and a top 8 slot. i think we will get at least 7 points from the next 3 games but 9 would turn it all around. I really feel we are on the up and for the first time for some time looking forward to the rest of the season. Don’t give a toss about shit feild utd, we’ve payed our due’s £5mill, So COME ON YOU IRONS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I reckon we could get something from this. I’m a little worried our ‘best’ players confidence might be dented a little with all the news about them having other clubs interested in them.
If any of them are angling for a move then they might start doing a Defoe on us.
howay the toon
youre right we have an appauling defence but with bassong back(an amazing cb) we should look a lot better in that area than we did against liverpool
if you there is an area you will dominate it is midfield particuarley cm
howay the toon
I’ve just heard the FA and Football League are going to investigate Vic Watson’s transfer from Wellingborough to West Ham for £ 50 in 1924, as we haven’t been put through enough in the last 3 years. Still, it’s ok for Harry to talk about players and unsettle them and get away with it. I’m convinced we will be docked points, they want us out of the Premiership.
OK, Geoff, or anyone… how many other other Hammer Vics have there been?
10 long years since we won up there…..so , 3 point 2morrow will b well sweet. 2-1 to us. COYI
I think we will win 1-0. Cole to score! Only joking. I don’t care who score as long as we win.
Graybo: 2 vic’s watson and keeble.
Geoff : Vic Watson signed for Westham in march 1920 not 1924.
Just saying, ido get your point.
A point – please!
We will get at least a point tomorrow and we can follow that up with victories against Fulham and Hull. We should aim for 7 points from the next three games. taking us to 32 and within sight of the 40-42 safety margin. This is an important sequence of 3 matches and we must capitalise on them. But even two draws and a win will take us forward nicely.
Newcastle are there for the taking. 0-2 to the Hammers, with Bellamy’s pace slaughtering them!
We win!!! 6 nil
Owen will score the little shit bag can’t miss when he palys us a couple of years ago i recall one going in off this back!! ,but all this said and done i feel The Mighty Hammers will take all three points from “Toon”.
Bellamys pace will be the undoing of them , Bramble has the turning circle of the QE2 and Cole must be feeling good about him self and will take one of the six chances he will get. so its a 1-2 for me . Sorry rethink Bellamy and a very rare goal from Parker old club thing and all that .
Hook End Bramble is playing for wigan now.
Calm down, dears…. I’m afraid that my water is telling me it’s bubble burst week… naturally, I really hope I’m wrong and I’d love to see us sneak a point at least.
I think we will play Toon off the park today, hopefully we can convert our chances and take the 3 points., although it wouldn’t surprise me if it ends in a score draw.
I think the progress under Zola/Carke has been staggering (bar Spurs). Well organised defensively, excellent ball retention, something Capello has also instilled with England, so it must be an Italian thing. along with an excellent work ethic and team spirit.
Hope Dyer gets at least half an hour, too.
Newcastle are pretty poor at the moment I think, so if our players are not too affected by all the transfer guff going on we should do okay.
Hammers will be the featured match on 5Live this afternoon, now that the Pompey game is off.
Victor Glover – plyd 34 games in the 1911-12 season. There you go – my anally retentive contribution to the “How Many Vics have played for West Ham” investigation.
Vic Watson however – most prolific goalscorer in West Ham history.
